I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Shriller than the average blender. Stronger than a box of marbles. It's ... Bryce Man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm ParUbi:

There's those blenders that guy uses to turn iPhones into powder...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm ParUbi:

This is good grading music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

For camping or tailgating, there are a variety of battery powered units available: www.blenderauthority.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Rev Turnip Druid Damn, that thing would double as a shredder! Old comuter back-up CD would be gone in an instant!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Chresti We have one of the stand mixers, its been great!
  12:44pm ParUbi:

I love NWW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm tim from champaign (now washington):

This is cool. So where should I start with Nurse With Wound? I read England's Hidden Reverse a few years ago and really dug it.
Avatar 12:47pm Hubig Pie:

moi aussi
  12:48pm ParUbi:

This is a good one. I like Spiral Insana for a starter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Phillippe Bastille:

@ParUbi Sounds like the perfect blender for Mark Hurst!
  12:49pm Rory:

Just in time for NWW! Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm steveo:

my favorite NWW is the Hobart Legacy HL600-1STD 60 Qt. Commercial Planetary Floor Mixer with Standard Accessories - 200/240V, 2 7/10 hp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm ParUbi:

Soliloquy for Lilith is another good starter.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm ParUbi:

I think he does have one where it sounds like he was grinding up some forks in a blender.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Daisy:

Holy shit all this bass. This show. yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm steveo:

Avatar 12:55pm Chris from DC:

th'Wound!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm ParUbi:

Homotopy to Marie is the one I'm thinking off. I vividly recall the first part sounds like someone hand-grinding a fork drawer. Not a good starter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Krys O.:

I'm happy with my Black & Decker blender.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Phillippe Bastille:

Did not know Black and Decker made blenders...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm ParUbi:

This goes to show the importance of good record stores and radio stations. I had a good freeform station when I was living in Michigan, and I was able to walk over to the store the next morning after my favorite show and pick up Zoviet France.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@ParUbi - what station in Michigan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Phillippe Bastille:

I'm really liking this Nurse With Wound. This would be perfect for my daily walk if only I was ready...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm ParUbi:

it was 90s era WCBN
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

I think Stashe Ken got his start on WCBN, and I think Amanda did as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm chresti:

Moi aussi- the nurse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm ParUbi:

Yeah, I heard Ramleh, Daniel Menche, and a bunch of other cool things on the later shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm ParUbi:

My friend got a graveyard shift show, and I came over and we mixed NWW with gospel, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@ParUbi - very cool! I had some friends who did shows at their house on Huron street. I'd visit Ann Arbor often in the 90s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm ParUbi:

I wonder if the station is still any good. Oh, the street names are coming back to me. I remember going to a branding party at someone's house somewhere near Huron.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm ParUbi:

Then I moved to Oregon and all the late night shows were Grateful Dead bootlegs. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm sphere:

Another good starting place for NWW is Spiral Insana. Both Soliloquy for Lilith and Homotopy for Marie are drones if I recall correctly, and Spiral is definitely not that. Honestly I have a hard time describing Spiral Insana. Feels kinda avant-classical I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Last time I was in Ann Arbor (maybe 2 years ago?) WCBN still sounded good. Crazy free jazz at 9 am!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Damn Oregon hippies!
  1:07pm karen eliot:

i advise against a vitamix for your marble experiments. a crushing disappointment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Thanks, sphere! I do like drones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm ParUbi:

Yes, I love Spiral Insana!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@chresti - I hope your avatar is not a photo of your back yard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

lotsa "Freeform" on the WCBN program schedule, though lord only knows what that term means there. app.wcbn.org...
Avatar 1:14pm Hubig Pie:

Freeform aint what it used to be
Avatar 1:19pm northguineahills:

moar raster-noton recs, por favor!
Avatar 1:19pm Chris from DC:

Yep, Soliloquy for Lilith is minimal and droney and kind of brilliant.
Avatar 1:25pm northguineahills:

This my be a new record for a Bryce playlist so far, I'm only missing the NWW record from my home library (which isn't w/ me).
  1:26pm John from Florham park:

@ohillipoe and the rest of the group I listen to WCBN-FM and they are pretty good not great like this station is but a lot better then some of the commercial bullshit I hear on so called rock radio
  1:27pm John from Florham park:

@NGH what is NWN?
  1:28pm John from Florham park:

@phillippe sorry I messed up your name
  1:30pm Rory:

It all started with the NWW list for many of us I assume.
  1:31pm Rory:

That list of astride and bands has been an invaluable resource for great sounds from all around.
  1:31pm Rory:

artists
Avatar 1:31pm ERU of Hoegaarden:

@Rory indeed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm steveo:

is there a radio station that plays only stuff on the list?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm ParUbi:

@John NWW= Nurse with Wound
Avatar 1:33pm northguineahills:

@John: whoops, NWW..., and now of course I don't have Randomer either.

@Rory: I actually didn't hear of the NWW list until I had maybe half of the bands on said list (although I was familiar w/ NWW, it was hard for a while to find anything w/ them minus the single they did w/ Stereolab).
  1:33pm John from Florham park:

@Parubi found it after I looked on the play list was just spaced out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm ParUbi:

Someone was playing Mahogany Brain yesterday, for instance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm blee:

Bryce is on fire!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm steveo:

we don't need no water let it burn let it burn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm chresti:

Ken FHP, no, thankfully, it's north. The bigger one is up in Sonoma County
Avatar 1:45pm Chris from DC:

Yay, Ike Yard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm tim from champaign (now washington):

I'm imagining that Bryce is mainlining electricity right now and his consciousness has entered some sort of Phillip K Dick reality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm blee:

where's the marshmallows?
Avatar 1:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have chewed upon vegetables, and I return unto you, thus refreshed. BEHOLD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm sphere:

I'd stay away from Philip K Dick realities, unless you want to be hit by aliens with a beam of intelligent pink light.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Phillippe Bastille:

Has anyone seen the picture of Bryce on the TuneIn Radio phone app? My wife says he has nice eyes.
Avatar 1:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

heh! That photo gets around.
I've been using the TuneIn app on Roku to stream FMU at home. A happy discovery, that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm sphere:

@ Rev - What did the veggies do to you anyways?
  1:53pm John from Florham park:

@Rev I don’t really use tuinin if I wanna hear a station I will go to the app or the website, I avoid using iHeartRadio because they are soulless scumbags
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm steveo:

there is an fmu roku app (haven't tried to stream with it)
  1:54pm nic:

love Crash Course !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Rev I have the Roku app, but all I seem to have are videos. Where is the stream found?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm coelacanth∅:

hey Bryce and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm spodiodi:

also plays well via apple tv's music app (it's in the list under eclectic (drummer stream too))
  2:00pm Flindar:

ROBOT PARTY
Avatar 2:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The FMU roku app seems more like a library of video files, monty hall & love-room gigs. Live streaming is the one huge thing it needs.
Avatar 2:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That said, the Faust gig from last year is up there & it's the bee's effing knees.

Avatar 2:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Phillippe: correct -- for streaming I've had to use the app TuneIn --

it's the only way to get it blasting thru the home system as if I were a happy NYC local...
  2:03pm BH:

one thing about listening to this station on TuneIn is that I don't recall ever having to wait out a 15 second ad before it came on... not sure if that's a thing that stations can avoid on TuneIn or if I've just had good luck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm coelacanth∅:

wow i was just listening to nurse with wound. haven't heard it on fmu in quite some time
  2:03pm Rory:

@RTD - Agreed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ah, I only half-read your post; yeah, I use TuneIn for FMU as well on the Roku. They need more vids in addition to the stream.
Avatar 2:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

BH: same here. Never had any ads forced into the stream. So far so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

I use the paid version of TuneIn; still get ads for certain stations but I think its the station's doing, not TuneIn's. If I hear one more Progressive Insurance or Home Depot ad when I'm trying to listen to some OTR I'm gonna scream louder than Amanda
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm chresti:

What is roku?
  2:08pm BH:

It used to be possible to move the little ball forward to essentially skip the ads on TuneIn, but somebody eventually figured out "hey, that would allow people to skip the ads". Pretty much every TuneIn ad involves switching stations or listening to one.. so it's a little less jarring than what i've heard about Spotify ads
2:08pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

i too have the TUNEIN radio app on both my phone & ipod touch the paid version.
  2:10pm John from Florham park:

Oh you all want to use it for listening to sports on there:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm sphere:

@ chresti - Roku is a device that fits into the USB slot in your TV and it can stream audio and video into your TV from your WiFi.
Avatar 2:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Very weird. I found TuneIn on th'Roku & never realized there was a paid version. It's been about a year & no cost, no ads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

You had a gig in the NYC area recently, Rev? How did that go?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Bryce:

the WFMU app don't got no ads!
2:18pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

THATS RIGHT BRYCE:) And thats what in listening on right now:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm sphere:

So why do you need TuneIn on Roku? No WFMU app on there? I stream from Apple TV with the WFMU app.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Travisano66:

And this is where I leave...
Avatar 2:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@KfHP: Excellently. Brilliant scene there. For those in the area, that Ambient Chaos event at Spectrum = endorsed. Chilled vibe. Groovy noises. Softie chairs. Good people.
2:19pm Listener Phillip In The Bronx:

i usually use the TUNEIN app to listen to a net station called "cult radio a go go" its pretty cool
  2:20pm John from Florham park:

@Travisno66 bored much
Avatar 2:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@sphere: can't stream live with the version I have access to. I'd billion-triple my next pledge if someone could make it so.

Avatar 2:41pm Chris from DC:

Great set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm coelacanth∅:

chresti i use earplugs when i vacuum. it's a wet/dry vac with a relatively high-pitched motor. not worthy of recording, unfortunately.
