Hello Jeff. If you want to see the power of FMU, checkout Carol's show that has just finished.
Avatar 9:03am hyde:

hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Jeff Golick:

Hi, @Brian in UK! Will do...
HI, @hyde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am WR:

Glad to be here. To be listening. Careful Brian in UK, I just dried my eyes & washed my face. Try to get on with the day, while remembering those we carry in our hearts.

Back to the yoga/Jeff/dog walk routine. All is right with the world. Except for the world part. See you in a bit!

Good morning, Jeff and everyone

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Jeff Golick:

What is up, @WR! @Doug, @ParUbi, pumpkin-less @duke, @Rev Rabbit!

Man, that was some kind of session y'all had at Carol's place, @Brian.

Good morning Jeff and all

This is the cost of being a real Community - collective grief. It's a stamp of authenticity & worth every moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am WR:

Curious thing about the donation pumpkin, it still shows on your profile info page. I noticed on Friday that my pumpkin was not displaying in my posts, seemed to have been replaced by a heart. But your posts are showing neither pumpkin nor heart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Marathon coming up.
Avatar 9:32am Brian in UK:

Just got an email from Joe McGasko about SfL perhaps that is why the radios and hearts have returned now, well in most cases.
Avatar 9:33am duke:

I'm not a swag for life person. I give a lump sum every time. I'll get some sort of doo-dad as soon as I donate to the marathon.
  9:34am DJpeterDE:

Good morning all! Let’s see if this is good morning workout music ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Jeff Golick:

Hi, @DJpeterDE! Well, if Blakey and Co. didn't get your pulse racing, nothing will. That might've been the highest BPM level we'll get to, tho.
Avatar 9:36am Brian in UK:

This happens regularly with me, no big deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Swag for Life - a little bi monthly
- is the only way I can do it
- actually gives FMU a reliable thang they like
- I don't even have to think about it (no adulting suits me I'm afraid)...
As for actual Swag - it might be a tad of a misnomer? - but that matters a bit less than preserving the gig & paying my way...almost...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am ParUbi:

Chilling to this one with my coffee. Good start to the Sunday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am ParUbi:

Just started swag for life during the Halloween drive. Do they check in on your from time to time? What if I want to add some shows to my support?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Jeff Golick:

@ParUbi: check your email; there should've been one from Joe McGasko/WFMU re your new swag options, and show allotments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am doctorjazz:

Hi D.O.folks! Short stay this morning, baby naming to go to soon.

@fleep! I bet the coffee goes down easier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Stanley:

Well, I had to do something physical after Carol's show. So, that's the fridge done and the dozen or so lurking jars of once was foodstuffs dealt with/recycled etc. Cup of tea is called for, I think. Hi Jeff and Jazzers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am ParUbi:

Ooh, just found it. Thanks, Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am ParUbi:

@Stanley-- that was some send-off. Joined fairly recently so I didn't really know Spamoni, but it was sure moving to see all the tributes and the response of the community.

Hi, UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Jeff Golick:

@Stanley! Might have to do the same here, as there is something of a garbage smell evident in the apartment...not sure from where...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Jeff Golick:

@duke/@holland oats: ah, sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Stanley:

@ParUbi - it's great to see everyone coming together. This radio station and the wonderful community of djs and listeners is something special.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am doctorjazz:

I'm going crazy trying to find the "one" or meter on this, sounds 6/8, but changes all the time, sounds like to my ears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am doctorjazz:

Little Danny would like this,v he's a vibes man.
Avatar 10:11am Peter from DE:

@doctorjazz: my own take (of the vibes groove part) is that it was in 4/4 but with one measure of 3/4 at the turnaround (bar 16 or so)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Jeff Golick:

One of the Ds of this 3D's performance is Andrew Drury, who just appeared on Dave Sewelson's Music for a Free World (on the Drummer stream) yesterday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Jeff Golick:

(Here's a link to that show: wfmu.org...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Stanley:

@Jeff - reminds me of that scene in Withnail & I:
"- That's right, put on the gloves. Don't attempt anything without the gloves.
- Ugh
- What is it? What have you found?
- Matter.
- Matter?
- Where's it coming from?
- Don't look.

Etc. until he get's bitten by the kettle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Jeff Golick:

Aha haha. I follow a twitter account that just randomly spews out lines from Withnail & I.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am doctorjazz:

Could be, Peter, though I would have sworn it started in 6/8 before the vibes solo. But I just gave up after a while (I'm usually pretty good at figuring it out...I'll just have to get the CD and work on it some more).
This 3D track is also cool, gotta get ready to head out soon.
Avatar 10:17am fred:

@doctorjazz: meter is more useful for playing than listening. Even so called experts disagree until they see the score (and even then)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am Stanley:

Jeff - It's getting a rare screening here in Edinburgh next Friday.
There's a bunch of us going.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Jeff Golick:

That should be a blast, @Stanely. I haven't seen it in a loooong while.

My fave recent twitter follow is a bot that just makes up insults that Joe Biden might holler at you, e.g., "You just hitched your dinghy to the wrong river boat, ya square-toed three-eyed hobgoblin"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Jeff Golick:

Get your own insult by tweeting @bideninsultbot.

