I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey Bryce and everyone! This is the new blender that I asked for for Christmas that I never got.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The Bryce Dictionary defines a trumba as a brass instrument combining a trumpet mouthpiece connected to a tuba. Neat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Hello Bryce and everybody! Is this Portuguese or Brazilian? I'm trying to guess the origin based on the written language.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm sphere:

We all need Bryce Dictionaries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm brainiac:

I like a good sing along in the morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Ike:

I got a food processor for Xmas. What kind of marbles should I put in it? (Also, there's no apostrophe in "2020s", you hippies!)
  12:17pm Mike tp:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm sphere:

would capybara cake do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Krys O.:

Of course, brainiac!
Avatar 12:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

pairs well with a capyberry smoothie.

....rodentially delicious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Krys O.:

Hopefully the beverage has its name because it is made BY capybaras instead of with....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Carmichael:

Heya Bryce and Friday funsters.
  12:31pm karen eliot:

Avatar 12:32pm Hubig Pie:

I have some crack pie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm brainiac:

My new year's resolution is to get off the pipe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm sphere:

Momofuku changed the name of the crack pie to the "Milk Bar pie."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Krys O.:

I had a corn muffin, but now it's gone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm brainiac:

Oops, pie. I meant pie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm sphere:

have you heard from the muffin-napper yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Krys O.:

I inhaled the muffin without the aid of a pipe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm sphere:

Easy way to foil a muffin-napper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm brainiac:

Gotta take the foil off first, man. Otherwise it's murder on the fillings.
Avatar 12:47pm Jeff Moore:

@sphere: Crack Pie was a pretty good name. But if they got a yen to change it for some dumb reason, they couldn't just call it a chess pie (which it basically is)?
  1:00pm Mike tp:

thanks BRYCE......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Bryce:

like "thanks, obama?" :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm sphere:

@ Jeff Moore - i honestly don't know. they definitely wanted to move away from the word "crack" but i guess they wanted to still associate it with Momofuku Milk Bar (where it is from).
  1:06pm egould310:

Sounds like an Electro Who-Cardio Floox
Avatar 1:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

the capybara salad was delicious, if a bit gamey.
  1:11pm mic_mute:

Hellooo.... We could stay in this groove all show and I would be happy.
  1:17pm JakeGould:

@JeffMoore: Crack sounds “edgy.” But it’s safe enough to sell at inflated prices.
  1:17pm Mike tp:

thanks for the fine music today..BRYCE......
  1:21pm JakeGould:

I miss Drake’s cakes when they were wrapped in aluminum foil.
Avatar 1:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

this here.
this thing right the hell here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm sphere:

darn tootin, RTD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm mariano:

Interesting - I've been watching the Ken Burns documentary on country music, and in the episodes dealing with historical antecedents, they showed Appalachian musicians who did similar vocal rhythms to this Inuit song.
  1:52pm JW:

The Inuit throat singing is really interesting if you don’t know much about it. It gets really intense in a live setting. There’s a little video about it here: https://youtu.be/DLMlkjnYe0U
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Bryce:

ahh, great video. thanks!!
  1:54pm JakeGould:

Hey! You stepping on Dan Bodah’s glottis!
  1:58pm mike tp:

king rootin tootin....
  1:58pm mic_mute:

Much of this edition has been flirting with Vocal Fry, beginning with the Sardinians, and that's alright with me.
  2:00pm miketp:

ah dee mah
  2:05pm egould310:

Heeeeyyyyyyuyooooooo!!!!!!!!
  2:07pm egould310:

A child cries in the distance.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Krys O.:

Someone just came by my desk and said, "What is that clicking?" I said, "Music" and they skittered away quickly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Bryce:

hahaaaaaaaa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Passaic River Blues:

@Krys O.: hahaha Love the image of someone quite actually skittering away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Krys O.:

I should have said that it was the Doomsday clock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Krys O.:

It was less graceful than slinking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Bryce! Waving, not drowning (except in the welcoming depth of this music).
  2:24pm mic_mute:

Killing us with beauty, again.
  2:25pm John from Florham park:

@krys o love it not.too many of the unwashed masses get this statio and we like it that way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Bryce:

gaylord! hello, my friend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Gaylord Fields:

I'm happy to be here, friend Bryce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Fox:

One of the greatest musical influences of my life was my music teacher in elementary school. She was so clearly a hippy. I remember distinctly that she told us, at some point between first and fourth grade, that "music is organized sound".

I challenged this, and asked her about whatever crazy examples of sounds that could be planned I could think of, and every time she agreed that such would be music. It blew my mind.

One early step towards grooming me for WFMU's weirdness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Passaic River Blues:

Supernal gorgeousness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Fox I would've loved that teacher. All we ever got was Top 40 Classical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Ike:

Uh oh, the filthy hippies are embedded in our schools and are grooming our children to listen to marbles in a blender! Dangerous! Scary! What a travesty (that there aren't more of 'em).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Krys O.:

@Fox Sounds like a great teacher!
  2:40pm (o)v(o):

Really interesting show! THANKS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Bryce:

thanks! so glad you're here!!
  2:46pm egould310:

Long strange journey of sounds. I think the Inuit stuff was my favorite. Thanks, Bryce!

Good way to pass a lazy vacation Friday morning.
  2:46pm BH:

the phrase "Top 40 classical" just made me think of Casey Kasem doing all-classical AT40
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Handy Haversack:

Good show, Bryce -- thanks! Was working and couldn't really chat before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Bryce:

thanks so much, handy h! thanks everyone, actually! always so nice to spend a friday with youuuuuuuuns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Bryce. Marbles + Blender = Fun!
  2:56pm mic_mute:

Thanks again, Bryce. A super sweet episode.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm sphere:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Krys O.:
