The core of Big Planet Noise was formed when Bob Irwin was just 5 years old. The day he picked up his first 45, the whole thing set to spinning – and records and music have been pretty much all he’s thought about ever since. Avocation eventually became vocation, leading to Sundazed Music and Modern Harmonic, all drawing inspiration from Bob’s legendary collection. But, what good is having so many records if no-one else can hear them with you?

Big Planet Noise is Bob’s way of inviting everyone over to hang out in the music room while he and co-host Gina Bacon flip through the stacks and play great records. And – the BPN chat room is where the action is… they yak about what’s on the turntable, tell stories, backstories, and share what was had for dinner, friends ’n family style. Gina keeps the celestial orbit steady-as-it-goes; making sure the stylus stays in the groove, the stacks don’t teeter and the drinks don’t spill all over the console. NB: Gina can also be heard on Saturday afternoons as the host of Someday Matinee (also on WFMU's Give The Drummer Radio stream), a show filled with live musical performances and artist interviews, direct from Music City.

There’s a reason it’s called Big Planet Noise… the show covers a lot of musical ground; familiar, forgotten, unheralded, unheard… The sonic menu is ever-changing; you’ll hear oddball teens, psychedelic wizards, mod lads, sitar savants, space-cadets, groovy soundtracks, and maybe even some bossa nova, when it feels right.

@bpn: Ha! Good Gary Walker line!

Avatar 8:35pm TDK60:

I'll have a cuppa Kinks
  8:46pm Doug in Boston:

I thought last week's show was the best ever. How could I have been so wrong??
Avatar 8:46pm bigplanetnoise:

Kinks Killer!!
Avatar 8:46pm bigplanetnoise:

Doug!! Thanks!!! Don't worry - I'll ruin it all with next week's show!
Avatar 8:46pm Debbie D.:

Every week is better. I don't know how they do it! Bob?
Avatar 8:46pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Matt Clarke:

Ray already had it in him from the start
Avatar 8:47pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks, Debbie...all Bob!
Avatar 8:48pm bigplanetnoise:

Excuse me. Slow dance.
  8:48pm Tim from LH:

According to Ray, they sold something like 36 copies of Their 2nd single.
Avatar 8:48pm GregRnNashville:

Bob - resist the Ted Cassidy records next week..all else will be forgiven :)
Avatar 8:49pm Debbie D.:

Ladies choice.
Avatar 8:49pm Julie P.:

OK, all you guys can back off - Scott Walker is mine! (Well, I might share him with Gina!

Oh holy moly, this is great.

We respect your keeping with the concept Bob.

Thumbtacks on the hammers of Stew's pianer?
Avatar 8:54pm bigplanetnoise:

Andy - you need them ALL!!!
  8:54pm Jan Zed:

Nanker Phelge!!!
Avatar 8:55pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike - it sure sounds tacky....
  8:55pm Doug in Boston:

What I love about many b-sides is they have a feeling of "don't worry about getting it right, just getting it done."
Avatar 8:55pm Gina Bacon:

I love this piano so much.
Avatar 8:55pm Dominick:

No Chinese music
Avatar 8:55pm bigplanetnoise:

I'm Nanker! She's Phelge!

I can spot a Colin Blunstone(sp) vocal anyday... that zombie song didn't sound like him?!?...:)
Avatar 8:56pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey Dom! Chinese food only tonight!
  8:56pm Eargasm!:

This may be your most incredible concept show yet. That's saying a lot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Uncle Michael:

Yes it did, CC!
Avatar 8:57pm Gina Bacon:

Hi Dominick!
Avatar 8:57pm bigplanetnoise:

Ha! Thanks, Eargasm! It actually didn't start its life like this, truth be told. I was gonna do something else, but as I was pulling the records I thought better of it....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Uncle Michael:

Do this with Them, The Who, Manfred Mann, Billy J Kramer, The Hollies, etc.
Avatar 8:58pm bigplanetnoise:

You can hear the tape damage on every version of this song. Prob why it was put to a b-side. Big slur in the record.
  8:58pm Eargasm!:

I don't know anyone who owns the Fortune Teller single.
Avatar 8:59pm bigplanetnoise:

I will, Uncle Mike!!!! I was gonna canvas for the next batch of bands!
  8:59pm vanhooserd:

The groove on 'Take It Easy Baby''
is so....easy. I had that single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm WR:

@eargasm! I agree. Simple but elegant concept realized by an immaculate collector with an exquisite co-pilot.
Avatar 8:59pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey David!!! Welcome! I agree - great groove.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Uncle Michael:

Small Faces, Georgie Fame, Peter & Gordon...

Avatar 9:04pm bigplanetnoise:

WR - yessir.
Avatar 9:05pm Julie P.:

This Hermits B-side is a favorite of mine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Gaylord Fields:

We in the U.S. were lucky to have "Heartbeat" as an a-side!
Avatar 9:05pm TDK60:

love a rhythm guitar-like solo, evolved from Buddy Holly maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Matt Clarke:

What a monster double sided hit
Avatar 9:05pm bigplanetnoise:

Julie - I always thought it was an A-side, but just here in the U.S....
Avatar 9:05pm TDK60:

Wasn't this Herman H. an A-Side in the US?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm WR:

Okay this HH was b-side UK but it had to be a-side in US right???
Avatar 9:05pm bigplanetnoise:

Gaylord - right!
  9:05pm Doug in Boston:

YES! Heartbeat was the "A" side here! I have my sister's original single.
Avatar 9:06pm GregRnNashville:

US Radio flipped over Silhouettes and played the b...right?
Avatar 9:06pm bigplanetnoise:

Both Hermits songs were played on the radio here.
Avatar 9:06pm Julie P.:

So confusing how they did that.
  9:07pm CC:

I was thinking it sounded kind of Reggaeish Matt???
  9:07pm Doug in Boston:

Herman's Hermits has, in recent years, been getting some well-deserved respect.
Avatar 9:07pm bigplanetnoise:

Silhouettes was top ten here, I believe!
  9:07pm CC:

sorry I meant TDK 60...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Gaylord Fields:

@Greg: "Heartbeat" and "Silhouettes" were both designated a-sides as separate discs stateside.
Avatar 9:08pm GregRnNashville:

was "No Milk" US b-side?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Gaylord Fields:

Yes, to "Kind of a Hush"
  9:08pm CC:

Gina and Bob you guys have a really fast bulletin board!!!
Avatar 9:08pm bigplanetnoise:

GregRn - yes - the flip of Kind of A Hush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Matt Clarke:

"I Know Why" was the B-side in the states I believe
Avatar 9:08pm GregRnNashville:

cool..thanks GF
  9:09pm Jay S.:

Yes, "Heartbeat" hit no. 2, followed by "Silhouettes" at no. 5
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Gaylord Fields:

Anytime, Greg! And correct, Matt!
Avatar 9:09pm Gina Bacon:

We do, CC! Thanks to you all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Matt Clarke:

to "Heartbeat" in the States to be specific
  9:10pm vanhooserd:

'All of the Time' is classic DC5, except that wacky guitar. Sure you didn't overdub that, Bob?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Uncle Michael:

So the cash-in soundalike followup was a b-side???
Avatar 9:10pm bigplanetnoise:

I did indeed, David. I had a new slide that I was dying to try out.
Avatar 9:10pm Dominick:

Such a great Troggs track
Avatar 9:11pm bigplanetnoise:

Sideways Wild Thing.
Avatar 9:11pm GregRnNashville:

Avatar 9:11pm TDK60:

the DC 5 I say were weird without knowing it.

you should have made a million dollars for the October Hellraiser without even mentioning it!!!...hehehe...
Avatar 9:12pm Gina Bacon:

Hi vanhooserd!
  9:12pm vanhooserd:

Reg Presley, the Peter Lorre of rock.
Avatar 9:13pm bigplanetnoise:

Yes! It's so important...thank you, CC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Matt Clarke:

The always dandy Kinks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm pacific standard simon:

Not listening to the show because I'm listening to your DJ premium. Then I realized... HEY, THE SHOW IS ON!
Avatar 9:14pm Dan McNabb:

pre-weird hat / beard on dave kinks for the win
Avatar 9:14pm bigplanetnoise:

TDK - hmmmmm. Good question. Maybe the Walkers? Do sunglasses count?
  9:14pm Jay S.:

DC5 were weird when they wanted to be, and smooth as silk when they wanted to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm WR:

Wow classic Kinks that I don't recall ever hearing before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Gaylord Fields:

@TDK60: That ranking may change from 1st b-side to 10th.
  9:14pm CC:

I sure do miss Dave by the way!!!
Avatar 9:15pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey pacific standard Simon!!! Glad you're here!!!
  9:15pm Jay S.:

All these b-sides are great, but the Walker b-sides are MONSTERS
Avatar 9:15pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha pacific standard simon! Glad you're here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Uncle Michael:

Hey, Simon. How are you feeling?
Avatar 9:15pm TDK60:

..wasn't it the Rollings who ditched the dressing alike?
Avatar 9:15pm bigplanetnoise:

Jay - I was JUST saying the same thing to Gina!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Matt Clarke:

@Dan: Dave's lampshade hat
Avatar 9:16pm Gina Bacon:

He was!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Uncle Michael:

My favorite Walker's side is a flip.
  9:16pm Jay S.:

It's just a fact, Bob and Gina!
Avatar 9:16pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike - I bet it's coming up.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Uncle Michael:

I bet it is too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm pacific standard simon:

Better every day, Michael. The stitches itch like mad, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Gaylord Fields:

@TDK60: Yep, the Stones' civvies were their show clothes after a brief foray in some particularly naff suits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Uncle Michael:

Glad to hear that you're on the mend.
  9:19pm vanhooserd:

I know 'It's All Right' from the Kinks Kinkdom LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm WR:

Thanks @vanhooser for the Kinks pointer.
Avatar 9:20pm TDK60:

..thanks Gaylord for the historical fashion citing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Gaylord Fields:

@TDK60: Hysterical fashion, too, if you see the pics.
Avatar 9:23pm bigplanetnoise:

BIG thank-yous to everyone that has given a little bit to BPN and FMU - massively appreciated!!! ❤️
Avatar 9:24pm Gina Bacon:

Yes! Thank you so much for your support! It means so much to us!!
Avatar 9:24pm bigplanetnoise:

Strange Charlie drum sound on this.
Avatar 9:24pm TDK60:

Cool Rollings! Also on their 1st US LP. / Really sorta silly, Gaylord, but on the other hand transcending the band-in-uniform ethos of the mid'-60s was a small step to more cultural freedom!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm pacific standard simon:

The British pressing of the first Stones album has been in constant rotation on my turntable since I revived it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Matt Clarke:

I'll take early Stones any day of the 8 day week
Avatar 9:26pm bigplanetnoise:

PS Simon - it's such a great LP. Still floored by it.
  9:26pm Eargasm!:

Charlie doesn't seem really into it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm WR:

Bob, I have great memory of explaining VU Heroin to my dad when I had the hifi cranked up and I didn't know he was home... me and the record survived with just a scolding of turn it down and a bewildered look that made me think that my explanation of existential evocation of nihilist addiction had been unnecessary and perhaps TMI for 1967 suburban Houston TX household.
  9:27pm Eargasm!:

on that track
  9:27pm vanhooserd:

Alan Price!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Matt Clarke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Matt Clarke:

Yeah Phil! Sell it!
  9:28pm CC:

Avatar 9:28pm bigplanetnoise:

WR - that's hysterical! I've been telling Gina tales of my dad's reaction to the blasting of my first Mothers' LP!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Uncle Michael:

WR, parents are never too young for a proper upbringing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Uncle Michael:

Bob, I'm on your dad's side.
Avatar 9:28pm Gina Bacon:

Formative stuff!
Avatar 9:29pm bigplanetnoise:

Matt - I like the way he still tries to bend the strings on the solo!
Avatar 9:29pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha Uncle Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Matt Clarke:

It's great isn't it bpn? McGuinn is the master of the 12 string bend
Avatar 9:29pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike, so early Mothers are a no-fly, and later Animals are also a no-go???!!!!?!?
Avatar 9:29pm TDK60:

my pop was pretty hep; when he heard me listening to the
Animals and Rollings, he went out and got me a Chicago Blues comp!
Avatar 9:30pm bigplanetnoise:

Matt - he sure is!!!
Avatar 9:30pm Julie P.:

This harmonica is on fire!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm WR:

Pretty Thing sure had a thing for buzzes.
Avatar 9:31pm bigplanetnoise:

