Did the Dwayne Train have a stop at Sesame Street?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am The Oscar:

Man, this brings me back. As a kid in the '80s, they still had a lot of '70s Sesame Street in rotation, and because the rest of pop culture had already moved on this was pretty much *only* the sound of Sesame Street to me.

Yes! I loved this Osibisa song. They were huge in my childhood listening.
Avatar 9:52am pantz:

Joe, I know it's the Muppets and not Sesame Street, but do you have "You Don't Want My Love"?
Avatar 9:53am Brian in UK:

Woyaya was the name of an album by Osibisa. One of the earliest 'world' bands though they were not catagorised by that moniker at the time.
Avatar 9:53am Joe McG:

@pantz: Not handy, but maybe I'll play it next week.
  9:54am DonS:

The Emegency Alert system instructions won;t be forthcoming in the event of a real emergency, because everyone would just erupt into a living Heironymous Bosch painting.
Avatar 10:33am mariano:

As some comedian pointed out back in the day, where was the Emergency Broadcast System on 9/11? I was in NYC that day, I sure as hell don't remember the EBS doing anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am steveo:

afaik there was no emergency alert on 9/11; also my motorola flip phone was useless
Avatar 10:34am slugluv1313:

hiya, mariano!
yes! i LOVED The Flip Wilson Show when i was a kid -- Geraldine was hysterical! and of course, "The Church of What's Happening Now" :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am VincentNifigance:

@mariano: Fair point! I suppose when it began it wasn't perceived as an emergency and when it became clear it was, everyone was watching TV, fleeing, or flipped the fuck out.
  10:35am queems:

@vincent i will!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am Phillippe Bastille:

Nice TC
  10:35am Listener Alexandra:

Good morning, Joe! And I just used this Thievery song on a yoga playlist :)
Avatar 10:36am slugluv1313:

right??? same here, was on my way into Manhattan, had no idea WTF was going on until i got home
Avatar 10:37am Joe McG:

@Alex: Nice song to get centered to. :)
  10:37am Mike Wolf:

@mariano When the first plane hit, the news etc were still treating it as an accident. When the second plane hit and it became instantly clear it wasn’t an accident, the actual emergency of it became everyone’s awareness in the city. Anyone watching TV or listening to radio was hearing nothing but Twin Towers, an emergency alert would’ve just interrupted whatever reporting was going on moment to moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am steveo:

jo,e what shop was it with the kool n gang photo?
  10:38am Listener Alexandra:

TC are yoga playlist gold--they just get overused a bit :(

@Todd: Maybe so! Or at least the music of the '90s. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am tim from champaign (now washington):
