Hello. Interesting conversation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm ultradamno:

I thought 'the ken burns problem' involved hair coloring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm steveo:

Good to hear y'all. Enjoying your chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm ultradamno:

I think they felt they covered Charley Pride at the Opry and DONE! Covered that!
Avatar 8:11pm TDK60:

I saw Martin, Bogan & Armstrong a few times, in the '70s. Great times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, loveless! So glad you’re here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm Gaylord Fields:

@TDK60: You’re a fortunate man.
Avatar 8:12pm Becky:

Hi all!! So glad you're here with us.
  8:12pm Karl:

Great show! FYI Louie Bluie is rentable on Amazon.
Avatar 8:12pm Becky:

Thanks, Karl. I'm such a Luddite sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm loveless:

Gaylord noticed me! Faints but gets revived by the music.
  8:13pm David Redbranch:

Louie Bluie is currently free on YouTube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Gaylord Fields:

@ultradamno: Ha! His barber is to blame!
Avatar 8:14pm JakeGould:

Louie Bluie talking about abstract public art: “Whole lot of money, big bunch of bullshit…” youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Gaylord Fields:

@BothKindsofMusic: So glad you’re here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm steveo:

Enjoying your chat, and wishing this country wasn't so messed up, especially regarding race.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Gaylord Fields:

Aw, loveless! You make me (almost) blush!
Avatar 8:15pm JakeGould:

Oh! And I accidentally clicked something and the whole film is on YouTube… youtu.be...
Avatar 8:15pm TDK60:

Gaylord: small fest in WV: John Henry Festival; also Odetta, John Jackson, Sparky Rucker, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm Gaylord Fields:

steveo: As much as country orthodoxy represents American orthodoxy, that’s gonna be the case.
  8:16pm cheri the duff:

@BECKY&@GAYLORD--MERRY HOLLOWS EVE!!!
  8:18pm P-90:

chuggeda-chuggeda-chuggeda-chuggeda-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: That’s what the man said, using his harmonica!
Avatar 8:23pm JakeGould:

“Bailey was fired by WSM in 1941 because of a licensing conflict between BMI and ASCAP, which prevented him from playing his best-known tunes on the radio. This effectively ended his performance career, and he spent the rest of his life shining shoes and renting out rooms in his home to make a living.” en.wikipedia.org...

Kinda reminds me of how Wilbert Harrison was screwed as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Folsom:

Great show as always!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm ultradamno:

And isn't it mentioned in the doc that Bailey was maligned as being to lazy to learn new material?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Tommy in Neversink:

Montana
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm Tommy in Neversink:

Pride is from Mississippi , moved to Montana ,worked and the Anaconda mine them back to Nashville
  8:30pm P-90:

“Candlelite Music proudly presents...”
  8:31pm P-90:

“...and it’s not available in stores!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: Bingo! Hahaha!
  8:34pm P-90:

“So order NOW!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: Only if I can order C.O.D.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Bootsie:

Much love for Charley Pride! One of the country artists my mom listened to back in the day, along with Eddy and Chet. And if you asked her, she really didn't like country. But how can you not like those three?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Gaylord Fields:

@Bootsie: People tend to have more problem with country as a marketing term than as actual music.
Avatar 8:38pm slugluv1313:

my Mom loved Charley Pride too! even though she was not really fond of most Country music
also thinking of Joe Thompson, Carolina Chocolate Drops -- although possibly not exactly Country?
  8:38pm P-90:

The announcer on those Candlelite Records commercials was Fred Foy, who had grown up as one of vaudeville’s “Seven Little Foys”. He was also the announcer/narrator of the Lone Ranger on radio and TV. An unmistakable voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Uncle Michael:

Hey hey!
Avatar 8:39pm slugluv1313:

yes! i remember Candlelight Records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm Gaylord Fields:

Hiya, Uncle Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm Tommy in Neversink:

Even though I'm from the south ,when I was a teen you couldn't like country cause the hippy thing was happening. Then the hippies started getting into blue grass and when the Willy and Waylon Outlaw thing started then it was OK like country
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm ultradamno:

Oughtta be killed? His ol' lady is harsh.
Avatar 8:41pm slugluv1313:

@ Boortsie -- hah! sounds like my Mom, she was somewhat of a classical music "snob"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Bootsie:

@gaylord yes, and some of the fans ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Bootsie:

@slugluv13 my mom, too!
Avatar 8:44pm JakeGould:

@TommyinNeversink: Hippies are kinda an orthodoxy unto themselves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm Tommy in Neversink:

But It's a flexible orthodoxy evidently
  8:45pm P-90:

I knew I’d learn something tonight: like there’s a “Female Charley Pride”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Uncle Michael:

I wanna participate in a Charlie Pride parade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Gaylord Fields:

@Tommu: Thanks for the Southerner’s perspective!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Gaylord Fields:

*Tommy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@UM - Those happen in Charley Pride Month, of course.
Avatar 8:49pm slugluv1313:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm Tommy in Neversink:

Porter and JB, NO WAY !! This is blowing my mind
Avatar 8:56pm TDK60:

I recall the Porter Wagoner live TV show. / Thanks!
  8:56pm BH:

I could check this, i'm assuming "Sex Machine" was not performed by James Brown at the Opry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, you two.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm listener 126464:

Thanks DJs!
  8:58pm P-90:

Should not go unmentioned: lots of Country influence and elements in Chuck Berry’s songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, everyone! I wish we had more time!
  8:58pm sufferwords:

thanks ‘‘twas righteous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Maybe a podcast series is in order?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Tommy in Neversink:

GREAT SHOW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm loveless:

Definitely needs a Part 2 to this discussion and platter spinning.
  8:59pm P-90:

Thanks Miz Becky and Gaylord!
“...and sorry, no CODs!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: Chuck’s “Downbound Train” is straight-up country, and if “Maybellene” isn’t a country song, I’ll eat my Stetson hat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm Gaylord Fields:

Damn! I want my Slim Whitman LP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm ultradamno:

Long before there was a "Get Into Reggae, Cowboy"
  10:56am Miss Georgia Peach:

I was really looking forward to this. Thanks for doing it and I hope you do more episodes in this vein.
