The one Thai restaurant close to me has Pho on the menu. They also had Bulgogi and Poi. So they might be trying to cover the turf that isn't represented by other restaurants near my midwestern suburb

Aquarius Records was a huge influence in introducing thai...cambodia...and other Asian pop to the world...where else would you read about it...
  9:32pm franc:

did Cambodia Rocks start this whole genre...that would be my question...thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm ultradamno:

I think the CR vinyl in '95 was the first SE Asian 60s garage rock I heard, but there had been comps of Japanese stuff before then.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm ultradamno:

Those two pages do nicely illustrate Ben's point about lack of artist credits (unknown artist, unknown title over and over) the later series from the Cambodian Rocks label did better. www.discogs.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm WR:

Very very much enjoyed the Thai music feature with knowledgeable guest host. Wish more was played. Recently started reading a novel by Thai American. Bangkok Wakes to Rain by Pitchaya Sudbanthad; a multi threaded fiction with characters in Bangkok which included a late 1960s Afro-American jazz pianist who had had some minor past success. I knew there would have been similar musicians but didn't know of Maurice Rocco who has to be at least in part the source for the character.
