Also, those bands were playing 6000 years ago, so that checks out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm crateslinger:

@berbo - BAHA!
  3:08pm BH:

  3:08pm Beetlemuse:

Nice an Interpol cover song! Hey All!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Handy Haversack:

Gotta take the cat to the vet. Maybe FMU'll come in in the car today ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Passaic River Blues:

Such an excellent cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Phillippe Bastille:

This Day Wave is awesome!
Avatar 3:13pm βrian:

Just about to ask: Is this a Mose Allison cover? And yes.
  3:14pm berbo:

This is the song that made me a Mose Allison fan.
Well, that, and that Who song he covered.
Avatar 3:15pm Irwin:

Handy: checkup or emergency?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm G:

Too bad we can't have a Whitney Houston/Marc Bolan duet at the induction ceremony
Avatar 3:15pm Irwin:

The Who covered Young Man Blues. The Yardbirds covered I'm Not Talking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Handy Haversack:

Hopefully not quite an emergency, but she is not feeling well. Back when I can!
Avatar 3:17pm Irwin:

Give her a head-rub for me.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm SSS:

Bet they keep 'em in the fridge ya know...that'll do it to the bananas ya know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm AnAnonymousParty:

Great, just what we need, another coder that produces stuff that burns more CPU cycles than it needs to not really do anything useful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm SSS:

My Moms father was a fruit and vegetable push cart guy, probably the '30 & '40s
  3:34pm Dean:

That band opening for Matthews Southern Comfort et al., The Road, featured Steve Hackett before he joined Genesis.
  3:36pm Laura L:

Yay, Ann Lever. Crazy busy here but tuned in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm brainiac:

She's crazy alright. Thanks for the glorious incorrectness, Irwin.
Avatar 3:36pm Snoochienucci:

muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than the version Staych played earlier
Avatar 3:36pm mariano:

Ann Lever should tour with Wing - imagine that encore duet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm SSS:

And drunk, I think?
  3:38pm John in Bklyn:

I always like that better than Patsy's.
2001 Incorrect Music Companion!
  3:39pm choggie:

in the 3rd grade when BW Stevenson's lp came out....I used to sing My Maria, 'Diarrhea'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Carmichael:

Don't think I've ever heard the BW Stevenson version of this.
  3:39pm Earth Walker:

To cool haven’t heard this band in a long time
  3:39pm choggie:

...try it
Avatar 3:40pm Irwin:

I've listened to Ann Lever's rendition 100x. It never fails to delight. She's earnest.
  3:40pm xangoir:

Happy mother's house much more musqo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Alison Porchnik:

Is this Boettcher cover new?
Avatar 3:44pm Irwin:

AP: 2014, but just recently discovered
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Phillippe Bastille:

This Boys is really pretty. Haven't heard it before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm brainiac:

I like her voice, but I'm not feeling this drummer
Avatar 3:48pm Snoochienucci:

this is niceeeeeeeeeeee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm AnAnonymousParty:

Go big or go home, one supposes.
Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Manana:

Simple weak name fix: BöYS! Yup, that'll do 'er.
  3:55pm berbo:

  3:59pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, Irwin. I don't think I ever heard of a musician's having had a drug problem, they seem immune to such things.
Avatar 4:00pm Irwin:

Robert: I know, I know. One in a million.
  4:00pm Dave from Brooklyn:

Now datsome boowgwugee!
  4:00pm berbo:

@Robert - this guy didn't have a 'drug' problem, he had a 'drug treatment' problem.
Avatar 4:04pm dale:

Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Manana:

Eddy Current was a nice jolt.
  4:15pm g:

So meta
  4:16pm g:

I enjoy songs about the song I’m listening to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Alison Porchnik:

I never noticed how VU-ish this song is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Alison Porchnik:

Just a little bit anyway.
Avatar 4:18pm Irwin:

In a Doug Yule kinda VUway.
Avatar 4:19pm Jersey Cowboy:

Sounds kinda Pavement-ish
Avatar 4:19pm Irwin:

Good cowbell.
  4:19pm John in Bklyn:

I was thinking T-Rexian.?
  4:20pm John in Bklyn:

The classic LP™ Black Beauty.
Avatar 4:20pm Jersey Cowboy:

Its a rorschach song
Avatar 4:21pm mariano:

Remarkable how much Belle & Sebastian's sound has changed.
  4:21pm Dean:

Actually, that B&S track sounds like Mojave 3, particularly later M3, whose Puzzles Like You appeared in the same year as The Life Pursuit.
Avatar 4:21pm βrian:

Sheep bells have a nicer tone, in any case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Mark Hurst:

A+ show today, Irwin
  4:22pm Dean:

Scott Amendola, whom I see now and then around town, should cover Amon Düül.
Avatar 4:23pm Irwin:

'Allo, Mr. Technicus.
  4:36pm John from Florham park:

Anyone going to listen to EFD show about WBCN tonite
  4:40pm John in Bklyn:

This is the older, thinner style cowbell. It has more of an actual cowbell sound. Perfect for Spencer Davis Group excursions.
Avatar 4:43pm Snoochienucci:

Awesome set so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Handy Haversack:

Back from the vet. Hope is that all will be well! Sounded great in the car.
  4:44pm Eedyaat:

Way to go Reynold!
  4:45pm John from Florham park:

@Handy good was kinda worried about your kitty cat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm brainiac:

Really digging this McCartney remix bed music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm brainiac:

Could probably benefit from more cowbell, though. (tips fedora)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Ike:

Not really a Double Dip Recess listeners but The Iron Giant is excellent and you don't need to be a kid to appreciate it. You just need to like giant robots and hints of anti-McCarthyism. Uh oh....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, @John from FP. It is definitely stressful time when these creatures are suffering. Lulu is hiding now and trying to recover her dignity. Hoping she'll come out to eat in a while.
  4:53pm Kolchak:

The Phil Manzanera Diamond Head recording is GREAT! It was a hard to find album back in the day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Ike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm thatpatsmith:

Mighty Sparrow! Just like old time
  4:55pm The Butterman:

Ooooooooo la la, is it Muriel’s closet time?
Avatar 4:56pm Irwin:

Handy: Good thoughts for Lulu. Mrrrrow!
Avatar 4:56pm coelacanth∅:

one of Muriel's treasures
Avatar 4:57pm mariano:

Now I want roti, naan, and kachoris!
  4:57pm John from Florham park:

@Handy guess she is not happy with you now:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Handy Haversack:

No, she is mightily offended, and the other two cats and the dog do not help the situation! She's under the bed.

Thanks for the kind wishes, you all!
Avatar 5:00pm dale:

is this renaissance?
  5:01pm John from Florham park:

@Handy I think everyone can sympathize with you about your fur kid
Avatar 5:01pm coelacanth∅:

i'll have what he's having ^
Avatar 5:01pm dale:

started like kings and queens from relf/mccarty's renaissance. which is probably just a classical composer...
Avatar 5:02pm dale:

handy - glad kitty is okay...usually when they don't eat it's bad news.
Avatar 5:04pm Irwin:

When my kitty doesn't eat, it means time to flush another wasted can of rejected "gourmet" cat food down the loo. She's picky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm brainiac:

  5:12pm John from Florham park:

Tiny Tim OH MY
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Aitch:

Yay Tiny Tim
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Handy Haversack:

@Irwin, the good news is we have two other eating machines happy to pick up the gourmet-food slack!
Avatar 5:13pm coelacanth∅:

funny how both Tiny Tim and Jim Morrison disprove one of the lines of this song
  5:19pm berbo:

Back in the day, one of my dad's friends left an 8-track tape of Sinatra and friends at our house.
I recorded a gamelan record on top of it, with interesting results.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm full metal monkey:

Hi all. Loving the PJ.
  5:24pm prudy:

ain't PJ great!!!
  5:25pm huomenta:

uh huh her is a truly underrated album, thanks for this.
Avatar 5:26pm coelacanth∅:

always thankful when someone puts on PJ's
  5:28pm huomenta:

also earlier on, liliput sounded really good, I ought to get their stuff(also kleenex)
Avatar 5:29pm coelacanth∅:

huomenta -and what i think is my favorite album of hers, which gets overlooked because it's credited to "John Parish and Polly Jean Harvey"; or sometimes just John Parish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Aitch:

Never thought I'd hear Kyuss/QotSA on WFMU, and then I didn't 'cause it's a cover. Great track.
Avatar 5:30pm Irwin:

Aitch: I've aired the original and other QotSA.
  5:31pm huomenta:

@coela y. e. s. I stupidly ignored her white chalk-era solo shows, I mean if something sounds good as a poor quality audience recording (the live bootlegs I have heard from 2007), it must be really something else!
Avatar 5:31pm litmuspie:

Polly Jean *swoons*
  5:32pm huomenta:

@coela are not there two of these albums with j. parish?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm full metal monkey:

@aitch. I thought the same when I heard the song regular John start playing. Lol
Avatar 5:34pm Irwin:

Aitch: QotSA on 124 archived playlists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Aitch:

Close as I've gotten @Irwin, but I'm +16 hours so I get the more outre shows later in the day. 9:30 am Thursday here. Not saying never played, just not when I'm listening.
  5:38pm huomenta:

A Woman a Man Walked By is my favourite of the two and actually much better than her latest album for instance. Let England Shake was quite good, but the one after that I am not really fond of. Anyway she is a killer in a live situation!
Avatar 5:39pm coelacanth∅:

huomenta i think he had everything to do with the music for several of her albums -she being responsible for the lyrics and vocals.
don't quote me on this!
Avatar 5:42pm SimplyTC:

Hey, what was that rock song a few tunes back “open up your eyes”
Avatar 5:42pm coelacanth∅:

...okay i am mistaken about that, and yes you are correct - just 2.
(John did contribute voice and instrumentation on a few more though; just not writing credits)
Avatar 5:43pm coelacanth∅:

oh -just saw that @5.38. i've heard it but i don't own it. i will listen further!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Aitch:

@SimplyTC, Regular John, a cover of Queens of the Stoneage from their first album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm brainiac:

I'm not crying, you're crying
Avatar 5:45pm SimplyTC:

Excellent, THANK YOU! Love it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Aitch:
