I'm not usually listening at this hour...

Avatar 9:08pm Dave Mandl:

Echo! Great hearing you on air, Dave! And... thank you.
  9:26pm BH:

Hrvatski finding inspiration from survey questions to name their songs
Avatar 9:26pm Dave Mandl:

@Summer et al.: Thanks!
Avatar 9:26pm javakid:

This certainly has some µ-Ziq qualities
  9:28pm val:

charli xcx often uses beats like this too! glitchy, stutter-y type stuff (especially with one of her more recent records, "pop 2")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Doug in JC:

@javakid like a µ-Ziq / Schlammpeitziger crossover
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm PMD:

Are you ever coming back for a regular show?
  9:40pm Listener Robert:

I clicky-starred "It's Been A" by The Constipated Beatles.
Avatar 9:40pm Dave Mandl:

@PMD: Probably. The question is when. Haven't had time to do a weekly show. Possibly this summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm coelacanth∅:

hey Dave! it's about time we heard from you again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Dave!
  9:47pm val:

makes me wonder what part 1 sounded like
Avatar 9:51pm javakid:

took a quick peek at Creative Nihilism on Discogs and a name in the credits jumped out - Brad Laner. The album came out in 1984 and his best known gig being the the leader of Medicine started many years after. Interesting seeing that connection.
Avatar 9:52pm Dave Mandl:

@val: Part 1 is not as good. It's just the guitar chord without Lennon's voice.
Avatar 9:52pm Dave Mandl:

@coelacanth∅: Thanks! Great to be here.
Avatar 9:53pm TDK60:

but oh, what a chord.
Avatar 9:53pm Dave Mandl:

@WH Henry: Hey!
  9:53pm keith:

Dave- very good to hear you again; if not on this show, perhaps on the next, could we hear anything from "This Was"?
Avatar 9:53pm Dave Mandl:

@javakid: Yup.
Avatar 9:55pm Dave Mandl:

@TDK60: Agreed!
  9:55pm JakeGould:

Hey Dave! Suzanne Ciani’s sudden revival is a great story. She was pretty much waaay past the Buchla days until Finders Keepers did that rerelease. Then a sudden flood of attention. Very positive tale of tech and reissues creating a new group of fans.
Avatar 9:57pm Dave Mandl:

@Keith: I'd love to play something from This Was, it goes without saying. Not sure if I'll be able to get to it tonight.
Avatar 9:57pm Dave Mandl:

@JakeGould: Yup, that's great.
  10:02pm Will:

Glad to hear you on here again, Dave. Was recently playing your 3/29 sub show with all that great if galling early prog and Britfolk, you will be forever remembered for that first set.
Avatar 10:04pm Dave Mandl:

@Will: Aw, thanks.
  10:09pm CC:

glad to finally catch your show live Dave..!.. I swear I guess you must have been on WFMU for like 30 years or so by now... you got some of the first real audio streams I ever saved!!!!
Avatar 10:11pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Gracias. Yeah, it's been a little more than 30 years, but don't tell anyone.
  10:19pm CC:

I loved all those obscure, profound Tull songs you used to play from time to time!!!...especially during the holidays!!...
Avatar 10:22pm TDK60:

I've heard the name Eyeless in Gaza for years and never delved. Will go check the Artist Browser soon..
Avatar 10:23pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Yeah, obscure, profound Tull songs. That's me!
  10:32pm CC:

Dug that B. Pig tune, btw!!!
  10:33pm val:

good music to listen to while writing
Avatar 10:34pm Dave Mandl:

@val: That's great, thanks.
Avatar 10:34pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Blodwyn Pig?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Dave. Thanks for spinning tonight.
  10:38pm CC:

Yeah...I thought you played that a while ago????...maybe it was Bob and Gina???
  10:42pm CC:

I love it when Harry and John used to get drunk and sing together!!!
  10:44pm kano:

New Wave Theater...
  10:45pm val:

SUN RA!!!!!
  10:47pm CC:

I hate to say it but I think that Van Dyke Parks tainted Brian Wilsons personal creativity..!..jmho...
Avatar 10:47pm Dave Mandl:

@kano: Yes, thanks!
Avatar 10:47pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Oh, that was probably me who played Blodwyn Pig, but it would have been a while ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm joeray:

Evening, Dave! I didn't know you were on tonight. So happy to hear you on the air again. I've missed the World of Echo.
Avatar 10:51pm Dave Mandl:

@joeray: Thanks!
Avatar 10:52pm Dave Mandl:

BTW, all, if you're interested, I'm filling in for Daniel Blumin on 1/10 (a week from Friday).
  10:52pm CC:

Dave... I've often thought that you play music off the cuff is that so???
Avatar 10:53pm TDK60:

..watch out, Dave. Those Blumin listeners get wild and wacky, Fridays.
Avatar 10:54pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Yeah, no planning ahead of time, all on the fly. That's how I roll.
Avatar 10:55pm Dave Mandl:

@TDK60: True. That's a very tough crowd.
  10:55pm val:

completely unrelated (like really) but there is no greater feeling than getting your friend to listen to an artist you really like and thats that on that
  10:55pm Listener Robert:

Am I the only one who hears this as a jazzy version of Ravel's Bolero?
  10:55pm CC:

I had a brother-in-law... God rest his soul...who played flute just as good as he played saxophone..!..
Avatar 10:56pm Dave Mandl:

@val: That's the good thing about being a radio DJ. Getting a bunch of people to listen to your favorite songs.
  10:57pm CC:

Too groovy baby!!!
Avatar 11:03pm TDK60:

I need to hit the sack. Thanks Dave til next time.
Avatar 11:04pm Dave Mandl:

@TDK60: Night!
  11:08pm CC:

Dave...I was always curious if you had a favorite version of New York City Serenade by Bruce!!!... I know I feel like a junior high school girl asking you this question...
Avatar 11:10pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Nope.
  11:13pm CC:

I know... most of them are great you don't have to say it!!!...(:
  11:17pm CC:

I love to know how old DJs are... do you mind telling us???
Avatar 11:22pm Dave Mandl:

@CC: Yes, I do.
  11:23pm CC:

damn good picking!!!
  11:24pm CC:

oh well.. I think you've always had a very young voice!!!
  11:29pm JakeGould:

@CC: You have any New Year’s resolutions?
  11:29pm CC:

I'm only going to be 66 on Groundhog's Day and I'm feeling fine!!!
  11:30pm CC:

Jake...yeah... I'm going to keep smoking these great cigarettes I roll out of pipe tobacco!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm coelacanth∅:

heh, i was away from the comment board or i would've warned you the age question was coming!
  11:34pm JakeGould:

Why new year’s resolution is to repot some of my succulents and add another coat of oil to my wooden table.
Avatar 11:35pm Dave Mandl:

@coelacanth∅: Is that so?
  11:35pm BriJet:

Hey Dave!!
Avatar 11:36pm Dave Mandl:

@BriJet: Hey!
  11:39pm JakeGould:

@Dave: I’m not on the comment boards as much as I have been in the past, but CC has crossed a few personal boundaries from my small observations.
  11:40pm CC:

Like Lee Michaels said... nothing matters if it doesn't matter!!!
Avatar 11:40pm Dave Mandl:

@JakeGould: Yeah, clearly.
  11:42pm CC:

Luv ya Dave!!!
  11:43pm JakeGould:

@CC: What do you think of Baby Yoda?
  11:47pm val:
