Hola Fabio. I've been ordered not to laugh or cry, which made me cry. Please help..

Hello Fibio. I been up all night leanin' on the windowsill.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Handy Haversack:

Afternoon, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm G:

Since I mainly listen 9am-7pm weekdays (due to my work and personal schedules), I tend to consider 3pm Thursday as the boundary between a more melodic/poppy period (Weds through 3pm Thursday) and a non-poppy demanding-but-rewarding-listening period (from Fabio on through Friday afternoon). -- But I guess it's silly to force structure out of different pieces of freedom.
Avatar 3:10pm TDK60:

G. The rewards are showering us.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm G:

For those sans Latin, "Pater Peccavi " is "Father I Have Sinned"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm tim from champaign (now washington):

That reminds me that I can't sleep on getting tickets to see Neubauten in October.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm chresti:

Hello Fabio and fabiosos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Handy Haversack:

Dang it, Tim, it reminds me of the same thing.
Avatar 3:17pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

We're doing a beta test of updated playlist software today on Fabio's playlist. Please try it out on every damned device and browser you have, and let us know if you find any issues. Report 'em here or email kenzo at wfmu.org or fill out this form: wfmu.org...
  3:17pm nic:

love this!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm G:

"We're doing a beta test of updated playlist software today on Fabio's playlist. " -- Sometimes might get tough to know if the audio output is correct or not :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm tim from champaign (now washington):

I think Neubauten and the Bad Seeds have converse fashion sensibilities. As young men, Neubauten were quite slovenly and stumblebum whereas the Bad Seeds were quite well groomed. As middle aged men Neubauten is all slick and dapper whereas the Bad Seeds are quite hairy and stumblebum looking.
Avatar 3:19pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ha ha, all audio idiosyncrasies remain totally in Fabio's realm.
Avatar 3:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

i greet you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm brainiac:

My business cards have 'stumblebum' engraved below my name.
Avatar 3:24pm βrian:

Embla Quickbeam was the name of the charming elderly woman who lived at the end of the lane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Handy Haversack:

Thought it was an Ent.
Avatar 3:27pm mariano:

Ahh, the most productive portion of my Thursdays! This kind of stuff really helps me get into the zone with work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Rich in Washington:

I managed to get Neubauten tickets shortly before they sold out.
Avatar 3:30pm TDK60:

I've heard rumors that DJ Fabio is a slick-groomed DJ for his shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Where at, Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Rich in Washington:

In Portland Oregon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Rich in Washington:

Hey, Kenzo, I'm now reading and commenting via an Android phone. It's wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Looks like tickets are still available for the Neptune in Seattle.
Avatar 3:33pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Rich Glad you like! The mobile experience is much better with the new Dynamic Playlists...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Handy Haversack:

@Kenzo, I shrank the window on my monitor to test the response, and it worked well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Detecting that the failure rate in the universe is continuously increasing. At the moment of the Big Crunch, the failure rate approaches infinity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah. Between the old app and a regular browser on my phone, I found commenting via phone rather arduous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Rich in Washington:

so this is fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Carmichael:

I love me some hippie bed music ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Rich in Washington:

Daniel recently posted that Arrow's retiring from the music biz, but what does that really mean in Rock and Roll anymore?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

On the phone, if you flip it sideways for landscape mode, you can see both the playlist and the comments simultaneously. It's pretty slick.
Avatar 3:41pm Lixiviated Life:

back again and ready to fail
Avatar 3:46pm βrian:

You can have those balloons back when you've learned how to play with them.
  3:47pm nic:

love this & i love Daniel Menche!!!
Avatar 3:48pm TDK60:

Anyone know if Neubaten will be traveling by Jersey City metro?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm tim from champaign (now washington):

TDK60 - looks like Brooklyn and Philly are the closest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow, Ken From Hyde Park! You're right! It works!
Avatar 3:59pm TDK60:

Ahh gracias, Tim; they play Brooklyn Steel, Oct 30. Big club, more can see 'em. You have the Crystal Ballroom..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Handy Haversack:

@TDK60, but it's $50! I know, I know. I should just pull the trigger. Sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm brainiac:

I was just listening to Daniel Menche's "CATALEPSY" on bandcamp. Special instructions from his website:

IMPORTANT INFO! For people who bought the CD "CATALEPSY" in Japan and are having difficulty playing it. The BLACK side is the playable surface and the SILVER side is not. Silver side UP and black side DOWN.
  4:01pm Tony:

It looks like that Neubauten tour is mainly just on the coasts. What about those of us in flyover country?
Avatar 4:03pm TDK60:

Handy- Yeh, I only go to one/two of the pricier shows yearly, not many; more $5-$15 shows, freebies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm tim from champaign (now washington):

This Sonorhc is pretty terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Rich in Washington:

While I shouldn't complain - happy to be able to see EN, - Crystal Ballroom has a rather sub par soundsystem. Hopefully it's been revamped since the last show I attended there years ago.
Avatar 4:09pm TDK60:

Tony, that happens a lot on tours, just coasts. It looks like E.N. is at least playing Chicago, Detroit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Handy Haversack:

Haven't been to Brooklyn Steel yet. Almost saw Violent Femmes there, but it was after seeing Nick Cave at Barclays, officiating a wedding, drinking after a wedding, and running D&D (and drinking), and the flesh failed.
Avatar 4:11pm TDK60:

Handy: twas at B. Steel 1st time last summer: The Specials!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm steveo:

i wish i had gotten married at barclays with Nick Cave officiating!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Handy Haversack:

Cool! Good sound?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. The last show I went to at Crystal Ballroom was Negativland in 2014. I was in charge of the live radio remote, so wasn't really paying huge attention to the live acoustic sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Handy Haversack:

@stevo, you should have said something at the time!
  4:14pm Tony:

TDK, I'm in the southwest so Chicago and Detroit doesn't help! The closest would be LA, but it says that one is already sold out (and it's midweek)
Avatar 4:14pm TDK60:

As I recall, H.H. / Saw several shows at Crystal, Rich.
Avatar 4:17pm βrian:

I may try the Chicago one, being in flyover country, myself.
Avatar 4:18pm mariano:

Morris Knight and the Days?
Avatar 4:22pm βrian:

Charlotte Rampling??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Angel Heart is great!
Avatar 4:23pm Lixiviated Life:

Hard boiled egg
Avatar 4:23pm mariano:

Gah! You gave away the twist in Angel Heart, Fabio! Not that it's that hard to guess. And yes, Charlotte Rampling plays Margaret Krusemark, aka Madame Zora.
Avatar 4:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Only seen Rampling in The Night Porter, so I'm sure that imprint will affect anything else I see her in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Lixiviated - I was going to comment on the egg too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm tim from champaign (now washington):

I love Douglas Sirk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Handy Haversack:

Alex Cox and the Pogues were a good match.
Avatar 4:26pm βrian:

I last saw her in Swimming Pool.
Avatar 4:26pm Lixiviated Life:

Fabio,
Thoughts on the Sex Pistols? Were you a fan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Carmichael:

Rampling was in Zardoz!
Avatar 4:28pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoa! I stand corrected. Night Porter and Zardoz.
actually that would be an exquisitely weird double feature.
Avatar 4:29pm Fabio:

@Lixiviated Life: Yes.
Avatar 4:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Speaking of "Porter," ... Mr. Bowles (wasn't that the name of his lead character in Sheltering Sky?) ... Failure is a circle.
Avatar 4:33pm mariano:

Rampling was also in Stardust Memories, gave an amazing performance.
Avatar 4:34pm βrian:

Bowles was the author, if that's what cha mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Handy Haversack:

Getting set to take off. Thanks, Fabio! Enjoyed it. Later on, all you failstrongs. And thank you, Charlotte Rampling, wherever you are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm steveo:

that wasp sure seems like it had a lot to drink!
  4:44pm jess:

I am so thirsty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Carmichael:

These pretzels are making me thirsty.
  4:46pm nardo:

the sound of recorded water like that is sort of like kryptonite to my ears. it's like being water boarded without actual water. drives me insane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Fabio - could you give some info on the guys in Storm Bugs during the next break? I looked them up in Discogs and there's a huge gap between releases.
Avatar 4:46pm Lixiviated Life:

When I was young,
I used to go with my grandmother
to fill up water bottles from a local spring.
I would help her carry the green glass gallon jugs
(emptied CR Cellars Fortissimo Wine bottles).
The spring was a tap that needed a special "key" to open.
The water was so cold.
The bottles made a deep sounding "klank"
during the car ride home.
Avatar 4:47pm TDK60:

nardo: sometimes bongos get to me, other times, not.
  4:56pm Andres:

Loving this Hearts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I see the pumpkins have disappeared. Marathon time is approaching.
Avatar 5:03pm TDK60:

I think it was DJ Daniel Blumin put a Storm Bug track on his annual premium CD, maybe in '19.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Thanks for the info, Fabio!
  5:08pm Miss G:

Andres, I also was losing it over "Hearts" by Jon Mueller! Going to check him out. Great for Valentine's Day, like "Written on the Wind" (not "To Have and Have Not.")
Avatar 5:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Is anyone experiencing any issues with the playlist today, on any device they have? We're doing a final test of these better playlists before switching over to them for good, and we'd love to hear about any problems we haven't spotted yet. Please say so here, or email kenzo at wfmu.org , or fill out this form: wfmu.org...
  5:10pm nic:

love this!!!
Avatar 5:13pm Chris from DC:

Seconding Nic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Yes! I love anything Sinistri/Starfuckers related.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Sinistri is like if you took a copy of Bitches Brew and randomly used a hole puncher on it.
Avatar 5:19pm Fredericks:

Geoff Mullen was the heavy feedback/drone piece and Sinistri is the more percussive/jagged piece?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Fredericks - correct!
  5:23pm ?:

kenzo, i'd lose the margin on the div.songs css - /*v2/13/20*/ delete line 22; also, would remove the border attribute from the html creating the table.playlistcommentsform (or override w css)
  5:23pm Andres:

Further to that Jon Muller track - I was ready to commit to that chant for the rest of the show of it went that way! I was reminded of that Mad Men episode where Harry reluctantly attends a Hare Krishna meeting with Paul and by the end the whole room is a sweaty mess after some ecstatic chanting. Loved it!
  5:23pm spodiodi:

oops, forgot my name on the last 2 recommended tweaks re: new form
Avatar 5:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@spodiodi Reasonable tips, thanks! Feel free to elaborate on 'em...
  5:29pm spodiodi:

glad to offer, Kenzo -- my pleasure. love your work. the remove marign on .songs is to get rid of the unwated space above it's scrollbar currently; and the second is to lose the ugly raised border around the comments form (i think that was just an oversight/ default attribute setting maybe)
  5:31pm spodiodi:

Fabio, great show ... been enjoying and trying to sort out my email to offer the above comments on the new playlist via email instead of spamming your accu, but failed -apologies and cheers- =)
Avatar 5:36pm Chris from DC:

Beautiful stuff, this Charles Curtis
Avatar 5:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@spodiodi Reload and see...
  5:44pm spodiodi:

Kenzo, looking good -- i can see another change fixed some anticipated fallout as well. nice
  5:45pm spodiodi:

(also see small fallout, and will offer better comment)
  5:47pm spodiodi:

i'd remove all the margin on .songs on every side, and add padding instead
  5:48pm spodiodi:

.songs { margin: 0; padding: .4em; } - then i'd learn what else i messed up doing that ;)
Avatar 5:48pm Fredericks:

This piece makes me think of Bill Frisell.
  5:50pm spodiodi:

Kenzo, I'll try to sort my email and be more helpful (great fun.)
Fabio, (/all) apologies for the chatter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm chresti:

Very enjoyable sounds, Fabio, thanks again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Rich in Washington:

Love that Sato album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar 5:54pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks spodiodi, and thanks Fabio for the really useful testing ground today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Thanks for the great show, Fabio! I always love your last songs too. Inspired 70s Island recs, RCA Bowie/Reed et al.
