Your mentioning of:
2 hrs of #1 hit music reminds me...
Put together with yesterday,
You are giving us 5 hours of
#1 hits!
Given you usually have a week to dig up 2 hrs of Michael approved tunes, what was that like?
Was Juniper cheering encouragingly or teasing relentlessly?!?
Avatar 11:12am Michael Shelley:

Honestly - exhilaration! When I picked Juniper up at school yesterday, first question: how was the morning show?

  11:16am Mark from Columbus:

Thanks for the Louie Louie original which I didn’t know existed. That song along with Little Black Egg and Wipeout are the first tunes my garage band rehearsed back in 1966. So yeah, that’s the Genesis of rock n roll.
  11:17am clarke:

NOT the original - that would be Richard Berry

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am zivilars:

@Handy Haversack – thanks for the info, want to join the Swag for Life anyway! Just still have to find out how to exactly choose which premium (I guess this is one then) I get when pledging ... I'd like to split my pledge to different shows. Will (hopefully) figure this out!
Avatar 11:39am Michael Shelley:

People are going to die. every one of those radios need full blown capacitor changes, resistor replacements, and such. It's deadly in there. Hate to be a buzz kill, but buy a nice amp. That said, I'll have a look. Hee hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am zivilars:

@clarke – yeah, if choosing 10$ a month on the WFMU pledge site, I can choose up to 12 shows (one for ever 10$) and will get 1 DJ premium – but it doesn't specify from which one it will be and you there's no choosing option. But whatever, I'll figure this out. Thanks again for the info!
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:42am Handy Haversack:

@zivilars: As I recall, you can add one show for each $10 pledged? And spread your support around. We were trying to figure it out, and Kate kept saying, "And [this show]! And [this show]!" Eventually, "We just love too much."

So, you know, the process is fraught. One ends up doing a lot of self-reflection!

@Michael, you mean like how (NJ's own) Edison wanted us to have massive battery stations lining every road in the country?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am zivilars:

@Handy: Yeah, got the same problem – already did a one time pledge for two show, then another one for a third one and now for two others ... they just all deserve it! :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Spinning Giant:

John Popper of Blues Traveler has one of those crazy military style harp vests - say what you want about harp players, that dude can blow - saw him once back in early 90s at a one-off show in TO co-opening with Pearl jam for Neil Young (w/ Booker T & the MGs) - the whole spectacle was superb - watching Popper seamlessly switch between harps druing his extended jam riffs was mesmerizing...

My neighbour down the street is from Cuba and on a Friday night in summer he'll drink a few beers and play loud Cuban music and I'll sit on my porch under my lights, drinking beer and listening in. At this point, that's probably better than going to a concert.

GIO - how's the weather in the nation's capital, today? Southern Ontario is sunny and warm (ish) - lived there from 91-97 while attending Carleton - one year I lived at the far end of the canal and on perfect winter days we would skate to school, passing the puck around the whole way, of course - what hosers ;) ...great memories...

Dang, Michael, say the word! (Once it's warm!) Last summer or the one before, I was trying to organize a paddling day for WFMU DJs and volunteers -- I can go back to that effort! But also available to take you and a smaller group out whenever you want!

@GiO: You better believe I will!

@Michael: Kate and I are coming down to volunteer during Todd's show 3/14. Maybe we can chat about canoeing chances then.

Handy - that does sound amazing! Urban canoeing in NYC - WOW! And GIO - that also sounds amazing! Assuming I won't get scoffed at for bringing my kayak (as opposed to canoe) ;P

Love this Bangles album, and tune. I'm still waiting for the Go-Go/Bangles co-headlining tour. They've played on each other's albums & written songs together (& Vicki filled in for Charlotte on a Go-Gos tour once) so I keep thinking it's going to happen. And the Bangles now have their original bass player back (who's on the first EP).

@ Handy & @GIO - I am looking at purchasing a few acres w/ cabin on the river on a north-south route that takes you up to North Bay, just outside the western gate of Algonquin Park - has some small outbuildings I was dreaming of converting into bunkies and setting up a kind of way station for paddlers, trekkers, et al - keep you posted if I manage to pull it all together...
  12:38pm DG:

Sorry, that last Bangles comment was mine, forgot to add my moniker.

@Spinning Giant, that sounds SO lovely. Please do keep us posted! I have a lot of Canada exploring in my future, I fervently hope.

And the offer in NYC stands: just let me know!

@DJ Guin: That's remarkably close!

Great show and that Spanish Perfume in particular was a treat. For what it's worth, I think details about which toms are part of the Bangles sound is good and interesting info. I like learning details of the making of art.

HH & GIO - absolutely - will do!
