Holy crap, kick me in the face!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Mr. Pumpy:

This band sucks, they only put out two records in 2019.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am mariano:

Man, there's a lot of hate for the Pats, huh? Don't keep up with it much myself, down here it's all Saints all the time.

NYC, mariano. Yeah.

We're deep in the guitar fuzz, now! I haven't listened to the new Torche yet...sounds pretty sweet.

Torche's album is sickkk. My go-to music for dishwashing/headbanging (otherwise known as dishbanging?)

Avatar 12:24am JakeGould:

This Church of Misery is kinda preachy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am mariano:

Sounds like my kinda church!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am mariano:

Hah! Looks like I walked right into that one huh?
  12:25am ignatatus666:

Was that Paul Bearer from Sheer Terror?
Avatar 12:26am JakeGould:

@BH: I grew up in NYC during the era when that U2 song was played all of the time on New Years Day and honestly, U2 was tolerable at that point. But nowadays… Errr.…
Avatar 12:27am JakeGould:

Gotta be honest, I smile when I think about the year 2020. What a cool and perfectly symmetrical name. When was that last the case? 1919?
Avatar 12:30am Keilidh:

@jake - I like the year too. similarly, 2002 happened!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am Ken From Hyde Park:

Rush envisioned 2112 at one point. That should be a good year.
Avatar 12:32am JakeGould:

Oh! That is right. And 1991 too… But it’s like a mirror thing when it’s opposite. Like good/evil. 2020 is like doubling up on fun. And Mad Dog 20/20 is releasing a “special” bum wine on 02/02/2020. No joke!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Mr. Pumpy:

Does anyone else think the last minute thirty of that Church of Misery song is a direct homage to SLEEEP'S Inside the Sun? It has almost the exact riff and vocal cadence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am Mr. Pumpy:

Move over Silverchair...I'm planting my ass on the Silvanthrone!
Avatar 12:33am Keilidh:

hell yeah! I'm also playing Dopethrone, if you're tired of your Dopechair

What about Dopecot?

Avatar 12:34am JakeGould:

Maybe Dopebench?
Avatar 12:36am coelacanth∅:

(i was brushing my teeth during the last minute thirty of doctor death)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Mr. Pumpy:

Ha! The Dopecot is after you are tired of the Dopethrone. I think the Dopebench is for when one is 'between jobs'.
Avatar 12:36am Keilidh:

Dopechaise

Dopehammock is when you haven’t been divorced or kicked out of home.
Avatar 12:37am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Mr. Pumpy:

I have to go do the Dopedishes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am mariano:

Mmmmm... dopedishes.
Avatar 12:38am JakeGould:

Dopesteps/Dopestoop: I live in deep Brooklyn and on nights like tonight you might see one or two people nodding off on the steps/stoop. Fun times!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Mr. Pumpy:

I was going to get a Dopesectional...but I'm just not that social.
  12:41am choggie:

Any of y'all NY area folks ever see The Atomic Bitchwax live??
Avatar 12:41am JakeGould:

There was a dope-lady in a subway station this week with a small chihuahua. She was standing over the dog — that was sitting in a small pillow — and nodding off right over it. And the derpy dog was being chill but looking up every now and then as if two think, “Here she goes again!” So sad, weird and cute.
  12:41am choggie:

They came to Houston about 5 years ago and I missed em
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Mr. Pumpy:

@JakeGould...I've called 911 one too many times for people overstaying their welcome on the DopeSteps of NYC.
Avatar 12:43am coelacanth∅:

here in my dopecarriage i feel safest of all i can lock all my doors
it's the only way to live
in dopecarriages
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am mariano:

A dopebidet can add that extra touch of class to any bathroom.
Avatar 12:44am JakeGould:

@MrPumpy: Yup. The thing is I lived in a fairly well-to-do part of Brooklyn 10 years ago, and you would see these richie-rich kids nod off and they would be scary… Because they were rich brat children of lawyers and such. In the neighborhood I live in now, the nodders are not violent and you can often talk to them and such.

Nothing is worse than a trust fund crusty in an NYC park like Union Square flipping out. Really scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am Mr. Pumpy:

I saw the Atomic Bitchwax maybe 8 or nine times. Killer. Many of them were with Ed Mundell. I saw them at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick about 15 years ago and got blasted and remember jumping up on the stage and commandeering the microphone during their cover of Dirty Deeds. Then I closed the bar and hung out with them for a while...then I woke up in may car in the parking lot around 6:30 AM. Not one of my proudest moments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Mr. Pumpy:

@Jake...to be clear...I called 911 to save their lives...not to chase them off! This was mostly before Alphabet City became gentrified. Sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am mariano:

Sounds like a hell of a proud moment to me, Mr. Pumpy!
Avatar 12:47am JakeGould:

@MrPumpy: Understood!
  12:49am bobby:

maybe no serial killer books...but maybe a real serial killer ...hopefully not...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am Mr. Pumpy:

@mariano...ha! Yeah...it wasn't too bad. I'm sure they were thinking, "Who the hell is this guy taking over vocals?!" Being Chris was busy playing bass and singing, he couldn't really stop me. I guess they weren't all that bent about it since we hung at the bar until the wee hours. I was sloppy though. Anyhow...rock n roll and all that shite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Mr. Pumpy:

@Jake...I'm glad to have never dealt with a rich, obnoxious, possibly violent Dopecrusty!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...Dopebidet. HAHA! Us workin' folk have to settle for a Dopeouthouse.
Avatar 12:54am coelacanth∅:

what's this chick's name, Nicole Dopelganger?
Avatar 12:59am JakeGould:

My fave deep Brooklyn junkie story was this out-of-state hobo/junkie couple that started to live in a small traffic island in a quiet part of the neighborhood. Meaning the “island” was more like a very small pocket park. And it was filled with junk… Until the junkie hobos showed up, cleaned it up so they could live there and they actually made it nice and clean. Neighbors appreciated it.
Avatar 1:00am Keilidh:

If I start playing Electric Wizard it will never end!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Handy Haversack:

Dopethrone!
  1:03am sly twombly:

this show is boss and is ruling all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Mr. Pumpy:

it SHOULD never end!!! Great set so far. It is making me think of a bunch of shows in the mid 90s when the doom/stoner scene was buzzing in NYC. Do you remember Sixty Watt Shaman?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am mariano:

Damn, found this clip, apparently the Russian version of the Killdozer video: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am Mr. Pumpy:

I'm tired as all get out...but I don't feel like succumbing to my Dopebed.
Avatar 1:04am Keilidh:

I'm glad you're enjoying!!
Avatar 1:05am Keilidh:

@mrpumpy - a couple quieter songs coming up that might be the perfect lullaby
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Mr. Pumpy:

@Jake...I like that story. Good premise for a film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Mr. Pumpy:

@Keilidh...sweet. In the words of DopeMoz...sing me to sleeeeeeep...
Avatar 1:07am coelacanth∅:

silly me i never considered that i might not be electric wizard coming up
Avatar 1:07am JakeGould:

Could star Vigo Morgenstern and Anna Kendrick.
Avatar 1:07am Keilidh:

DopeMoz is dead. He is now TurnsOutI'mNotDopeMoz
Avatar 1:08am Keilidh:

@coel - to be fair it is like THE album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Mr. Pumpy:

True. DoucheMoz
Avatar 1:09am JakeGould:

Everyone is such a douche thanks to social media revealing everything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am Mr. Pumpy:

@Jake...good casting!
Avatar 1:10am JakeGould:

It used to take years and decades after death for media personalities to be revealed as creeps. Now it’s like BOOM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am Mr. Pumpy:

I hear you, Jake. If you can not separate art from artist...you are screwed these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am Mr. Pumpy:

Yo...going into lullaby mode. I was thinking lush might come on for some reason...just where my brain went. This LD is killer!
Avatar 1:13am coelacanth∅:

yeh great junkie hobo story.
i've known very cool junkie hobos but in the end there's always some Fucking control freak who just needs it not to be; and they get arrested or mugged by spoiled brats or run out of town...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am mariano:

Have a good night, Mr. Pumpy.

  1:21am JakeGould:

Hobos are dying out because of all the sardines they eat. Too much oil!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am mariano:

A good cinematic Satan? Robert De Niro in Angel Heart. He has that great line: "Mephistopheles is such a mouthful in Manhattan."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am mariano:

How about a Satanic barbershop quartet?
Avatar 1:21am coelacanth∅:

lucifer and satan are very different things ("beings") and isn't "the devil" yet something else?
  1:22am JakeGould:

Jon Lovitz is the best Satan!

