Please pledge, if at all possible, to our ongoing October pledge drive, the Hellraiser. And tell your other music-crazy friends, who may not be as hip as you and know about FMU!
  6:39am Dave Conehead:

Oh yeah.
The guitar tuning show is on today.
Peace out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39am Gavin in Bristol:

Morning Jeff, Morning all. I pledged again recently but forgot to specifically pledge to your show Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am Jeffrey Davison:

Dave Conehead, good morning, and good morning Gavin. A pledge is a pledge. Thank you.

good morning!

Good morning planet shrinkers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47am Gavin in Bristol:

Loving this Robbie Basho track. Reminds me that I put on Stefen Basho Jungens in Bristol once meny years ago. He stayed at my house then wouldn't leave so I had to spend all the next day showing him around Bristol. He was a nice guy but I only put him on as a favor to a friend so it was quite annoying. Ha hA.
  6:48am jeremyo:

Managing a live listen again, albeit arriving a little late. Got too much into my work - and I count myself very lucky to be able to say that! Beautiful sounds to accompany it anyway, as ever.
Gavin in Bristol, I'm sure there is more than one of that name in that fair city, but you didn't ever work in Richer Sounds did you?
  6:51am John from Florham park:

Morning fellow shrunken planet listeners
  6:51am Mark R.:

Interesting World Series in that the road teams have won all the games so far. On a totally different subject, Robbie Basho is very hypnotic and beautiful.
  6:51am jeremyo:

Jeffrey I'm not sure if I've heard any Elkhorn on your show. Received Sun Cycle/Elk Jam this week after listening to a wonderful live set on nyctaper.com, you must know it already but if not then I think it would hit the spot for you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53am Gavin in Bristol:

@jeremyo - no i did not i'm afraid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57am Jeffrey Davison:

good morning adrian elaine, duke, jeremyo, John from Florham park, Mark R...
jeremyo: yes, I've played Elkhorn...great stuff
  6:58am John from Florham park:

@Spamoni if your still around morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am Gavin in Bristol:

@jeremyo - that Elkhorn stuff sounds interesting - i'll give it a listen.
  7:01am jeremyo:

Gavin in Bristol - really not a surprise! Nor is the fact that Bristolians seem to be well represented amongst listeners to this show. Amused by you SBJ story, it has resonances with a tale of a hitch-hiker who I provided with a place to kip back when I was in Bristol myself. He made himself rather unpopular with my flatmates and I steered him towards the YHA the next day. Difference was he was a trumpeter who dressed in a yellow jumpsuit and red wellies. A memorable experience.
  7:02am jeremyo:

@Gavin_in_Bristol yes check it out, and listen to/DL the NYCTaper set too, it takes off
  7:04am Marc15:

I made my 50 dollar pledge this past Thursday
  7:07am Jeff Conklin:

What a joy to log on and see people talking about Elkhorn. Good morning, Jeff and folks...
  7:07am Cooh John:

Good morning Jeffrey and fellow planeteers. Sem, back after harvest. How was your garden this year?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am Gavin in Bristol:

@jeremyo - thats true! I heard Jeff mention a pledger from Knowle last week! I think its all the weird music that we are into and make that puts us in the top percentile. Great story of your trumpeter - does not surprise me a bit - the place is full of weirdo's. I've already got that NYC Taper set locked and loaded for afterward.
Avatar 7:11am TDK60:

Good morning New Jerseyans, New Yorkers, Bristolians (visited your fine city last year).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Jeffrey Davison:

good morning Marc15, Jeff Conklin (and this is starting to sound like an Avant Ghetto set!), Cooh John, TDK60
  7:14am Jeff Conklin:

Ha I was just about to say: Vetiver then Mapache. Nice. Wonder what New Riders song is next.
  7:15am Jeff Conklin:

Whatever happened to Basho-Jungens. Seems like he stopped making music last I checked?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am adrian elaine:

did i get a pumpkin?

  7:40am John from Florham park:

@Jeffery so glad I was not eating something then:)
  7:40am jeremyo:

@Gavin_in_Bristol the trumpeter story, with other gory details not fit for here, became a song that's a bit of a millstone coz it's what I'm expected to deliver every time I go to a session. But I'm thankful that anyone wants to hear any of my drivel! As for Bristol, yeah, I was only there '89-'94, which was a golden time itself, but that city is always throwing up innovative musicians of all varieties.
Avatar 7:43am TDK60:

Gavin, Jeremy-o: When in Bristol I visited the M-Shed free museum, to see an exhibit on Bristol music 1950s-thru-now. I stayed 3 hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am Armando:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am Gavin in Bristol:

@TDK60: Was that recently? I used to live near there. You shoulda looked me up ;) A friend of mine was involved in that show but i didnt see it. Did you see footage of the Bamboo Club? The first Afro-Carribean social club in Bristol and one of the 1st in the UK! Amazing history.
  7:52am John from Florham park:

@Jeffery that was a great song by the hope singers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am Nulsh:

@Nulsh hey there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Linda Lee:

hi Nulsh!! :-)
Avatar 7:56am TDK60:

Gavin yes, August 2018. Yes there was material on all the famous clubs. Lots on the black community: reggae, ska bands. Punk and prog rock too. And of course the later trip-hop, electronic. ETC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am Nulsh:

JohnfFP! Hey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58am ParUbi:

That's a good direction! Good morning!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59am Nulsh:

Jeffrey, can you still curate Shrunken Planet when you move to Canada?
  8:00am John from Florham park:

@TDK60 morning did you listen to SBB yesterday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00am Linda Lee:

feel a bit like a Tiitanic passenger watching a friend show off his new life preserver. :-D
hi TDK60!
  8:00am John from Florham park:

@Nulsh that was what I was thinking too
Avatar 8:01am TDK60:

Oh, and!...a Bristol tidbit from the dustbin of history. When the Beatles played Bristol in the early '60s some teen girls snuck up into the rafters and dropped packages of flour onto the stage -flour bombs!- just in order to create excitement. Hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am Linda Lee:

it sure is possible to do a show remotely!
Avatar 8:01am Jeff Conklin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am Linda Lee:

congratulations, Jeff! hang on tight! :-)
Avatar 8:02am annexia:

Welcome to tha North from Halifax Nova Scotia. You will enjoy living up here more than the greater NYC area (lived in Bay Ridge in the '80s).
Avatar 8:03am TDK60:

JohnfFP - SBB? forget the acronym right now...
  8:03am jeremyo:

@TDK60 damn, sorry to have missed that! I came to M-Shed this summer, first time in Bristol in many years, but too late for that exhibition. I could probably have provided some tasty stuff for it myself, but I doubt there was space for all the bands they could have included :) @Gavin, I was unaware of the Bamboo Club, to my shame. But it's that deeply diverse community in a city of just the right size that seems to me part of the alchemy of the place.
  8:05am John from Florham park:

@Jeffery there is a great station from Alberta called CKUA which plays great music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am Linda Lee:

i like the Burgen, myself. matches the cloudy mood up here in the mountains.
  8:06am John from Florham park:

@TDK69 shelia b show on Friday at 3

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am Linda Lee:

don't do that! :-D
  8:10am John from Florham park:

@Iggy was just wondering about you!!!!
Oh yesterday I asked clay if he ever had iggy pop
As an artist of the week, sorry for the mixup
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am ParUbi:

Lydia Brambila apparently released a zine with her last album. That's the way to do it!
Avatar 8:14am TDK60:

I would gladly rush Jeffrey out of the country, but I'd not be /behind/ him but /up front/ saying "Hurry!" Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am Gavin in Bristol:

I really hope your not moving to Canada anytime soon Jeff tho I don't blame you! I hope they'll let you broadcast from there if its soon. Not sure what i'll do without Shrunken Planet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am Linda Lee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am Jeffrey Davison:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am Linda Lee:

of course they will. your qualifications are stellar! :-)
  8:23am John from Florham park:

@Linda lee I hate to be paranoid but I get the feeling trump is not going to leet anyone leave this country and even worse find a way to keep is from listening to international broadcasting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am Linda Lee:

well, John, it's not up to him!
  8:23am melinda:

Morning Jeffrey and friends
  8:24am John from Florham park:

@Linda lee has that stopped trump yet, he will find a way
  8:24am Jeff Conklin:

@JD: I know the music director at CKUT quite well, when it’s time, I’ll introduce you.
Avatar 8:24am TDK60:

Ah, Jeffrey a temporary stay. Montreal; ya know French?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am Linda Lee:

he will not. i refuse to give him the power he thinks he has. we're giving that up too damn easily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Ignatatus666:

I knew it was a Iggy Pop reference. I still aside from my sarcasm was telling the truth.
I also knew you weren’t getting a reply during that Fabio fabulous show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Linda Lee:

anyway, you think his buddies in construction aren't benefiting from open borders? who do you think they're hiring?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Jeffrey Davison:

  8:26am John from Florham park:

@Jeffery there is a great show on CKUT on Sunday morning at 1030 which talks about radio
Avatar 8:27am paulincc:

Good morning Jeffrey and all. I’m not much of a comment boarder but I’m out here most every week, 6-9. I’ve also wondered about Annie and would like to see her back....

Can we chill with the political rhetoric
We all love FMU and we all love music
Not everyone loves/hates politics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32am Ignatatus666:

On Wake and bake
You asked if Iggy was ever considered for artist of the week. I think next Marathon he should just do away with that as they really get into the show and not the music. Just my observation
  8:33am John from Florham park:

@Iggy sorry for getting political I try not too on here because I can see what political food fights can do to a chat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am Linda Lee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am Linda Lee:

not that the fate of the US is 'politics' ~ it's life & death ~ but it's a good thing to keep what could become political, on the outskirts.

"Oh, the King is in the water, can you pull?
