A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@JohnFFP, Trouble & Snooch...You would be surprised at the collection we have here. I've worked at the Art Center for 29 years. Guest from all over the world end up saying, "We never expected anything like this in Des Moines."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am Handy Haversack:

@Strand, a friend of ours worked in fund raising for the Des Moines Orchestra (Philharmonic?) for several years before moving on to PA. Had good things to say about the arts scene in Des Moines.

The alien wanted to communicate with whales but they were extinct. So, back in time, naturally!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am steveo:

why does kindle insist on skipping all the front matter in a book? doesn't everyone read the copyright page when they start reading a book???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Webhamster Henry:

As Microtonalist , trafficing amongst uber-nerdy scale theorists, I find that pitch is overrated.

Avatar 10:07am Trouble:

oooo i see what you mean @ brian. i guess it's in anticipation of the march fundraising madness that actually starts in february
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am sphere:

@ hinorm - agreed. i think musicians feel pressure to explain themselves when they can't, and a fair amount of nonsense gets generated as a result.

  10:11am hinorm:

@sphere So true. My band was interviewed on college radio show once. The hosts always want you to give deep explanations of your music. I think my band answered the truth - our songs didn't mean anything - followed by dead air.

But what about the poor Irish Water Setter that got kicked out for standing her ground when the judge got handsy? She gave clear signals when she lunged at the judge, but that damn judge kept trying to put hands on her.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am ifeelfatnsassy:

It actually looks like Simone, the Irish Water Setter, might have been *stepped on* by the judge, explaining her behavior. Who can blame her for not wanting that judge to examine her.