  1:28am Azazel:

more deaths in 2020...who's next
Avatar 1:28am coelacanth∅:

hobo culture was quite hearty in my town until just a few years ago. the business owners are aiming at a boring tourist attraction town and in their blindness they decided the tourists wont come because they're afraid of the curb critters.
...maybe afraid, but that's part of the thrill of coming to the weirdotown. it didn't deter them and now the travelers don't come around.
Avatar 1:29am coelacanth∅:

(...still have lots of junkies though)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am mariano:

What town is that, coela? I know you've told me before, but I forgot. There was a documentary a few years back on Netflix about modern hobos, was really interesting.
  1:31am one nighter:

hang with me...and your ex boyfriend poems willl become haikus...that's progress
  1:33am BH:

logged onto the Memrise site, Chrome said to change the pw because of a breach.
I didn't pay for anything through there so I think the worst they could do is learn languages on my account
Or try logging into other accounts using the info they already have, which is actually worse. So.
Avatar 1:33am coelacanth∅:

i may not have mariano i try not to mention it much but new paltz ny. it's in a book about hobo-friendly towns but it's not the case anymore, sadly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am mariano:

I know it well, coela - I have friends in the general area: Kingston, Rhinebeck, Red Hook. Good friend of mine from when I lived in NYC was from New Paltz.
Avatar 1:41am coelacanth∅:

cool. yeah several comment board people are from the area, and it's popular with some fmu show hosts. (and at least one former one who lives in high falls, or near there)
Avatar 1:42am Keilidh:

I still have trouble understanding the homelessness situation in NY, especially BK. I live in BK and grew up in New Paltz/BK... was too young to notice the situation in New Paltz but where I grew up in BK the homelessness situation was mostly vets in and out of the shelter. Where I live now in Sunset Park/Bay Ridge I'm not too familiar
Avatar 1:42am Keilidh:

and when I say homelessness I mean both the ones that stick around and the ppl who come and go
Avatar 1:43am coelacanth∅:

...i don't technically live there anymore but it's still "my town", as the village of my residence is 4 miles away and the village of new paltz is 4 miles away the other direction i still hang in the latter. i lived in np village for 11 years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am mariano:

I liked NP the times I've been there. Pretty good Mexican place on the main drag iirc.
Avatar 1:48am coelacanth∅:

i used to think all of the "homeless" folk in new paltz were people who chose to not settle, chose to not work, often from warmer climates who came to np in the summer then back south for the winter; but i currently know at least 5 people squatting in vacant houses and many other who have been couchsurfing for a long time.
working people; career people...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am mariano:

What is the name of that Keygen Church album, lol?
  1:50am mick:

remember when Lennon said the Beatles were popular than satan...
Avatar 1:50am admiral crisp:

wow all this new paltz talk as I'm literally filling out forms to apply to SUNY NP as an adult learner
  1:51am JakeGould:

Hey Keilihd, I live in Bay Ridge as well. The thing I have learned is there are neighborhood homeless people, but I have also learned that Bay Ridge is actually well known by the homeless elsewhere as a good place to go to since there are Catholic charities, lots of space and generally a more positive attitude towards homeless here than elsewhere.
Avatar 1:51am Keilidh:

@admiral - good luck with your application! A good choice
Avatar 1:52am coelacanth∅:

it's back up to 5 mexican places! that's if you count taco shack, which is barely food, and mexicali blue, which is overpriced miles from authentic fanciness.
never been to the one on main st. but there's a great one around the block.
Avatar 1:52am coelacanth∅:

Keilidh did you go to school in np?
Avatar 1:52am Keilidh:

@jake - that's nice!! Glad to hear, I don't like when neighborhoods have a bad attitude about it. When some transplants started moving in to Park Slope they were very stupidly mad about all the vets hanging out around the neighborhood who have literally been there for like decades now
Avatar 1:53am Keilidh:

@coel - no my family moved to the city by the time I was 4. But I've been back there so often that it's still a little like home to me <3 some of my family lives there
  1:54am JakeGould:

The gap area between the north side of Sunset Park and the south side of Bay Ridge is extremely like NYC in the 1980s. I’ve been explored a lot of that area where the BQE and Belt Parkway divided things and it is so weird space wise you can easily see why homeless people come here.
  1:55am JakeGould:

I used to live in Park Slope in the 1990s and watched the neighborhood slowly gentrify. I’m still stunned 5th Avenue is safe now.
  1:58am JakeGould:

I’ve seen a seagull steal hot dogs on the Coney Island boardwalk as a kid. Grew up near there so it was cheap entertainment.
  1:58am BH:

I habitually refer to cats as "buddy", despite knowing their names (usually).
  1:59am JakeGould:

Are here at the Fifth Hamilton. 5th and 96th...come on by for a free espresso and bagel...
  2:03am BH:

I'm seeing a lot of VCRs on eBay
  2:04am devlawn:

VCRs have a lot of moving parts, so you can't get a "new" one cheap.
Avatar 2:04am coelacanth∅:
