Hi Kris. I passed out sometime after 8:30 last week. I listened during the week. Lots of good tunes. Noticed you didn’t play any Robert Parker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Matt from New Orleans:

This the stream?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Matt from New Orleans:

‘Twas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Matt from New Orleans:

The long wait home tonight
Avatar 10:06pm Kris Holmes:

Hi Matt, yeah I forgot to open iTunes!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Matt from New Orleans:

I almost went to see Raphael Saadiq tonight but when I found out he wasn’t going on till after 10 at the earliest I decided against it. My friend works at the venue and texted me earlier to see if I wanted to go.
Avatar 10:10pm Kris Holmes:

He would probably be good, never seen him
  10:11pm Little Danny:

Hey Kris, hey y’all, loved “Woman Hang Your Head”
Avatar 10:12pm Kris Holmes:

it's great for sure!! And cheap!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Matt from New Orleans:

He had a two solid openers as well. It would have been fun but I couldn’t get a single friend to be my plus one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Danny. I heard another cover of across the universe since Thursday and thought of you. I already forgot who the performer was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Matt from New Orleans:

The doc is really good
Avatar 10:23pm Kris Holmes:

yes it's fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Matt from New Orleans:

Solid Fats cover
Avatar 10:27pm Kris Holmes:

it really is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Matt from New Orleans:

I find when I have less invested in a song that I’m more open to covers
Avatar 10:30pm Kris Holmes:

like they're not destroying something sacred?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Little Danny:

@Matt: I'm pleased to be associated with the song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Matt from New Orleans:

Pretty much. I forgot Roy Brown released it first but I thinks it’s fair to call a song Dave & Fats wrote and had a hit with to say it’s a Fats Domino song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Little Danny:

Drums on " "Something's Got A Hold On Me"!
Avatar 10:36pm Sean B.:

Fantastic show as usual!. Finally getting a chance to tune in live. Thanks for the sounds!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Sean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Matt from New Orleans:

Haven’t heard this for a bit. Still sounding really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Matt from New Orleans:

Wanda Rouzan still performs around town
Avatar 10:44pm Kris Holmes:

she is great still too
Avatar 10:46pm still b/p:

Mr. Lee is such a winner of a song...a familiar direction/style, but so happily its own thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Matt from New Orleans:

Yup
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Matt from New Orleans:

The Dixie Cups still sound great. Only one original member but one of the Neville sisters is part of the group.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Matt from New Orleans:

I’m wrong. The Hawkins sisters are both original. Just Althegra isn’t
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Matt from New Orleans:

Athelgra uncommon name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Matt from New Orleans:

The Dixie Cups are New Orleans too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Matt from New Orleans:

That’s fucking ridiculous but not the most disgusting things I’ve seen in Washington Square Park
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Matt from New Orleans:

But one of my favorite people in the world is Thiru who runs an incredible Dosa cart in the park.
Avatar 10:57pm Sean B.:

Signed back in to say Hello and also we'll wishes to you Matt, Kris and all. Wishing a pleasant night to you from MA.
Avatar 10:57pm still b/p:

It if it had been successful, young actors and others hustling to make NY rent could expand beyond hired dog-walking to hired doo-saucing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Matt from New Orleans:

My buddy Richie aka Maharishi HiFi did a Studio One show in honor of what would have been Coxsone’s 88 birthday. It was really good. Listened to it earlier today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Matt from New Orleans:

My cousin was really into reggae in the 80s and she insisted on going to Coxsone’s studio in Brooklyn. At that time, the area of Brooklyn was pretty much a war zone as competing drug operations fought over turf. My dad insisted on taking her and I went along. Coxsone was a true gentleman and he had no sessions booked that day so he just told us stories. I had no fucking clue who he was at the time as I was maybe 8 or 9. She bought a bunch of records and we left. As soon as we step outside, one junkie decides to stab his other junkie buddy for no apparent reason as they hadn’t been arguing. Crazy day.
Avatar 11:07pm Kris Holmes:

Dang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm Matt from New Orleans:

My cousin was visiting from Israel and was definitely naive about what she might have been heading into.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Matt from New Orleans:

Snooks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm Matt from New Orleans:

His name isn’t even spelled properly on that record. It’s Fird.
Avatar 11:19pm Kris Holmes:

Ha, true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Matt from New Orleans:

This is one of my favorite songs from New Orleans. Love Guitar Slim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Matt from New Orleans:

Some Chicago blues. Another early love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

enjoying this set verrrrry much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm Matt from New Orleans:

Would it have cost Fire that much more to put the “re” at the end of his name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm Matt from New Orleans:

Sounded just like Gloria for a sec
Avatar 11:35pm Kris Holmes:

yep, heavy Gloria vibes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Matt from New Orleans:

This picture sleeve is amazing

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Matt from New Orleans:
