Hello Mary! On Halloween I sat on our stoop and played your Season of the Witch 3OAK out the window. It was fun! Lou Rawls got the most head nods :)
Avatar 12:06pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Sem, Rich, Phillippe, and steveo! The extra 10% is for extra glitches, heh.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Webhamster Henry:

I have Glassworks on cassette. I don't think there are any bonus tracks on it though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Some DJs play the hits Mary Wing plays the percentages.
Avatar 12:22pm Mary Wing:

Well, you can only fit so much Glass on a tape, heh.
Avatar 12:23pm Mary Wing:

Hi Ken! Oooh, I like that concept, now I need to start collecting songs with percentages in them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm doctorjazz:

Avatar 12:28pm Mary Wing:

Hey there doctorjazz! Still have any Halloween candy left?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, cool! For a 15% cut, I'll go with that!

Avatar 12:37pm Mary Wing:

Autotune alert for this next song, not sure who's allergic to it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Carmichael:

Mary not only plays the percentages, she plays the odds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's probably buied in the fine print of the Kenzo® Terms and Conditions that any ideas presented in the comments board are exclusive property of the show's DJ. Offer not valid in Alaska or Puerto Rico.
Avatar 12:40pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

On the contrary; all participants in a given chat are required to adopt all ideas expressed therein.

Ok, I'm back. Auto-tune and Felder bring on convulsions, sadly.
Avatar 12:58pm coelacanth∅))):

oh, i missed some autotune. good, i'm allergic to it. hives and headaches usually; i've always averted my attention before the convulsions come.

I will now express my opinion that absentee voters receive an "I voted" sticker in the mail after their ballot is received.
Avatar 1:02pm coelacanth∅))):

if you vote 5 times do you get an i voted hat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

You get five stickers with different Simpsons characters. Collect 'em all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Carmichael:

I built an autotune swamping circuit in my listening devices. At nearly $11k, it was well worth it.
Avatar 1:05pm coelacanth∅))):

whoa, okay that's better than a hat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Of course, the Homer sticker says "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!"
Avatar 1:07pm coelacanth∅))):

Carmichael can i get one of those? i'll trade you all my Streisand albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm steveo:

i moved and dmv said they would change my voting address but they lied and so i got to do an affidavit ballot, so exciting

Are we getting any Apocalyptic Flying Vegetables in this set?

this air-accordion playing is really building my upper body

Apocalyptic Flying Vegetables, Henry?

Avatar 1:22pm Franco Twinkie:

Hey ho!
Avatar 1:24pm Mary Wing:

Morning, Franco! West coast in the house!
Avatar 1:26pm βrian:

Goodness, my squash curry was delightful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I tuned in just in time to hear the Boston Typewriter Orchestra! Phew! This was based on a discussion a few weeks ago, right?
Avatar 1:29pm βrian:

My typing teacher told me to watch my Ps and Qs. (Weak pinky fingers.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I think I was in the last cohort of students to learn typing on a typewriter. All it left me with is the unfortunate habit of typing two spaces after every period.
Avatar 1:33pm coelacanth∅))):

was that typewriter music discussion on 100% whatever?
Avatar 1:33pm Mary Wing:

Hi ParUbi! Me too, and now Microsoft Word automatically adds a period if you type 2 spaces, I hate it!
Avatar 1:34pm Mary Wing:

No, I don't think it was, actually. Must've been another show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm brainiac:

As a former proofreader, double spaces trouble me greatly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

The typewriter thing was on the Bodega Pop accu, October 23.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Also, two spaces after a semi-colon.
Avatar 1:35pm βrian:

They made sense, visually, with manual typography. Not any more.
Avatar 1:35pm coelacanth∅))):

this was a very good one, the boston typewriter orchestra.
Avatar 1:36pm βrian:

Kishore Kumar is a naan-starter for me.
Avatar 1:36pm Franco Twinkie:

West coast still in their pajamas, but working in our mad scientist lab cooking up some nonsense!
Avatar 1:36pm Mary Wing:

But why, brianiac? (Hi, by the way.) I like the spaces between sentences, it gives a paragraph some breathing room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm chresti:

I remember that discussion, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm brainiac:

Hi Mary. I'm afraid the rigid rules of proper typesetting supersede everything in my world
Avatar 1:40pm βrian:

If you're writing verse, your editor shouldn't auto-anything.
Avatar 1:40pm Mary Wing:

Is typesetting still a thing?
Avatar 1:40pm coelacanth∅))):

part of (and only part of) the reason i will not "text" people, generally, is the rules my phone imposes on me, which add a pain-in-the-ass-ness to the process, to have to override them constantly, or deal with if they cannot be overridden.
Avatar 1:41pm βrian:

Clippy: "It looks like you're writing a sonnet!"
Avatar 1:42pm Mary Wing:

heh, Brian.
Avatar 1:45pm Franco Twinkie:

I use to work for this director who was a real cut-up, and he loved to listen to a typewriter music record during lunch. Half the crew found it amusing and the other half was driven out of their minds. He liked accordion records too. Big surprise.
Avatar 1:45pm βrian:

I remember memorizing the rules for hyphenation at line breaks. That was just evil.

It also wreaks holy hell with OCR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Brian same with dialogue. Lord knows I've written enough scripts for industrials that came back from a client or editor with punctuation and grammar "fixed". No thank you. People do not talk like that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm brainiac:

Death to hyphens and their infernal oppression
Avatar 1:50pm βrian:

I'm unable to send a text without proper punctuation. And if it's in French, every accent aigu must be in place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm brainiac:

It's everything I can do to leave off a period so as not to appear snarky
Avatar 1:52pm βrian:

Hyphens can be useful, but hyphenated surnames are like fleas in the gene pool.
Avatar 1:53pm βrian:

I mean, don't just think of the children, think of the children's children!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm brainiac:

Hyphens are so last century
Avatar 1:54pm Mary Wing:

NO! I like hyphens, m-dashes, and n-dashes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I don't know where I'd be without em dashes
Avatar 1:54pm βrian:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm brainiac:

Avatar 2:02pm Mary Wing:

Avatar 2:02pm Franco Twinkie:

Brianiac, I just enlarged your avatar - brilliant! Braniac (aka- The Baron Of Terror) is my idea of the perfect movie - with a few exceptions, of course.
Avatar 2:03pm βrian:

But isn't "trait d'union" an endearing term?

It's like "You and me babe, lets get hyphenated."
Avatar 2:03pm Mary Wing:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

ohhh, the dashes brought this on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I saw them for the Object 47 tour-- they came to Pittsburgh!
Avatar 2:04pm βrian:

Good one, Mary. Even the format is hyphenated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm brainiac:

Thanks Franco. I couldn't resist. I love bad movies.
Avatar 2:10pm Franco Twinkie:

Brainiac isn't just a bad movie, it has that je ne sais quoi that makes it a stand alone cinematic abomination
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm steveo:

oooooh kraftwerk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

El Baron del Terror?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm brainiac:

@ParUbi: So cute!
Avatar 2:22pm Franco Twinkie:

For us folks in the Los Angeles area, Braniac made a belated entry into the television trash derby. In the early seventies in went into semi-regular rotation on channel 13, one of our go- to channels for low grade black and white atmospheric thrills.
Avatar 2:23pm Mary Wing:

Cheers, Dave!
Avatar 2:25pm Mary Wing:

Aw, I don't get any video, it just shows a white box on the Instagram page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I remember watching Elvira's Macabre Theater on channel 9 in the LA area in the 80s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

Aww, that's a shame about the Instagram. Maybe try it on another browser?
Avatar 2:32pm Franco Twinkie:

Elvira carried on the tradition of hosting exalted rubbish. I worked on a TV commercial for Orange Crush with her. We build a the interior of a haunted house for the spot.
Avatar 2:33pm Mary Wing:

Yes, I can see it in Safari--Ah ha ha! Too cute! I want to hang with you guys and sing karaoke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Webhamster Henry:

The instagram video works on my laptop, FWIW. I like Karaoke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

I was young and impressionable (preteen). You thought you were building the interior of a set, but you were also building my UNCONSCIOUS MIND. Also, Kung Fu Theater
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm ParUbi of Pittsburgh:

@Mary-- it was a blast. It was the "prom" for a writing retreat my wife organizes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Brian C.:

This steel band version of Tour de France is great!
Avatar 2:39pm Mary Wing:

I know, right, Brian? This my new favorite band, they even did a Kraftwerk tribute for the cover!

Avatar 2:43pm Mary Wing:

Hi David! All the accordions are ready for squeezing?
Avatar 2:43pm Franco Twinkie:

ParUbi, just keep in mind that I too was once a 12 year old that was watching a dangerous amount of suspect television. When I wasn't listening to The Doors and Cream, that is. But as luck would have it, I was fortune to be able to get a job later creating some of the junk that so inspired me as a youngster.

Both squeezing and unsqueezing, if that's a thing.
