Avatar 3:20pm yondernod:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Sounds a gooda to me. Ats a nice a song.
Avatar 3:24pm thormagma:

@Phillip - I was talking with my partner recently about how most of the live mic breaks on wfmu give me a surprising sense of calm. I think it's funny and relaxing when he mentions that he's going to stop blabbing and play music. I never mind the blabbing.
  3:28pm P:

@Phillip - I also enjoy hearing Fabio's movie reviews and movie listings.
Avatar 3:30pm yondernod:

top shelf bedmusic to boot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@P - me too! I love the music Fabio plays and I looked forward to Fabio's movie round ups. I find out about so many great movies from that.

“This sounds like a kind of cool jazz music that you’d hear at the fair” - my five-year-old
  3:40pm William Main:

Dear Fabio: Who would you include in a list of the greatest failures in all history? Here are some of my initial candidates:

Alexander Krensky: Head of Provisional Russian Government before Bolsheviks took over.

Jefferson Davis: President of the Confederacy.

John Paul I: Pope for less than a year before he died.

Herbert Hoover.

Egon Krenz: Leader of East Germany for less than a year before fall of Berlin Wall.

Vidkun Quisling: Norwegian figure-head leader of Nazi puppet state. Executed after the war.

Peter Best: First drummer for the Beatles replaced by Ringo.

Perhaps you can suggest some more up to date candidates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm brainiac:

"Monica's Fall" is now a drop in on all my future playlists
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm brainiac:

Including Christmas
Avatar 3:48pm Megadano:

very John Carpenter - like...
Avatar 3:48pm Fredericks:

"Quisling" is now derogatory adjective. Fitting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm tim from champaign (now washington):

An album titled Muscle Up followed by Man Machine. Very appropriate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Bas NL:

Kraftwerk was and remains so unique.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm chresti:

I think self-releasing records enables many bands to keep at it for years and years, thank goodness.

Avatar 4:10pm coelacanth∅:

yeti bob but what's the next line?
(i always heard it as "eldorado"...but how does that make sense?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm brainiac:

That's right, per A-Z Lyrics. Then "Take this brother, may it serve you well"
www.azlyrics.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm ParUbi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Bas NL:

The set of ever growing title lengths.
Avatar 4:18pm geezerette:

Gliding in on Riley. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Which reminds me... I need to get my tickets to see Terry Riley in Seattle before it sells out.
Avatar 4:24pm coelacanth∅:

ha i didn't expect a-zlyrics to have revolution 9!
'doesn't make it fact, of course. i've found obvious blunders on one of those lyrics sites then to find all of them had the same blunder. they just copy each-other and probably don't know the songs most of the time.
...but -what i've always wondered is the relation between the dance names and "eldorado". but i know it's silly for me to think about that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Bas NL:

All stars are bright to me, this set.
Avatar 4:27pm jt:

Looking forward to hearing /seeing Terry Riley & son in Redhook soon..
Avatar 4:29pm YETI BOB:

coelacanth∅: lots of strange juxtapositions in there. not sure they are all deliberate - it seems like a result of the "cut-up" technique, to me... your basic Dada poetics... IMO
  4:30pm jond:

First time tuning in and really enjoying it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm brainiac:

Yeah, many's the time when things don't add up with no explanation available I've muttered "eldorado":P
Avatar 4:30pm YETI BOB:

coelacanth∅: it also might just be about the sound of the words
Avatar 4:30pm YETI BOB:

Excelsior!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm tim from champaign (now washington):

That seen is so great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm The Oscar:

Oh man, I've heard about that doc! I've seen a clip from it which is 100% clearly the inspiration for the OD scene in Pulp Fiction.
Avatar 4:33pm coelacanth∅:

Yeti yeah (@4.30) a concept Eno ran with in a big way. (and i think you may be right)
brainiac haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm brainiac:

The 7-up series is fantastic. Must-see movies.
Avatar 4:36pm mariano:

The Apartment is great! And Fred MacMurray was more of a villain type (eg Double Indemnity) before My Three Sons.
  4:36pm slamamander:

I love Dionne Warwick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm The Oscar:

Parasite is so damn good-- really exciting to see a movie like that catch fire the way it has.
Avatar 4:38pm mariano:

"Yeah, many's the time when things don't add up with no explanation available I've muttered "eldorado":P" The watusi. The twist.
Avatar 4:39pm mariano:

"ha i didn't expect a-zlyrics to have revolution 9!" @coela: try looking up Beefheart lyrics on Genius. Draws a complete blank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm tim from champaign (now washington):

