Avatar 3:30pm Erica:

That reminds me Larry, Charlie Brown's Valentines Day special is on tomorrow night at 8 on ABC
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Erica! I'll set the recorder!
Avatar 3:33pm Erica:

For some reason though, they edit out the part when Linus and Violet are talking in the candy store about what to get their teacher, which makes one of the later scenes not make sense. Must be for timing reasons.
Avatar 3:33pm Erica:

teachers I mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah, more commercials now that there were 30-40 years ago. It's a shame they edit like that
Avatar 3:36pm Brian in UK:

Larry, excuse my ignorance but what is the difference twixt Tamla and Gordy.
Avatar 3:36pm Erica:

Thankfully that edited scene can be watched on YouTube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Funky16Corners:

Brian, Motown had a number of subsidiary labels, Tamla, Gordy, SOUL, VIP etc
Avatar 3:39pm Brian in UK:

Ah, thanks.
Avatar 3:40pm Erica:

Say Larry could you please put that in writing? If not here, your Facebook page is fine. Thanks!
Avatar 3:42pm Jeff Ash:

Late to the party, but greetings from work on a Wisconsin afternoon when it has warmed to 11 above with a wind chill of 4 below.
Avatar 3:43pm Erica:

Hi Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - Put what in writing? About Otis?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm doctorjazz:

Otis! This is definitely going to mess up work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Funky16Corners:

Get up and dance!
Avatar 3:45pm Erica:

No Larry about your program schedule for the next few weeks.
Avatar 3:45pm Brian in UK:

Larry, Otis' You Left the Water Running on the FAME box set is so good, think that it is a demo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Funky16Corners:

Just like Ducky Boy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - I will!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm doctorjazz:

Otis chokes me up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Funky16Corners:

Can you guys hear me singing along?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Funky16Corners:

@Doc - Me too. His undeniable greatness and the depth of his soul were remarkable.
Avatar 4:04pm Brian in UK:

Sad to say that I remember his passing, I was only about fifteen and it did not sink in until much later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Funky16Corners:

A huge loss.
Avatar 4:11pm Brian in UK:

He played the Whiskey and Monterey, quite a crossover for those times.
Avatar 4:11pm SquigY0:

wow was holding my breath for that whole set. nothing short of incredible
Avatar 4:11pm Sem:

May I just say that these are the finest 71 minutes of music I have heard in some time. I may go to my rest now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Funky16Corners:

@Brian - Can you imagine where he would have gone had he lived?
Avatar 4:19pm Jeff Ash:

Sad but true: Our house in Madison, Wisconsin, was a mile north of where Otis Redding's plane crashed into Lake Monona in December 1967. We moved there 20 years later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Funky16Corners:

Isn't there a memorial by the lake?
Avatar 4:22pm Jeff Ash:

Yes, in downtown Madison. I often thought about Otis and the crash while running along the lake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Funky16Corners:

I can imagine. There was a piece of the plane at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both touching and macabre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm doctorjazz:

Dark End...one of the greatest ballads EVER!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah,w hat a story, and what a voice James Carr had to tell it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm doctorjazz:

I haven't heard bad versions of it, but Carr's is fabulous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Funky16Corners:

Dan Penn and Chips Moman. Can you imagine having written a song that good?
Avatar 4:40pm SquigY0:

/me sways
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm doctorjazz:

The Burrito Brothers loved these (and covered them) as well.

(I also recall a great version by Taj Mahal).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Funky16Corners:

This is William Bell's song, but I think Otis Clay does the definitive version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Funky16Corners:

@Doc - I love the Burritos version
Avatar 4:42pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi Larry! Just got home.....with a pastrami.
Avatar 4:42pm SquigY0:

/me steals that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Funky16Corners:

Franco! Pastrami!
Avatar 4:44pm Erica:

/me imitates SquigY0:
Avatar 4:45pm SquigY0:

Avatar 4:45pm Brian in UK:

Great show, Larry. Somehow sounds even better through the radio.
Avatar 4:45pm Erica:

Had to do it. Haha!
Avatar 4:46pm SquigY0:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Brian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm doctorjazz:

But. Franco, is it REAL pastrami (a hard thing to get...in my neck of the w woods, only Lox, Stock, and Deli makes the grade. The Second Avenue Deli is my Manhattan source).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm doctorjazz:

Great show, thanks Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Funky16Corners:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm doctorjazz:

@Cupcakejenny...?
Avatar 4:58pm Erica:

Thank you for the soulful Valentines Day episode of Testily Larry.
Avatar 4:58pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay here is the deal Doc - Where I got todays sammich is this place called The Hat, which at one time used Cooks as a supplier, which was top shelf. It's been awhile since I've had one, and frankly I was underwhelmed. Too salty, and boiled not steamed. Not as good as I remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm doctorjazz:

Sorry to hear it, Franco (my experience with most pastrami)
Avatar 5:00pm Franco Twinkie:

live and learn.
Avatar 5:00pm Jeff Ash:

Thanks, Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah, Doc, Harolds has excellent pastrami. Jennyw as asking if you were going yo Lock Stock and Bagel in Milltown. We used to go there when we lived in South River
Avatar 5:02pm Franco Twinkie:

I'll try and be on time next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Funky16Corners:

Wednesday 3-5!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm doctorjazz:
