The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas that sense the relative position of the thereminist's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker. The theremin was the product of Soviet government-sponsored research into proximity sensors. The instrument was invented by a young Russian physicist named Lev Sergeyevich Termen (known in the West as Léon Theremin) in October 1920 after the outbreak of the Russian Civil War. After a lengthy tour of Europe, during which time he demonstrated his invention to packed houses, Theremin moved to the United States, where he patented his invention in 1928. Subsequently, Theremin granted commercial production rights to RCA. / Eyck uses a fixed arm position per octave, and uses fixed positions of the fingers to create the notes within the octave, allowing very fast transitions between adjacent notes.  *   2:25:10 (Pop‑up)

Two weeks later, singer Kerr and guitarist Burchill started Simple Minds, taking their name from a line in Bowie’s "The Jean Genie." The duo was then augmented by keyboardist Mick MacNeil, bassist Derek Forbes and drummer Brian McGee. Forbes left before the recording of this album and was replaced by John Giblin & singer Robin Clark was added to the lineup, as well    2:51:41 (Pop‑up)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58am CarolCrow:

Hello, fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Pablexa™:

Not enough convo going on - Fave pizza toppings....ANNNNDDD GO!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Pablexa™:

First person to say pineapple or corn gets booted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02am David (in London):

Pablexa - For me, anchovies need to be involved really. Other things, too, but that's a pre-requisite.
  7:02am Dave Conehead:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am Pablexa™:

@David I woulda thought you would say corn - That's a thing there - Right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am fred:

Sadly, I haven't had pizza in over a decade
  7:05am Dave Conehead:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am Pablexa™:

@fred What the what??????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am David (in London):

Pablexa - Corn as in sweetcorn? I love it, but for me tiny items have no rightful place on the large space of a pizza. They just result in droppage and irritation. Nothing smaller than an olive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am David (in London):

Fred - have you sought professional help for this condition?
  7:08am slawooy:

GM Woofmoon ppl! Love this show so much I get up to listen to it and get lost in its layers
  7:09am Earth Walker:

Baba Ram Dass would have loved it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am Pablexa™:

@David (in London) - Just what I know from there - Folks in UK put that on there - Back in like 85 I used to try to get "good" pizza delivered while I watched American football on Channel 4, but it was sub-par (To be honest both the footie and the pizza)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am ParUbi:

I have to get more into that Masayoshi Fujita-- what's another good place to start?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am CarolCrow:

Yo, Dave Conehead!
Avatar 7:14am Ignatatus666:

Late Book out
Been here listening
Headed home
Daylight burns my brain
Check in from there
Last weeks programme I listened to 3x 2x Sunday night !! Yes it was deep...
Avatar 7:16am Sem:

The space between two thoughts. Oh, my, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am David (in London):

Pablexa - Yeah, decent pizza was probably only available in a handful of (proper Italian) places back in '85. Fortunately that's changed now. But anchovies still need to be involved. And man, sadly Channel 4 ain't what it used to be, that's for sure.
  7:17am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Carol, Moon-niks and Sonatatinskis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am Pablexa™:

@David just watched the Arrow awards (2nd time) - Ads are soo good over there

Good morning, Aaron! <3
Avatar 7:27am Sem:

Working for a radio station, a jump school offered some of the on-air staff a chance to jump out of an airplane after just 2 hours of ground school. Demonstrating, I guess, that parachuting was incredibly safe, and we would talk about the experience on-air.
Some of us took up the offer, and I found myself hanging onto a wing spar, one foot on the planes' right tire, the other out in the slipstream. We'd been told that once we let go of the spar, to count to three.and if the static line had not automatically deplaoyed the 'chute, we were to take action by getting to the secondary chute we wore on our chests.
When the jumpmaster gave me the nod and I let go of the spar, there was no counting to three. There was no thought whatever. I could have been falling for a millisecond or a millenium, couldn't tell.
The space between two thoughts. Oh, my, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am CarolCrow:

@Sem@7:27: WOW. Sounds like it was a profound experience.
  7:33am artingu:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am fred:

@Pablexa and David: (sorry for the late reply, I was ironing) no pizza, no restaurant either. Too expensive. I can go to a noise show for the price of a pizza. Priorities
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am CarolCrow:

adrian - interesting. i'd like to see kelly jayne's cinder block sonata.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47am CarolCrow:

Fred - That's a sound approach, and I salute you for it.

Is Coldspring harbor in Coldspring?
  8:10am Listener Robert:

Huh. The only thing I think about in Cold Spring Harbor is the Laboratories.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am dale:

don't think cold spring ny up the hudson from you iggy.
  8:13am Listener Robert:

And no, Cold Spring Harbor is on Long Island on the Sound, and that's so confusing since it's in the same state of New York but not near.
Avatar 8:15am Ignatatus666:

I didn’t think so
Yet many times when I type Coldspring it adds harbor. And Carol just described a spot in Coldspring in the woods and near a church.
Coldspring actually borders our town along with Garrison and Kent
It’s a cool little town loaded with speed traps for the rich Manhattanites not to be confused with Carolytes which are actually sonata crystals from the moons sub surface
  8:16am Listener Robert:

Further confusing matters is Coldplay's album called Spring.
  8:16am adrian elaine:

Patricia Kopatchinskaja used to perform with the St Paul Chamber Orchestra - I saw her once - she’s pretty amazing and usually plays barefoot

We have big turtles in the pond on my street here in Green Twp. NJ, and another called Turtle Pond on the other side of the tunnel. They're so cute when they cross Whitehall Rd. in the spring.
