Tomorrow is the shortest and darkest day of the year.

God do I hate this time of year. At least I have Baby Yoda and rereading J.G. Ballard to cheer me up.

In classic film noir smoking is so sophisticated. Not like in the modern world: Just Bic lighters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm ultradamno:

Is baby even the appropriate word for that thing? It looks like an amphibious hatchling of some sort.
Avatar 9:14pm JakeGould:

Baby Yoda is great. I feel genuine joy and wonder in seeing that thing on par with how I felt discovering the original “Star Wars” as a kid in the 1970s.

Was that the movie with the space gorilla?

Avatar 10:30pm JakeGould:

The brilliant theory of the whale explosion was they would blow it up and then seagulls would go nuts and love eating the chunks… But no seagulls came around and a huge chunk of the blown up whale destroyed a car parked nearby. Whole roof caved in.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm chresti:

I imagine the seagulls didn't like the exploding much.
Avatar 10:35pm JakeGould:

This is a memory a 14 year old kid had of the event: “So I’m all excited, and I went over to my dad: ‘They’re going to blow it up, 20 cases of dynamite,’ and my father proceeded to say, ‘I think you misheard them. I think he said 20 sticks," Umenhofer recalled Thursday. “And I said, ‘No he said 20 cases.’” The title of the article that quote came from: “Man recalls how family's new car was crushed by blubber in 1970”

It's a guitar with a harp on the top. Tuning is fluid to style. More common than you'd think. 'Focus' player Jan Akkerman played one too.
Avatar 11:52pm TDK60:

..it does look like a modernized version of an Irish harp guitar. Progarchives says they also played: "percuphone and ethereal cosmophone".

Gibson (US) even made acoustic versions of those 100 years ago. Clumsy to play but cool looking. Have a good Holiday all!
