A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I think she wrote the lyric. " The girl with the golden eyes) Adieu, RIP Grande Dame. Search youtube for lots of interviews and songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am melinda:

@queems no, doesn't really grab me either. If I like doing a craft it wouldn't matter hpw many other people are doing it, but I figure if I wanted a special scarf or hat there's got to be someone who would do a commissioned project rather than me learning how to make it. I used to think I could DIY everything and it's been a relief to scale back my expectations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am melinda:

@Brian haha

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Blues Mandinga:

Ea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am sphere:

@queems - what is the difference between knitting and crocheting?
Avatar 10:00am ben abs:

@vince, hahahaha - infact I was unclear, I love to knit is what I meant. I am a content lad, got a flute for the bday :)
  10:00am Thelma Blitz:

Knitting is two needles, crocheting is one needle. I am professional since 1967, Piaf was a knitter too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am queems:

@sphere knitting uses 2 needles, and crochet uses 1 hook. the way you manipulate the fiber into stitches is different. i'm not very familiar with knitting, so someone else can jump in to explain how it works, but crochet is made up of several different main stitches that are put together to make textures and patterns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Itzall ClearD'me Nåu:

ben abs, is that a metaphor?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am steveo:

good morning, been quietly enjoying these first 2 sets; love this abbey lincoln

thanks queems :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am queems:

@sphere no problem! in my opinion, knitting is a lot more versatile
  10:03am Thelma Blitz:

I find I can do more with crochet , it's easier, less monotonous and quicker.
Avatar 10:04am βrian:

And if you're really into knotting fibers, there's Quipu:
en.wikipedia.org...
  10:04am VincentNifigance:

@BenAbs I hope to see you adopt a policy of punctuating winning any and all future debates/arguments by swishing aforementioned style scarf over your shoulder, and whipping out a flute and playing it triumphantly as you sashay away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am queems:

>>The oldest knitted artifacts are socks from Egypt, dating from the 11th century CE.[2] They are a very fine gauge, done with complex colorwork and some have a short row heel, which necessitates the purl stitch. Agreed! That "St Topez Blues" got it so right. That dance between guitar and voice was a delight.
  11:50am Thelma Blitz:

Marie's greatest hit is Viens, Viens, adapted from a German song Rain, Rain. To sppreciate her properly find this on YouTube. UMG jiust blocked the English translation, unfortunately, but it is a girl pleading with her father not to leave her mother for another woman. Quite dramatic.
