This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Avatar 7:12pm Flash Strap:

Hi NGH! Praying to my lord Satan for your good fortune
Avatar 7:13pm Flash Strap:

Hi LD! totally get that! my favorite feature of this album is the looping groove at the end, always makes me think of a broadcast fragment that never ends
Avatar 7:13pm Flash Strap:

Break a leg Hyde, you'll be fabulous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm melinda:

- & a Digital out of Analog...
Avatar 7:41pm Flash Strap:

What a weird album this is, so difficult to actually comprehend the poetry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm chresti:

The first Halloween here, Franco set up a record player or two in the front yard playing scary sound effects, etc. and the one or two tots that were coerced into entering, looked frozen with terror
Avatar 7:42pm Flash Strap:

haha how wonderful! I am, alas, too rural to have trick or treaters to frighten with sonics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm chresti:

He just plugged it in with an extension cord, it was a sitting on a stool, the record player, a Calfone or two
Avatar 7:48pm Flash Strap:

What a voice Martha Wentworth has, my god
Avatar 7:49pm Flash Strap:

on this vague nautical horror theme, The Lighthouse is really good, highly recommended

Avatar 8:25pm Flash Strap:

  8:26pm John from Florham park:

@TDK69 howdy did you listen to Fabio and Clay today?
  8:26pm John from Florham park:

very strange library LP, this one
Avatar 8:54pm TDK60:

I do see on a weather map that north NC and central-south VA have tornado warnings.
Avatar 8:54pm Flash Strap:

Musical Touch Sound had relatively few releases but mostly quite unique (though I haven't heard them all)
Avatar 8:54pm Flash Strap:

@TDK: i think my area's out of the woods
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm doctorjazz:

Very creepy, don't want to go outside...
Avatar 8:56pm Flash Strap:

houses can be haunted too, nowhere is safe. maybe a car, if the doors are locked
Avatar 8:59pm TDK60:

..this Chamber is very secure down here, now don't you worry..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm doctorjazz:

You ever watch Supernatural? The car usually goes crazy when there's spirit or other supernatural action afoot.
Avatar 9:05pm Flash Strap:

never seen it – but I guess not even the car is safe. best thing to do is jump right in the grave and tuck yourself in i guess. can't get ya there
Avatar 9:05pm Franco Twinkie:

Flash! Is there any candy left?
Avatar 9:06pm TDK60:

Franco, here's your candle..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm melinda:

FMU DJs really know how to do Halloween music. Great selections today and right now.
Avatar 9:07pm Flash Strap:

Hi Franco! help yourself, friend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Is there a ghost of a chance we could see some last-minute pledges?! At the bewitching hour, WFMU will stop asking for contributions for our October Hellraiser Fundraiser. Now is your chance to get in under the wire or to top off your existing pledge with a final ooomph of love.

Drop some lovely lucre in the tin cup and show some appreciation for the wonderful tapestries of sound our dear Flash Strap weaves for us every week in the Explorers Room.

HERE IS THE TIN CUP: pledge.wfmu.org...

THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!
Avatar 9:09pm Flash Strap:

What Doug Said! I promise to keep putting in absurd amounts of thought and effort every week if you kick in some buckx
Avatar 9:10pm Flash Strap:

And, thank you Melinda
Avatar 9:11pm Flash Strap:

Camille Sauvage is so incredible
Avatar 9:12pm Flash Strap:

Don't leave Doug's extended cup-hand hanging, friends! Trick or treat!
Avatar 9:17pm TDK60:

Funds will be sent via a hooded messenger on horse, through the dark, thorny, misty woods.
Avatar 9:20pm Flash Strap:

oo, that's a real "don't lose your head" situation
Avatar 9:21pm coelacanth∅:

i wonder if my new (1996) car is haunted. the passenger side, front and back, has a pond. when i accelerate i hear waves.
and the heat/ac does whatever it feels like doing at any given moment. neither heat nor ac can be turned off or on. sometimes the control panel is illuminated so i can at least see what it's doing, but usually not. the interior lights also seem to have their own agenda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Doug Schulkind:

Dark, thorny misty woods makes me think of that album by Universal Congress Of. It's called The Sad and Tragic Demise of Big Fine Hot Salty Black Wind .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm doctorjazz:

Ok, gotta go, thanks, Evan (for keeping me up all night...)
Avatar 9:23pm Flash Strap:

Many Many Thanks to our most recent, very VERY beloved donor
Avatar 9:24pm Flash Strap:

Good night Doc! Sleep tiiiiiight
Avatar 9:24pm coelacanth∅:

once again i must appologise for not giving more at this time of year. as always i extended myself much too far during the main fundraiser.
i'm always aware of how much time many of the radio hosts at wfmu sacrifice to offer Excellent programs to everyone.
Avatar 9:27pm Little Danny:

@Evan: ❤️❤️❤️
Avatar 9:27pm Flash Strap:

no apologies necessary C., we're lucky to have your ears and that's a fact
Avatar 9:28pm Flash Strap:

back at ya LD, your generosity & your excellence are inestimable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm WR:

on the end of that section of The Undead probably supposed to sound like a heart beat but my impulse was to suspect a vinyl flaw.
Avatar 9:31pm Little Danny:

Evan puts in full-time hours to get these shows together. Show our man some love, friends!
Avatar 9:31pm Flash Strap:

How happy I am to see donations coming in under the wire! thanks to Hams and Elizabeth for bringing me up to 61%!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Explorers Room is now only $195 from reaching its goal. Overall, WFMU is sitting at 83% of its goal. Keep the pledge-o-meter trickling toward nirvana!

The help you give in the form of a friendly donation will be repaid to you every single minute of your life in the form of WFMU and all its offerings. Together, we can keep it happening!

Avatar 9:42pm Flash Strap:

Avatar 9:44pm TDK60:

Some frightfully entertaining music tonight, Flash. I retire to my suite. I urge all you guests to lock your bedroom doors tonight. And if using the water cabinet, take a candle.
Avatar 9:44pm Little Danny:

Incredible show Evan
Avatar 9:50pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, I had a 1968 VW Squareback That leaked thru the vent below the windshield. During the winter of 77-78, which was very wet here, it grew mushrooms on the passenger side carpet. Coincidentally at the same time, my father and I had this old factory building that we rented for nothing. We had a cabinet shop in part of it ,and sublet the rest. Our office had a big hole in the roof, but it was secure so we kept all out hand tools in there. Well, it had a slab floor that tilted towards the street and would become filled with water. We grew giant mushrooms on the carpet in there. It smelled real bad.
Avatar 9:50pm Little Danny:

Follow your journey to the spirit world with me wontcha please?

Thanks All! Thanks LD, and thanks Chresti for double-dippin! See you all in the next haunted house over
Avatar 9:56pm Franco Twinkie:

I give Chresti money and she gives it to you guys. That's how it works around here.
Avatar 9:56pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i once lived with a woman who had (not by her choice) mushrooms growing from the window sill in the bathroom!
...i intend to not let it come to that. it's 4" deep and if it gets any higher it might short something out when i accelerate or brake.
i'll drill a drainhole in it and keep a cork there when it's dry.
Avatar 9:56pm Flash Strap:

Thanks Franco too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm chresti:

*gulp* Thanks flash!

Thank you Chresti, seriously, truly, deeply
Avatar 9:58pm coelacanth∅:

chresti no. and i never saw any sign of leakage or water inside until a few weeks ago when we had a torrential downpour. i vacuumed it up - filled the shopvac 5-6x!
now it's high tide again in my car.
