Listen to this show:  Pop‑up player! | Add or read comments

Haruna Walusimbi is one of Uganda's most celebrated traditional musicians and music educators, but that's not all: He founded performing arts troupe Nile Beat, launched Uganda's biggest annual cultural festival, and won a Grammy for his leading role in Bela Fleck's film Throw Down Your Heart.

Walusimbi and fellow musician / scholar Mark Stone join the band Kakande for shows at the Shrine in Harlem Saturday night and a house concert in Brooklyn Sunday afternoon.
