Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm mariano:

I don't think that any of those cold-preventative things like Zicam or Emergen-C really work, when it comes down to it.
3:18pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

would you believe? im 52 and i still need photo id to buy Robitussen! seriously?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm WillCrete:

Thanks for leading with the Gundecha Bothers this afternoon Fabio. Sri Ramakanth Gundecha was truly an artist for eternity. So thankful that I had the experience of hearing him sing in concert.
Avatar 3:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@WillCrete: serious cheerful jealousy on that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm mariano:

Here in New Orleans you get carded for buying any tobacco/nicotine products or booze, regardless of age. They have to scan your license or ID at the register. Far cry from when I was a teenager, buying cigarettes and bourbon willy-nilly!
  3:20pm John from Florham park:

@phillip make do make beth from that so yes I can see why
  3:21pm John from Florham park:

I mean meth sorry
3:21pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

my feet feel like they are on fire! but the thermometer says no fever:( WTH:(

hey ParUbi just saw your greetings a few minutes ago (on Scott's show) because i got caught up with something else (work) right after checking in; so...
hello!
3:25pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

they took down the "riteaid" sign and put up a "walgreens" sign. wonderfull i hope my rx's are safe?
Avatar 3:25pm dale:

hello fabs. is this charlie callas on the dinah shore show?
3:26pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

@FABIO always makes me feel better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it's Maria Callas backwards...
This is truly good medicine.
Avatar 3:28pm βrian:

Walgreen's got their start with prohibition booze by prescription. Their last big bonanza was prescribed opiates. They're consistent, anyway.
3:28pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

AHHH:) hot coffee. extra strong. i sure missed that yesterday
Avatar 3:28pm coelacanth∅))):

yeah Phillip i just moved all my scripts to a locally owned pharmacy because our rite aid turned into a walgreens.
i only didn't use the local one before because i paid for stuff out of pocket but now i have insurance so there's no reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Sean d:

What's up! And how is it you don't need ID for rxs just need to know your birthday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm chresti:

zinc + elderberry shortens the duration and severity of a cold, not make it go away
3:30pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

this riteaid became a walgreens in just one day! all new people too. now im worried about my medication refills:(
Avatar 3:30pm coelacanth∅))):

true chresti; and vitamin c and echinacea helps.
  3:30pm ty:

you were the first to present last to me...thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm WillCrete:

@Rev. Turnip Druid - For real- They performed with both such sustained rigor and an endlessly exploratory sensibility - I last heard them play at a Hindu temple in suburban Chicago which arranged for them to perform a few years back. They always made such great effort to ensure the perfect tuning of their tamburas on stage, obtaining maximum clarity and resonance. A crystalline foundation.
3:33pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

ugh:( im sick and now i have to worry about my diabetes and HBP med refills. unreal:(
3:36pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

anyone feel like the should be doing hasheesh to this music
Avatar 3:36pm coelacanth∅))):

oh they were talking about the switch here for over a year. then the annoying outgoing message for the pharmacy was changed to one 3X more annoying, but fairly comic! i recorded it. then it changed last week to totally disfunctional. i don't know why i didn't stop doing business with rite aid long ago anyway; but it suddenly became necessary when it became walgreens.
3:38pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

im tired:( from yesterday. maybe this 20 ounce mug of coffee will keep me awake.
Avatar 3:39pm coelacanth∅))):

isn't there a supermarket pharmacy (if not a locally-owned one) you could use? i'd sooner give my business to a shoprite than walgreens. (i guess depending on the shoprite, as they're privately owned too...they could be assholes...)
3:41pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

plenty of small mom & pop pharmacys in my area. guess ill have to choose one of them
3:42pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

my area? the next riteaid is E 207th street. way way too far for me to walk
  3:44pm anonymous fc:

Sounds great!
Avatar 3:46pm βrian:

I bet it was the ghee. That stuff will kill you.
Avatar 3:46pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Just back, missed the earlier part of the mic-break.
Was afraid of that being the reason for the multiple Gundecha Bros. tracks.
dang.
Avatar 3:53pm βrian:

... and according to the news report I saw, it was a cardiac event.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm stefica:

@listenerPhillip you might do better with a small pharmacy. My friend (with a lot of health issues) here in Brooklyn had one and the pharmacist was able to flag prescriptions that wouldn't work together or to advise him how to take them so they did their job. Sadly, that guy decided to retire and overnight his shop closed and all prescriptions transferred to the local Rite Aid.
  3:58pm Tony:

Why is Walgreens worse than Rite-Aid? Aren't they both just big evil corporations?
Avatar 3:59pm TDK60:

Hello Fabio and strong ones.
Avatar 4:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I recall at one point the common nickname for Rite-Aid was Contra Aid, which I suppose means BOTH: they were evil, and I'm a very old person.

I don't think ICE is listening to this show, nor anyone who would call ICE. Though, there have been rumors that Fabio's playlist has been infiltrated by the CIA

New Swans?
Avatar 4:47pm coelacanth∅))):

Tony (@3.58) i thought it might sound like i'm saying walgreens is much worse, but you're right they're both big corporations. of course.
it's just my experience (& that of others i know) that walgreens is much more impersonal in general; and my immediate experience when the local one changed over is that refilling a script involves more bullshit on the phone..more information required; and no shortcuts -and it can't be done except during the hours the pharmacy is open; whereas rite aid's system let me call it in at any time and they'd get it and fill it first thing in the morning. obviously walgreen's can do that too, but they choose not to.
(also their outgoing recorded message is so patronizing, with the faux-caring voice, it's offensive! -though that wouldn't be a reason to dis them)
Avatar 4:48pm coelacanth∅))):

(heh -not wanting to dwell on it! i was away from the computer and just saw the post from before)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm mariano:

Speaking of salmon in butterfly, I'd heartily recommend the Salvador Dali cookbook, which was published a few years back after being out of print for a while. Really fun to look through.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm mariano:

So embarrassing, but I met Michael Gira once, didn't know it was him. Was at a rooftop 4th of July party, and we struck up a conversation. When he said he was a musician, I was like "Yeah? Me too - we should totally get together for a jam sometime!" Then he mentioned he was in Swans, and I felt donkey ears growing out of my head.
  4:54pm Ochre:

@Mariano--yeah, I want to check that out. I was just throwing a wrench into the works by alluding to the movie, Papillon, about a jailbreak--crinimals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm VincentNifigance:

@LiX: YES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@mariano - you're going about telling that story the wrong way. What you should say is "I met Michael Gira once and invited myself to join the Swans" ;)
  4:57pm Tony:

@Coelacanth: OK so you are not saying Walgreens are more evil, but just more of a pain to deal with? I used Walgreens pharmacy at one point and found their customer service pretty bad. So I switched to Target, who seemed much better. But then the Target pharmacy became CVS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm mariano:

@Ochre: Ooh, I haven't seen Papillon in years, was one of my favorites when I was a kid, thanks for the reminder!
@time: Haha! Yeah, forget what I said earlier: I offered to improve Swans with my metal-esque guitar noodling, and Michael Gira snubbed me because he was jealous of my talent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm mariano:

*@tim, I meant, sorry.
Avatar 5:04pm coelacanth∅))):

Tony basically yes. they *seem* worse! they're probably both terrible pigs but i'm not aware enough about either one's business practices to say one's more abominable as an entity than the other

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm mariano:

Avatar 5:37pm Fredericks:

This Skullflower is creepy, heavy and beautiful. Very nice choice, Fabio.

Not Papillon, papillote. It's a parchment envelope if that matters. A lovely way to prepare salmon.
