It's almost time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Otis Fodder:

Hi ParUbi (and anyone sauntering slowly in). Hope your Sunday is a relaxing one.
Avatar 2:02pm Mr Fab:

frend-lee per-sway-shun! (as I drive spell-check crazy) Hi Otis, ParUbi, and all the ships at sea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Otis Fodder:

Relaxing music to steer your vessal well Monsieur Fab. Unless of course your next stop is Purgatory as the music seems to suggest.
Avatar 2:09pm Mr Fab:

Sounds quite heavenly to me. But of course my idea of 'heaven' is perhaps not everyone's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm ParUbi:

Havenly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi everyone!
Avatar 2:17pm Mr Fab:

It's Jan the Man! We're here diggin' the sweet sound of primitive electronics. Was the future wonderful?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

I'd rather have the future from the past than the future from the present.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Jan!
Avatar 2:38pm Mr Fab:

i remember Basic Hip. He rotated albums every week. if you missed it, it was gone. 'twas back in the days before free file sharing sites, so you had to pay to host mp3s yourself, which could get expensive. So much great stuff i discovered on Basic Hip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Otis Fodder:

Me too, basic hip was fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm ParUbi:

Today's term that I keep forgetting: "free improvisation"-- looked it up 4 times today. Writing it down to remember it.
Avatar 2:42pm Mr Fab:

Someone stop that girl on the cover of "Mallet Mischief" from hanging herself! She has so much to live for!
Avatar 2:44pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

Loved that Mel Henke tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Jan Turkenburg:

Isn't www.kiddierecords.com from Basic Hip as well?
Avatar 2:46pm Mr Fab:

Yes, I believe so, Jan.

That whole Mel Henke album is nuts. The CD reissue had a slew of great bonus tracks, as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Otis Fodder:

It is, yes!
Avatar 2:53pm Mr Fab:

Ah ha, "Exotic Adventure" was, in fact, one of the bonus tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Otis Fodder:

It was, one of the best couple of tracks off the Adventures album, which is good, but way outta the same ring as Dolce Henke!
Avatar 2:54pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

I will go down a Henke hole later after the show.
Avatar 2:55pm Mr Fab:

Hmm, pretty sure we just heard a version of the "I'm in love with a girl named Maria" song, not "Goldfinger." Not trying to tell you how to do your job!
Avatar 3:01pm Mr Fab:

ha ha, i was just gonna say: sounds like a job for The Bran Flakes.
Avatar 3:08pm fred:

Shatner gets way more airplay than Nimoy here though, for some reason
Also, hello
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Fred and PCT!
Avatar 3:16pm Mr Fab:

Hey fred, well, Spacebrother Greg left my garage sale couple weeks ago with two Nimoy albums. So he might play them on his show here "Stop Hitting Yourself." Less talk, more Spock! (and I think I have come up with yet another motto for this channel)
Avatar 3:16pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

In Canada Shatner is a god. We even put him on a postage stamp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

Pulling out Nimoy's Maiden Wine, that he wrote. From his wonderful 4th album. Nimoy is Neat!
Avatar 3:27pm Mr Fab:

he just pronounced his name "Marty Page." So there ya go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I just caught that too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Rich in Washington:

I am all for tooling the ratio towards Nimoy. I just recently found a copy of his The Way I Feel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Rich, great 3rd album. All 5 Nimoy's have gems 4 sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Jan Turkenburg:

Plea-ease Lord! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Jan Turkenburg:

You can't petition the Lord with prayer!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Otis Fodder:

Lord... LORD!?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Jan Turkenburg:

Mr Tambourin man, MISTER TAMBOURINE MAN!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, she did evolve!
Avatar 3:48pm Martinibomb:

Hello Otis and fellow listeners!
Avatar 3:49pm Martinibomb:

Just got back from getting my dogs pictures with Santa
  3:55pm linda lee:

the wonder of it all.. supremely wonderful. I'm listening hard but can't chat . play on, Otis! Save my psychic bacon yet again. Xx
Avatar 3:55pm fred:

@Mr Fab: Greg's show is out of my listening hours, but I love his premium CD (sorry for the late reply, I blame laundry duty)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Otis Fodder:

Hi MB and LL!
  4:04pm App ParUbi:

This stuff is GREAT!
Avatar 4:05pm geezerette:

Yep. Weird! :)
Avatar 4:07pm geezerette:

And what Linda Lee said. :D
Avatar 4:09pm fred:

Hey geezerette, nice to "see" you here. I've been too busy to check in much these days (dance shows, mostly)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm chresti:

Hi Otis and friendly persuaders!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Stanley:

I'm also listening and thinking even in the wonderful wierd world of WFMU, this show is right up there. I like. And as it's Sunday evening over here it's just the thing to keep my mind off the dreadful thought of going to work tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Otis Fodder:

You and me both Stanley... Manic Monday starting at 8am tomorrow. Let us treasure this time left.
  4:22pm App ParUbi:

3.25?!
Avatar 4:22pm fred:

@Stanley: did you have to bring that up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm chresti:

Home from work, I put my new wfmu bumper sticker on my car
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Otis Fodder:

Stuck my new one on the fridge
  4:23pm App ParUbi:

Hey, lay off Pittsburgh lady!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Stanley:

Sorry fred, and you an hour even nearer than me.
Cheers Otis and lovely listeners.
(Lifts glass in salute of this great show)
Avatar 4:28pm fred:

@Stanley: no harm, I took tomorrow off, just to try to get a medical appointment. I'll lift a glass too momentarily, just need to fill it (Bunnahabhain)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Stanley:

Ahh, Great choice, form the Isle of Islay.
I also occasionally enjoy the peated 'water of life'.
4:33pm Dave in St Albans UK:

Friendly Persuasion is the balm that I need at the end of every weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Stanley:

Join the club Dave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, just wrapping another weekly chapter in the book of Sheena's before we reboot tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Otis Fodder:

That's a new radio show byline, "Flavor enhancer".
Avatar 4:39pm fred:

@Stanley: I'm more of a Laphroaig guy usually, but this Bunnahabhain has more peat than usual, so delightful to me
  4:40pm linda lee:

I'm always hearing great names for my fantasy radio show on air. One day, as gosh is my witness..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Otis Fodder:

So many future show titles, dancing above my noggin'
  4:41pm linda lee:

Asheville is a city, not a colony, ladies!
  4:43pm linda lee:

I hear lots of great show names in library music titles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Stanley:

@fred: I sometimes come accross an Islay that isn't peated but because it seems like the malt cannot escape the smoke, it invariably has a feint peat smoke flavour to it.
Needless to say it's always amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Otis Fodder:

I agree. BBQ is good food!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Otis Fodder:

I need to just play food conversations every week. Making me hungry for dinner soon.
  4:49pm App ParUbi:

Ostrich ravioli !!!
Avatar 4:49pm fred:

@Stanley: I love peated ones, but I also remember a Ben Nevis that came close to salted caramel and that was wonderful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Otis Fodder:

First time hearing that and now.. wanting that!
  4:52pm linda lee:

You must be really hungry, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Otis Fodder:

I am. Making a trout tonight in the oven, spicy... add some paprika, lemons, s&p, etc... leftovers for tomorrow lunch too w/ salad.
  4:54pm linda lee:

Beautiful. Leave the ostriches alone!
  4:57pm linda lee:

They're too fabulous.
  4:58pm App ParUbi:

Such a conversationalist this lady
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Otis Fodder:

They really really are.
  5:00pm linda lee:

Exempt! :-)
  5:02pm App ParUbi:

OCD! Know it well :)
  5:04pm linda lee:

wild eyes, wild hair? some of the best people look that way.
Avatar 5:07pm Martinibomb:

@otis I am making Salmon tonight poached/lemon /spices
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm ParUbi:

I never had it that bad, but I did go through a phase of making sure the ice cube trays were emptied symmetrically
  5:08pm linda lee:

Now this I love. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Otis Fodder:

I have a lot of little bits like that, like the particular way dishes fall into the rack after hand-washing... there's a place for the colander.
  5:11pm linda lee:

"Strange passing''. Another radio show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm ParUbi:

ostrich ravioli is a good name for something that isn't actually ostrich ravioli
  5:16pm linda lee:

Yes, a weight loss program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm ParUbi:

what are these voices from beyond with messages for us, bearing tidings of ....?
  5:20pm linda lee:

Love this.
Sure wish I had my reel to reel tapes from 68 - 69. Loved my reel to reel recorder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm ParUbi:

there's this guy who makes music with broken ones, what's his name? just a sec
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm ParUbi:

this guy: www.instagram.com...
  5:22pm linda lee:

Broken reel to reel tapes? don't know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm ParUbi:

Wouter van Veldhoven
Avatar 5:29pm Martinibomb:

I was just thinking of setting my reel to reel up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Otis Fodder:

Oh, do it, wish I still had my reel-to-reels. Purged both and reels when I moved from Seattle in 2005.
  5:34pm linda lee:

My mom & dad purged mine. :-)
Avatar 5:37pm Martinibomb:

yeh I don't have many reels but I can do that loop/re-record trick with this one plus keep thinking recording to tape for saturation fx might be cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Otis Fodder:

Very cool!
Avatar 5:38pm Martinibomb:

it weights lik 150lbs tho! No joke
  5:39pm linda lee:

I sent a friend cassette letters for 7 or 8 years in the 90s, from Asheville! Miss Busy won't look for them, though. I'll have to break in & ransack the closets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm ParUbi:

nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Otis Fodder:

Dance on over to that closet and tear it up!
  5:41pm linda lee:

There's nothing like real tape. That tactile thing.
  5:42pm linda lee:

I might be disowned! I'll plead.
Avatar 5:43pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

Now here's a song I could really boogie to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Otis Fodder:

Get down Cat-tails!
  5:47pm linda lee:

Love the québécois funk!
Avatar 5:48pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

My neighbours were blasting a Petula Clarke record that created an interested mash up with The Friendly Persuasion (thin walls).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, love Petula Clark too, that's a good mash-up!
Avatar 5:51pm Martinibomb:

Okay! That jeff Lynne track was pretty interesting. Thanks again for the music this week Have a good week and cya back here again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Otis Fodder:

See-ya MB!!
  5:52pm linda lee:

This sounds familiar for sure. Who wasn't clubbing in the 80s? ,:-)
  5:54pm linda lee:

Thanks for a beautiful show, Otis!
Avatar 5:55pm Pussywillows_Cat-tails:

Extra great show today.
  5:56pm linda lee:

Talk about clubbing flashbacks! Let's go!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Otis Fodder:
