Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Carmichael:

Heya Pseu and ghouls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Pseu! I really liked this movie - I'm a complete sucker for musical pastiches!
Avatar 12:08pm The Donut King:

Ohhh, this is great. I only knew Costello's version, which always felt a little bit overwrought.
  12:08pm Websie:

Greetings all! I wonder if that Ileana Douglas movie this Burt-Costello song is from is readily "available"...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Hughie Considine:

Glad to be back in the realm of hooks. This is lovely.
Avatar 12:20pm The Donut King:

Love this McCartney! I've got a soft spot for a lot of the songs on this record (first Beatle-related thing I bought upon its release).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm steveo:

Hi Pseu. Did you know that Peter Frampton played guitar on the Grease theme song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Spinning Giant:

that babe rainbow cut was dee-lish...i'm going to press a bunch of singles of that and leave them in the candy bowl on the porch tonite ;))
  12:24pm Websie:

oh no, the Child Catcher!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm ParUbi:

Don't listen to him, children!
Avatar 12:25pm βrian:

Treacle tarts. Gets 'em every time.

This sounded much more terrifying than watching it in the movie

So I hear there's a baseball team called the Nationals. What happened to the Senators, anyway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Webhamster Henry:

Rats with a hook!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm ParUbi:

Rats make great pets, by the way. We have three: Sugar, Pepper, and Cocoa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm GingerbeardMan:

Jack Black singing this is perfection
Avatar 12:34pm βrian:

Camille would work here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Krys O.:

Good afternoon!
  12:34pm elwyn:

I am enjoying this song too much. if she sings about Pizza Rat, I will die from overjoy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Hughie Considine:

Amazing no one's remade "Willard" yet -- seems like it would be a natural.
  12:35pm Websie:

I know I've heard that "Rats" singer... Broadway?
  12:37pm Websie:

@ βrian, they moved to MINNESOTA shortly after DAMN YANKEES
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Spinning Giant:

...that exact viola riff is reminding me of...dang, I can't place it...think it's a Joseph Arthur cut...? going to the streamaverse to track it down - i'll be back!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Beast of Boonton:

@Hughie - Willard (2003) - A lonely, awkward misfit tormented by his boss on a daily basis turns to rats for friendship...and revenge.
Avatar 12:46pm βrian:

I don't recall ever having snow before on Halloween. We have at least 3 inches now on the isthmus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Spinning Giant:

...can't find it, dang...it'll come to me eventually...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Hughie Considine:

Whoa, thanks @Bob!! Who knew? (You apparently!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Spinning Giant:

...great show today, Pseu - cheers

I have a question :What is the wind speed velocity of an unladen swallow ?
Avatar 12:55pm βrian:

Apparently some fans did EXPOse.
  12:55pm Paddy in Matawan:

Baseball is fun to watch but the announcers make a big difference. Joe Buck was okay but nothing beats the Mets booth. Both radio amd TB are very entertaining.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Spinning Giant:

@Brian - HA! - aaaanndd --> it almost always snows up here in southern Ont on (or before) Samhain... Halloween's always my benchmark for getting the snow tires back on the car so I can laugh at all the clowns slipping into the ditch ;))
  12:56pm Websie:

NYC had a surprise Halloween snowstorm several years ago when FMU had a fall record fair, and frost-coated dealers are quite a sight.
Avatar 12:57pm βrian:

If it's not Ernie Harwell, I'm not listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Krys O.:

It's such a pleasure listening to you at home on a day off from work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm zopa:

Looking at the pictures of the band walrus leads me to believe that Matt Warwick is a member.
  12:59pm Ochre Ogre:

Hi Pseu, thanks for the heads up on the series 'Dark' a while back. So engrossing and well done, great music, visual intro and in one episode they played a Sol Seppy song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Krys O.:

@zopa: I see what you mean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm maestroso:

@Websie: I was at that record fair. Got to see Prince Rama, and I was stuck in the city overnight because trains and buses to NJ were shut down.

Supertramp... gee Mr. Wizard set the way back machine to stun!
  1:17pm Frank Enstein:

Dark- Mmm gut!!
Avatar 1:20pm The Donut King:

Pseu - what's your personal arc with the Supertramp? A) always liked B) liked, didn't like, like again C) didn't like, now like D) it's complicated.
  1:21pm Andres:

That Radiator Lady was some Mercury Rev precursor.
  1:21pm Ochre Ochre:

Radiator Lady! One my favorite weird movies, Eraserhead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm ParUbi:

I do think Eraserhead is a profoundly spiritual film.
Avatar 1:26pm Pseu Braun:

My arc, Donut King? Hated, hated hated the non-stop play of ST all thru H.S. Then, I saw a Roger Hodgson video with the loin cloth in the 80's and everything changed
  1:28pm Ochre Ochre:

@ParUbi- Interesting, would love to hear your explanation on that. I meant weird in a good way, like 'Repulsion' so weird but good.
Avatar 1:29pm The Donut King:

I hear you. And there was plenty of commercial stuff I liked at the time (and still like), too. But that BiA thing was just a bridge too far...
  1:29pm Websie:

this set is a big improvement on dream therapy
Avatar 1:29pm The Donut King:

And who doesn't love a loin cloth?
Avatar 1:30pm V Priceless:

Jersey City's own Marilyn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm ratso:

I, too, couldn't get to sleep last night.
  1:34pm Ochre Ochre:

Wonder if Iggy Pop wears a loin cloth around the house?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm ParUbi:

@O O -- I'm trying to make sense of what DL said about the film itself (he said something like "it's my most spiritual film," but he then refused to explain this). I think it's about human embodiment and a kind of ... internal alienation from our material existence. In this light, I line the fake chickens up with the horrifying, oozing baby. And there is the mythic role of the scarred foreman. Just a rough sketch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm ParUbi:

The lady in the radiator figures a kind of transcendence of those conditions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Hughie Considine:

This allah-las track has a real Monochrome Set flavor (flavour?), which is a rare commodity.
  1:41pm Ochre Ochre:

Pseu, Ha I called in last night on Seven Second Delay as Dracula and played that but some of it got drowned out by Andy talking over it. Trying to jam the phone line for Ken.
  1:45pm benji:

How about “wolf teeth” JD McPherson?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Krys O.:

My surname means I am also a witch. ;)
  1:54pm Ochre Ochre:

@ParUbi- Fascinating, thanks. Scarred foreman, the one at the lever, always baffled me?
Avatar 1:55pm βrian:

I loved the film, Gates of Heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Krys O.:

A propos of Supertramp, the album Gist of the Gemini by Gino Vannelli is surprisingly good and he has a song on there called Ugly Man. That is all.
  1:59pm Ochre Ochre:

YEAH Yoko, Starcrawler and the Dolls!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm ParUbi:

@O O-- I think the foreman is something like a gnostic demiurge-- a power that sets into motion our fall into material embodiment.
  2:06pm Ochre Ochre:

ParUbi- Have to see it again, it's been so many years.
  2:09pm Websie:

In News of Corpses, digging up Franco and Reagan in the same month must be a sign of something.
Avatar 2:10pm The Donut King:

That was stunning, the Kilgour...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm ParUbi:

@O O-- It's worth repeated viewings, right? Anyway, that's just one layer. There's also a huge layer of sexual guilt, and though I think it's connected, it seems to have its own logic.
Avatar 2:14pm Lixiviated Life:

  2:16pm Ochre Ochre:

ParUbi Yeah, I can concur on that sexual element. I've seen it many times mostly big screen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Joe D.:

lovin the new new pornos!!! especially because the last two really left me flat
Avatar 2:17pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Saw the New Pornos up at Levon Helm's barn a few weeks back. What a magic place and great performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm ratso:

@Joe, I can see what you mean with whiteout conditions, but brill bruisers was pretty solid.
@Rich, jealous. would've loved that show. heard it's a great venue.
Avatar 2:19pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

After the show, I revisited Whiteout Conditions, and found I didn't give it a fair chance. Been listening quite a bit to it lately.
Avatar 2:20pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

@ratso - I only learned of the show a few days before it happened. It was sold out, but they have an online waiting list. I got lucky within a few hours and had a ticket. Go there and see anyone you like. Beautiful grounds and a great space.