BAGPIPES!
  4:41pm Gnomon:

Hey Fabio what was the bed music for the movie announcements?
  4:42pm Gnomon:

Oh this is nicely stompy
Avatar 4:44pm TDK60:

Hello through and throughers.
  4:48pm Gnomon:

This reminds me of Colin Stetson (which Fabio you should check out if you don’t know his stuff)
Avatar 4:49pm geezerette:

Avatar 5:09pm geezerette:

Chresti, did it traumatize you?
Avatar 5:09pm geezerette:

(heh heh!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm chresti:

No, I was transfixed forever after! Hi Geeze!
Avatar 5:23pm geezerette:

Howdy Chresti! Addams did the same for me. Made me wonder wassup with adults? :)
Avatar 5:25pm TDK60:

I'm a musician but I can't say I'm "accomplished." I'm just ok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Like Joe McGasko said about the Altomonty show: pool cues, knives and guns are not provided but you can bring your own.
Avatar 5:28pm northguineahills:

Someone adopt a Hell's Angel for the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm chresti:

Is there an easy way to separate squash seeds from their mother?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm common:

Fabio all
Avatar 5:37pm coelacanth∅:

chresti -spoon?
Avatar 5:37pm northguineahills:

Us there an easy easy way to separate the spines from prickly pear cacti? It's a pain in the ass and I always end up w/ a few of the hair-width ones in my hand.
Avatar 5:37pm YETI BOB:

chresti: spoon them out. then boil the seeds + pulp in salty water. that helps to separate the slimy pulp
Avatar 5:39pm coelacanth∅:

ngh ouch. i've never eaten a prickly pear is it worth it?
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

stuck in meeting that lasted nearly the entirety of the show.

bad. very bad.
Avatar 5:41pm YETI BOB:

northguineahills: carrot peeler + neoprene gloves?
Avatar 5:41pm Megadano:

this is sublime.
Avatar 5:42pm YETI BOB:

the green part of the prickly pear cactus is known as 'nopales' and it's very tasty. you can sometimes get it ready-peeled in mexican markets. the fruit is called 'tuna' (no joke!)
Avatar 5:45pm coelacanth∅:

i always roast my squash seeds in the oven.
i spoon them out and put them into the cast iron skillet. separate them the best i can without spending more than a few minutes on it to make something somewhat close to an even layer.
then i roast them. watch them carefully. maybe stir/flip them around partway through.
there are bits of squash pulp on them. sometimes those are the tastiest ones.
Avatar 5:46pm TDK60:

Maybe save a few squash seeds for future growing too..
Avatar 5:49pm coelacanth∅:

absolutely, TDK!
Avatar 5:49pm northguineahills:

mi encanta tunas, yum! Sometimes you can find the pads pre-despined, but I often only find the jarred kind, and occasionally the untouchrd ones in the markets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm chresti:

coel- spoon, fork, water, colander,..the little fuckers don't want to let go! I thought there might be a trick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm chresti:

Thanks Yeti Bob!
Avatar 5:50pm coelacanth∅:

you can't get them out of the squash?
Avatar 5:51pm coelacanth∅:

i've never encountered that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm chresti:

I got them out, having trouble separating the squash stringy stuff from them, it's especially tricky because they're small.
  5:53pm choggie:

Poor Delia. She needed more vitamin D, some cheeseburgers, and a good orthodontist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm mrdonutsu:

Damn, this "Sea" track is #1 With A Bullett" on the weirdo music shows - here at FMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm common:

Creepy goodness. I must tell my mother
Avatar 5:55pm YETI BOB:

chresti: boiling in salty water will help flavor them too (if you like salty)
Avatar 5:55pm coelacanth∅:

oh okay chresti. i don't know because i always roast them and the stringy stuff is okay, if not very tasty.
i'd try what Yeti said then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm chresti:

I spread the seeds out on a pizza pan, with a little salt and oil, and leave them in the oven to dry out
Avatar 5:57pm TDK60:

..thanks Fabio for running the studio controls, playing records.
  5:57pm brainiac:

I'm going to make a pinback button with "weirdo music" emblazoned upon it. Wavy-groovy font. Who wants one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm chresti:

I knew I'd get help here, commenters are grand!
Avatar 5:58pm coelacanth∅:

Splendid as always Fabio! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm chresti:

Thanks Fabio! And thanks for the Eternals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Bas NL:

Thanks Fabio!
Avatar 5:59pm coelacanth∅:

brainiac i'd like one! but maybe that's stupid because i have a lunchbag full of buttons and i haven't donned a button in several decades.