TDK - that's pretty cool. My folks = not so hip.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Matt Clarke:

Phil is the greatest and Dick Taylor is a hero
  9:31pm CC:

Tom Petty wasn't too shabby Matt!!!
  9:31pm Tim from LH:

The Pretty Things could do no wrong!
Avatar 9:32pm TDK60:

this is Jeff Beck now right? on slide?
Avatar 9:32pm bigplanetnoise:

Where's Snayle???
  9:32pm Jay S.:

As I always say, The Pretty Things are the greatest UK band never to make it in the US
  9:33pm Doug in Boston:

Why, on the absolute cheapest of my streaming audio setups, a Sony Bluetooth SRS-BTX500 speaker, do cymbals sound the best?
Avatar 9:33pm TDK60:

yeh, such odd sounds has to be Beck!
Avatar 9:33pm bigplanetnoise:

TDK - yes - very early Beck. You can hear him "wow" the volume & tone controls!!!
Avatar 9:33pm Julie P.:

My Mom was pretty hip - she really liked the Stones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Uncle Michael:

I'm just having fun at your expense. I can't pretend to appreciate Frank from the perspective of someone that was in their formative years when that music dropped.
Avatar 9:34pm bigplanetnoise:

Derek Leckenby every week!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Matt Clarke:

Master of the volume knob!
Avatar 9:34pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike - a lot of it scared me to death.
Avatar 9:35pm bigplanetnoise:

Matt - he had to have heard it from Harrison???? But he sure ran with it!!!!
Avatar 9:35pm Snayle:

Avatar 9:35pm Julie P.:

Uncle Michael, Zappa truly defied description, and could NOT be pigeonholed. I think that's why I liked him so much.
Avatar 9:36pm Andy R:

Woah, I never knew this was a B-side!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Gaylord Fields:

@bpm: Best thing about the HH b's — it's Lek, Lek, and more Lek, rather than the sesh cats.
Avatar 9:36pm GregRnNashville:

Doug - the best sonic of the cymbals is the mids..you're listening on a mid friendly speaker :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Matt Clarke:

Another of those pesky UK vs US 45s!
Avatar 9:36pm Snayle:

Sorry for the all caps … didn't mean to shout
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar 9:36pm Julie P.:

Andy R, that's two of us!
  9:36pm Jay S.:

This was a UK b-side????
Avatar 9:37pm bigplanetnoise:

Dave insisted that this be issued as the A-side in the U.S. But - a U.K. b-side!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm pacific standard simon:

Zappa woke me up to a world of music. That said, I found the Flo and Eddie phase somewhat off-putting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Gaylord Fields:

DC5: Another UK b-side/US a-side!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm WR:

This DC5 Because has to be another example of the UK b-side being a-side in the US?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Uncle Michael:

Dave eventually ran out of feet to shoot himself in.
Avatar 9:38pm bigplanetnoise:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Gaylord Fields:

@Jay S.: The DC5 were practically two different groups in the UK and US, if you go by what was released in each country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Matt Clarke:

He finally gave in and put their catalogue on spotify
Avatar 9:39pm bigplanetnoise:

God knows he wouldn't license it to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Gaylord Fields:

Same with Dusty Springfield, as far as having scads of US only/UK only songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Uncle Michael:

After 50 years of being invisible on American radio....missing the entire golden oldies bandwagon.
Avatar 9:40pm Julie P.:

He didn't want to license it to anyone for the longest time, and like Matt said, he shot himself in the foot by holding it up for so long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Matt Clarke:

I remember in Boston the DC5 were played often on oldies
Avatar 9:40pm Julie P.:

Woops, I mean Uncle Michael.
Avatar 9:40pm bigplanetnoise:

He really did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm WR:

Thank you for making the Troggs one the b-bands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Gaylord Fields:

That 2CD/DC5 on Hollywood was about the extent of it for decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm pacific standard simon:

I like the KISS take on The Dave Clark 5. They did it right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Matt Clarke:

And the PBS documentary could have helped, but it didn't
Avatar 9:42pm bigplanetnoise:

I had one other band in the mix that I thought would be.... well... funny. But - they wound up being too annoying for me to handle when planning the show. Any guesses?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Uncle Michael:

A handful of songs, Matt. Many of his peers faired much better. For example American audiences are FAR more familiar with the Hollies catalog.
Avatar 9:42pm bigplanetnoise:

The kick drum on the UK pressing!
Avatar 9:43pm TDK60:

..c'mon all you Mods, you gotta admit this Kinks is a Choice Cut!
  9:43pm Jay S.:

That DC5 was one expensive used CD set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Uncle Michael:

Gerry and the Pacemakers?
  9:43pm Eargasm!:

Freddie and The Dreamers?
Avatar 9:43pm Julie P.:

Gaylord, are you talking about The History Of the Dave Clark Five? I have that. Found it in a Borders, not too expensive.
Avatar 9:44pm bigplanetnoise:

All the DC5 albums wound up being booted on CD in the 80's as two-fers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Matt Clarke:

Bobby Graham still on drums here
Avatar 9:44pm Andy R:

I think I paid like $35 for that DC5 set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Gaylord Fields:

@Julie P.: Not super rare or expensive anymore, just the only game in town.
  9:45pm Eargasm!:

You could probably buy the entire DC5 catalog on vinyl for under a $100
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm WR:

Yes this Kinks was all time great garage band rave up tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Uncle Michael:

I'm going to have to stay up late to hear my fave Walkers.
Avatar 9:45pm bigplanetnoise:

No - I can do both Gerry and Freddie. So to speak. This other band would have been kind of weird. But - I've never liked them. And playing through a few of their 45s just confirmed it for me. It's prob not hip to say, because it was a Meek production.
Avatar 9:45pm Andy R:

  9:46pm Jay S.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Matt Clarke:

  9:46pm Eargasm!:

Avatar 9:46pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike - I thought this was gonna be it!!!
Avatar 9:46pm Julie P.:

Gaylord, a pretty comprehensive collection, though.
Avatar 9:46pm bigplanetnoise:

YES! Honeycombs! Couldn't do it then, can't do it now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Uncle Michael:

This is great. It's not my favorite Walkers single release.
  9:47pm Eargasm!:

I have had their album for years. Really tough to get through it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Matt Clarke:

Haha 4 guesses. I am a fan of some of their sides
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm pacific standard simon:

You missed the best Hermits b-side of all:"My Reservation's Been Confirmed." That HAS to be Jimmy Page on lead guitar.
Avatar 9:47pm TDK60:

..how are we voting tonight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Gaylord Fields:

DC5 US/UK LP ratio is about 5-1!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Uncle Michael:

How many set tonight, Bob?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Gaylord Fields:

@Julie: No beef with what's on it at all.
  9:48pm Jay S.:

Honeycombs have at least one great b-side...Can't Get Through to You.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm WR:

This track is so good I want to hear it twice in a row!
Avatar 9:59pm TDK60:

[Visited a pal in Philly once. Saw that he had about 20 of my LPs. I asked if could take them back; he said, some yeh, others he wasn't finished with yet.]
Avatar 9:59pm bigplanetnoise:

Simon - I've got to give that another chance, I guess. I was pretty dismissive of it.
  10:00pm CC:

I always thought Eric Burdon should have got much more credit for his song Heaven?!?
Avatar 10:00pm bigplanetnoise:

TDK - never lend records!!!
  10:00pm Eargasm!:

Such an amazing Pretty's single. Both sides devastating.
Avatar 10:01pm bigplanetnoise:

Avatar 10:02pm TDK60:

..those were stolen! I was being too nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Matt Clarke:

The Pretties always deliver
Avatar 10:03pm Julie P.:

TDK, what Bob said! I lost all my original Monkees albums when I lent them to someone I thought was a friend and they sold them at a garage sale when they were supposed to have been making a tape . . . needless to say, former friend.

'Birds pushing music beyond!
Avatar 10:03pm bigplanetnoise:

Clearly, we're going a little late tonight!!!
  10:03pm Eargasm!:

I can't either. They did a show in Boston around 1999 that just blew the roof off the place.
Avatar 10:04pm Gina Bacon:

Wow, that stinks, TDK60. I lost a few LPs myself that way, and I assume they were sold on 2nd Avenue...
Avatar 10:04pm bigplanetnoise:

TDK - 'Birds were GREAT pushers.
Avatar 10:04pm Julie P.:

Bob, aren't we supposed to get three hours?
  10:04pm Doug in Boston:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm pacific standard simon:

The BBC Yardbirds stuff is pretty darn good too.

