Hello Olivia and everybody!
  3:08pm question:

is food art edible
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

Oh man, Holly and the Italians! Takes me back! Thank you Olivia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Michael 98145:

Yes!
Avatar 3:10pm βrian:

As for olives, oil-cured or brined?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm tim from champaign (now washington):

I've got mixed feeling already about today's show. On one hand, it's intriguing and the art looks great. On the other hand, it is completely unfair to display food that cannot be eaten. I mean, look at that sandwich and dumplings!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Aaron Working In Newark:

Good afternoon Olivia!
Avatar 3:12pm βrian:

I distract myself with thoughts of rosemary popovers and lobster bisque.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Cal Zone!:

I saw Holly and The Italians open up for Stiv Bator and The Wanderers at the Old Peppermint Lounge on 45th st in 1980 or 81. The Ramones were all in the audience. Later on in the evening I watched Stiv run, trip, and fall down the center flight of stairs of the club, then scramble, and jump up on the stage to join his band at the beginning of their set. Magic moments.
Avatar 3:13pm Hubig Pie:

Oil cured olives for me please
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Krys O.:

I worked in a quirky boutique in the late 80s and we sold food sculptures like this pouring beer: www.worthpoint.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Krys O.:

We also sold this spaghetti sculpture: www.worthpoint.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Krys O.:

And similar items that were fridge magnets. I am REALLY hungry now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm full metal monkey:

Avatar 3:41pm βrian:

Squid brand fish sauce for me, thanks.
  3:46pm yippie:

I don't like the atmosphere so much in the dumpling shop next to the funeral house on mulberry and mosco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Ike:

Should only an artist from New Jersey make a ceramic Taylor ham or pork roll? And should only a north Jersey artist make a ceramic one labeled "Taylor ham" and should only a central or south Jersey artist make one labeled "pork roll"?
  3:49pm Mr. Palchepo.:

This is just great Olivia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Webhamster Henry:

This is fun! You should interview Mayuko about her art!
  3:51pm yippie:

OMG this reminds me so much of hai ting chinn singing the Twinkie ingredients opera on Wendy Williams show
Avatar 3:53pm Franco Twinkie:

This is a good subject, no it's a great subject. Well, maybe it's the only subject.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm mariano:

This is really interesting, Olivia - I always love the music you play, but this is a nice way to change things up a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Ike:

@yippie@3:38, agreed, North Dumpling is good. And go to the HK Food Court under the Hong Kong Supermarket in Flushing for even better dumplings. One of those stalls is a Dumpling Galaxy location, I think. 50 great frozen dumplings for $20ish.
Avatar 3:58pm Martinibomb:

Oh I am totally with this artist. I know the exact feeling she's talking about as far as no art degree/teaching yourself. Great interview. Touching on some great things.
Avatar 4:00pm Franco Twinkie:

Thankfully, you don't need an advanced degree to appreciate food.
Avatar 4:00pm Martinibomb:

@olivia oh I am so in the same head space with social media. Trying very hard to engage more with it
Avatar 4:00pm Martinibomb:

hey! Franco

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Yes:

i still need to check out the book, how to do nothing
Avatar 4:05pm Martinibomb:

@franco I'm at another radio station in addition to wfmu and have been wanting to do a show with local artists where I have visual artists come in and chat and get local electronic artists to do a live soundtrack behind the interview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm olivia:

heya martinibomb, yes, franco twinkie, brian d, and all! thanks for your comments :) great to have you here listening with me
Avatar 4:06pm Martinibomb:

I like how Olivia has the ambient music going behind the interview so I wanna do something like that but more on the live side
Avatar 4:07pm Martinibomb:

@olivia inspirational show today!

Avatar 4:12pm Martinibomb:

I think I have seen Stephanie Shih .. pretty sure she did something here in Portland Oregon somewhat recently.. I work at Laika so I run into many sculpture/ceramic people
  4:13pm JakeGould:

@MattWarwick: I would love for you to love having that.
Avatar 4:14pm Franco Twinkie:

I love the idea of making representations of food and selling them so you can buy food.
Avatar 4:15pm βrian:

Ceramic twinkies might last as long as the real ones.
