  3:22pm
Brendan:

I think, for Fabio’s theme, Ennio Morricone needs to be commissioned to do something (and soon, while he is still alive). It needs to be something on a grand scale. It would be his magnum opus, rendering his previous compositions "The Ecstasy of Gold", "Se Telefonando", "Man with a Harmonica" obsolete and basically demos compared to the scale of “Fabio’s Theme”. Men and women would openly weep at its beauty and children would sing it to begin each school day.

For the longest time, Rez 3rd RNR were the only versions of those tunes I knew. When I would end up hearing them on the LA oldies stations like KRLA or K-Earth, I always chuckled to myself- the best kind of a quiet inside joke.

Brendan:

I am in favor of any theme song composed on non-traditional instruments or noise emanating (or enemating) devices. A rubber band stretched over a resonant object and plucked. A detuned bicycle spoke. A formerly French horn that now plays Germanic notes.

any of you lurking musicians ever use software called Alda?

"Standard music notation doesn’t have symbols for note lengths that aren’t powers of 2, but Alda is a text format; we can easily support any denominator note length, so we do! As you’re composing music with Alda, remember that you can experiment with note lengths that aren’t powers of 2. As a result, you’re bound to come up with some uncommon and very interesting rhythms."
