"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

This is exactly what I need at work on Friday morning at the end of a shitty week. Thank you, Dr. John Allen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am steveo:

Best. Doctor. Ever. And then I opened my fridge to find this gem in it. All you ever-so-civilians will have to make do with this small, delicious lemon lime jelly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am steveo:

Oops, sorry, wrong window. Good morning JA & everyone!
Avatar 9:28am đ¢ ÞäŦ:

That Arrington is pretty talented.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am George of Troy:

Morning John
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Rob (Jerzcity):

Is anyone able to do this? I can get the single "didgeridoo" note, but no overtones. And only for about 5 seconds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Handy Haversack:

steveo, does that mean the lemon lime jelly is off the table?
Avatar 9:34am đ¢ ÞäŦ:

@Rob - same. It takes a life time of practice from what I understand which is why I was surprised Arrington is so good at it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am steveo:

i found that recchion piece inspiring
@hh it rolled off the table and onto the floor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am sphere:

HULLO um hullo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Passaic River Blues:

FYI JAZZ FANS: Kim Sorise on the Drummer stream has been playing a fair amount of Doug Hammond of late.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Krys O.:

@steveo, now you have me thinking about songs about jelly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Krys O.:

Gorgeous set, JA.
  9:56am Mike Wolf:

Further FYI JAZZ FANS: Stockton and the Mailman will forever be their greatest duo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am steveo:

@krys perhaps you can do a jelly fill-in sometime
Avatar 10:05am John Allen:

DJ jelly roll fill in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jerz - "Pistol" Pete Maravich was such a talent. Sad that he left us so early. Another great JAZZ player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am sphere:

Bringing a new twist to "JAZZ hands."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Rob (Jerzcity):

@Ken - agreed. Pretty decent movie about him I watched a bunch as a kid as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am David (in London):

Greetings Amsters. London calling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am Nulsh:

Hey David! Yer' back!
  10:18am Brendan:

Still don’t understand why the Jazz kept their name when they moved from New Orleans to Utah. Those Mormons and their devil music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am David (in London):

Hey Nulsh. Yes, the real world got irritatingly in the way for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am Rob (Jerzcity):

getting some nice Ogurusu Norihide vibes here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am steveo:

brendan, for the street cred
  10:23am Brendan:

Andre Ethier really found his true calling after baseball
Avatar 10:25am Hubig Pie:

The owner of the Jazz left town in a late night type deal. He retained the name 'cuz it was his team
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am steveo:

i hear he's working on an collab with mark mcguire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am steveo:

also the Lakers, having moved from Minnestota, quickly dismissed the idea of changing to the Los Angeles Tar Pits
  10:30am Brendan:

Owners should leave team names. The Colts for one (speaking of guys who absconded with the teams in the middle of the night). Otherwise you might end up with the Chicago Dolphins, the Toronto Heat, or the San Fransisco Packers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am steveo:

"On June 10, 2007, Ethier sang the Canadian national anthem in Los Angeles where the Dodgers were hosting his hometown Toronto Blue Jays. He got the gig because he shares his name with Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier"
  10:40am Brendan:

Props to the DJ for a soothing set.
Dragging ass through Friday with a hangover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am steveo:

scared me, thought it was thursday for a sec
Avatar 10:47am JakeGould:

Is Thursday for jazz now?
Avatar 10:52am John Allen:

steveo heard the birds, and he is afraid of trouble. we all are.
  10:52am Mike Wolf:

purposely left radio on during dog walk so we could pad back inside to the sound of Dadamah, low-key sublime life haq
  10:53am Mike Wolf:

the Browns became the Ravens so there could be a NewBrowns
  10:54am Mike Wolf:

the Browns only became the Ravens because of the aforementioned unmentionable Irsay midnight scramble out of Baltimore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am steveo:

nah, trouble is good; just ready for the weekend is all
  11:00am Mike Wolf:

Georgehendersonia!
Avatar 11:01am Hubig Pie:

3 day weekends make you feel like a knocked-out crazy cuckoo king.
6 day work weeks make you feel like a lowly day laborer
  11:08am Andy (DC):

Which was the "most relaxing" song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am TomDash:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am steveo:

same; released November 1, 2019
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am steveo:

wasn't sure what it was until i realized there's a double bass, so definitely jazz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am adampsyche:

that was great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am TomDash:

Yeah Steveo - never heard them before this record...Seattle area folks I believe. The record even delves into, dare I say...JAZZ!
  11:23am jess:

I Got Rhythm, do it. I heard it first on a Smithsonian Classic Jazz collection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Carmichael:

Avatar 11:39am Hubig Pie:

How big is an FCC fine for an F bomb ?
Avatar 11:40am John Allen:

big enough i had to kill it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Carmichael:

This song reminds me: I finally saw the Viv Stanshall bio Canyons of His Mind. Wonderful film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am David (in London):

Then no playing John Cooper Clarke's 'Evidently Chicken Town' then JA...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am David (in London):

@Carmichael - I love that footage of the Bonzos doing that song on Colour Me Pop. Viv in his giant papier mache head. It's just glorious.