  10:23am John from Florham park:

@Jeff morning to you too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ooo. BritCom lover - never picked up on Withnal...
Avatar 10:25am Peter from DE:

@doctorjazz: yeah, i figured you were talking about a different groove earlier in the track (but I wasn't attending to it at the time)
Avatar 10:25am Peter from DE:

Oh I love this Andrew Hill LP. i think i heard it before any of his Blue Notes, it was always in the used record bins in the 1980s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Jeff Golick:

@Peter: I had no idea it existed until my D:O brother Jeff J. sent it my way just this week!
Avatar 10:32am hyde:

yeah, this is nice
Avatar 10:32am Brian in UK:

Jeff, is Mr Jackson still writing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Jeff Golick:

@Brian, yes, he is! I think he is on the verge of finishing his next novel. He has also been performing lately, in a group called Julian Calendar: juliancalendar.bandcamp.com
Avatar 10:36am fred:

@Jeff: maybe Julian Calendar could perform at Monty Hall and your band could open for them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Jeff Golick:

One of those things could happen, @fred.
  10:39am Mark Reichard:

Haven't really heard any 70s Andrew Hill before, that was very cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am Jeff Golick:

Hey there, @Mark! Yeah, I think the 70s weren't especially kind to Hill, as far as record dates went.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am doctorjazz:

That Hill was new to me as well. Great set! Time for me to head out, thanks Jeff, later, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am doctorjazz:

Kris Davis is also popping up all over the place these days.
Avatar 10:50am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@duke Pumpkins were for pledges to the Fall campaign. The new campaign has just begun. Renewed Swag for Lifers, and all new one-time pledges to the new campaign, will get hearts. Your pumpkin for your prior campaign pledge(s) will continue to display on your profile page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am Jeff Golick:

Bye, @doc!
Hi, @Kenzo, and that's for that info!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am ParUbi:

Is it the case that you can only support 10 shows, or is it 1 show per dollar?
Avatar 10:59am fred:

Is this dedicated to Hermeto Pascoal?
  10:59am Doug Schulkind:

Woop woop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Jeff Golick:

That is a good question, @ParUbi, to which I do not know the answer. If @Kenzo is still around, he might be able to weigh in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am ParUbi:

10 shows is *NOT ENOUGH* X|
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Jeff Golick:

@fred: that's my guess, yeah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Jeff Golick:

It's the return of @Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Really it goes into one kitty of course...
Supporting a show is a gesture that may be noted...
& it matters for what DJs premium you get I suppose...
I would think being a Swagger & giving a little automatically each month doesn't interfere w/ giving a specific pledge on top particularly ? Just do it ?
Avatar 11:04am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@ParUbi There is a minimum per show - it's either $10 or $15, I don't remember - the pledge page will tell you when you try to the split.
@RRN63: Choosing a show to pledge towards is separate from choosing a DJ premium(s). They can be independent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh yes. Thank You.
Avatar 11:06am holland oats:

frank iphone!
Avatar 11:08am fred:

I miss being able to show support to a new DJ during their first marathon show. But SfL is better for the station, so that goes toward these DJs having a first marathon show in the first place
Avatar 11:08am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@RR63 And yes you can add a pledge on top of your S4L.
Avatar 11:09am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred You get to choose who to allot your renewed S4L to, don't you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Simplicity is one thing I like about S4L..
Avatar 11:12am fred:

@Kenzo: I do, but I liked the way an early pledge could ease the tension for new DJs. Hopefully it still does, but I'm kind of afraid a pledge before the marathon puts added pressure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Stanley:

Even more great shows to spread the love, now that we have Sheena's Jungle Room as well as our beloved GTDR
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Jeff Golick:

Y'all are crazy/amazing. You know the marathon doesn't start for another two weeks, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Stanley:

Just gearing up, Jeff.
BTW can we have more Jacques Charlier in the future? What a great sound they had going.
Avatar 11:22am fred:

@Jeff: You and fellow DJs are to blame. You're the ones making us looking forward to giving money
Avatar 11:24am coelacanth∅:

good morning Jeff & all
  11:25am Doug Schulkind:

THAT was funny.
  11:28am Ike:

Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Jeff Golick:

What up, @oelacanth∅! @Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am WR:

Regarding SfL donors and support for particular shows, recent email from McGasko has explanation that makes sense but that I am still digesting. Regarding D:O, yes, still digesting today's sounds. Burp. Pardon me.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Jeff Golick:

And now I'm feeling clammy, @holland oats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am WR:

Regarding the new playlist page, I am still adjusting, learning, but do get lockups. Will report directly to Kenzo soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Jeff Golick:

Has the playlist page changed? I haven't noticed a difference this morning...?
Avatar 11:43am fred:

New tracks appear without the whole page having to refresh, that's new Kenzo wizardry. Not noticing anything is high praise, something Kenzo is used to by now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Doug Schulkind:

Jazz dad humor was first detected in the petroglyphs of the Anasazi, circa 200 BC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Jeff Golick:

Ohhhhh! Beautiful. Thanks, @Kenzo!
Avatar 11:46am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred I don't remember for sure how the new system works, but I THINK you can still make your part-of-my-S4L pledge to a specific show at any time during marathon, rather than at the beginning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Another knockOUT show, Jeff! Hope the gang can mosey down the street to that Club of Ill Repute, Daaaaahhh Stork! 10 minutes till openin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Stanley:

Love the new and smooth playlist. Makes a big difference not having the page refresh, especially when listening in the dark when the screen would briefly light up the room
Avatar 11:53am fred:

@Kenzo: I guess I could, but I'm not sure about the planning. Jeff, what do you think about this? Is an early pledge helping or adding pressure to raise more?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Jeff Golick:

@fred: in my view, early pledges are great. Late pledges, also great. No added pressure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Stanley:

fred: beware the dark arts of shifting show targets
  11:55am Dean:

So, early and often?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Jeff Golick:

@Dean, no that's voting. Hi there.
Avatar 11:56am Brian in UK:

I never pledge SfL to any shows, my thinking is that it has already been included in the grand total. I is just dumb and make fresh pledges each time.
Avatar 11:56am holland oats:

Now THAT'S a jazz joke!
Avatar 11:56am fred:

@Stanley: That's what I'm worried about
Avatar 11:57am Brian in UK:

@fred it just puts pressure on you to pledge even more.