Julie - such a slave driver you are!!!!!
Avatar 10:05pm bigplanetnoise:

I'm with you, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm WR:

LOL. Yes Julie, I was doing the math and was looking forward to at least 6 rounds.
Avatar 10:06pm Snayle:

I can't believe how great this show is -- so glad there are archives so I can play it all week long !
Avatar 10:06pm bigplanetnoise:

PS Simon - it's SOOO incredible!!!
Avatar 10:07pm bigplanetnoise:

Thank you, Snayle! ❤️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Gaylord Fields:

DC5 ballads [swoon]!
  10:07pm Jay S.:

Oh, this is a great one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm WR:

Bob, can you check with Doug, if there is a way for the archive to have the extended time. I went back to previous show and it stopped at 2 hours. I think I'm right about that.
Avatar 10:09pm bigplanetnoise:

This Friday night/Sat morning - 2am - TCM is showing Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls... Who's with me?!?!?!? Carrie Nations! Strawberry Alarm Clock!!!!
Avatar 10:09pm bigplanetnoise:

WR - that's now been fixed to the best of my knowledge! All three hours should be there! I hope!
Avatar 10:09pm Julie P.:

Make room on the floor, Gaylord - Imma bout to swoon myself.
Avatar 10:09pm Gina Bacon:

They were going to swap that out, WR...it took a day or so!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Gaylord Fields:

This is my happening and it freaks me out!!!
Avatar 10:10pm Snayle:

That's 3am eastern? I would love to but.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Matt Clarke:

Oh thanks for the heads up Bob!
Avatar 10:10pm Julie P.:

Oooh, gotta make a note about the movie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Gaylord Fields:

@Julie P.: Swoon like nobody's watching!
  10:10pm Jay S.:

This is much better known than the a-side (which is also great)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm WR:

This Zombies is another oh no I can't believe it is a b-side
Avatar 10:11pm bigplanetnoise:

I LOVE watching those in the middle of the night. Feels good to know there are maybe four other folks in the universe watching with me.
Avatar 10:11pm Snayle:

Oh crikey - haven't heard this Zombies in ages - and man, sounds better than ever !
Avatar 10:11pm Julie P.:

This is a fave Zombies track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Uncle Michael:

This is a different mix and maybe even a different take than I'm familiar with from the Zombies comps I have.
  10:12pm Tim from LH:

The Zombies open their live show with this. Colin still has the same voice!
Avatar 10:12pm bigplanetnoise:

This is right from the UK single, with a little help from my Sugarcube SC-1. Am I the only person crazy enough to have purchased one? Just for radio.
  10:12pm Jay S.:

Those late night TCM movies are frequently posted on their on-demand site
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Gaylord Fields:

Way back in the Jurassic Era I had hear the People version first and loved it, and then I heard the OG version...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Uncle Michael:

Yeah, completely different take. Different harmonies. Rod's solo is different, more reverb on the vocal...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm WR:

The Zombies have been so good touring recent years.
  10:13pm CC:

now that is definitely Colin Blunestone(sp)!!!
Avatar 10:13pm Julie P.:

Was this another one where the US A-side was the British B-side?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Uncle Michael:

The single is therefore not on the comps I have!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm pacific standard simon:

I'll probably be there for Beyond The Valley of The Dolls. It gives me the creeps, but that's nothing new.
  10:14pm vanhooserd:

Comcast has cut off our TCM. Supposedly it's now part of another package & they want more $. Grrrr...
Avatar 10:14pm bigplanetnoise:

That's wild, Uncle Mike!!! Never knew that. Most of the comps are stereo from what I remember.
  10:14pm Jay S.:

These Troggs b-sides are really unique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Matt Clarke:

Another monster 45 here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Gaylord Fields:

@Julie P: This was the same US/UK, but People had the hit with ILY.
  10:15pm Eargasm!:

Another all time Troggs fave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Uncle Michael:

I'm not sure I've *ever* heard this version before.
Avatar 10:15pm Snayle:

And filling in for Sky Saxon/Seeds this week, Ladies & Gents, it's The Troggs....
Avatar 10:15pm bigplanetnoise:

I don't think this ever got a U.S. release.....
Avatar 10:15pm bigplanetnoise:

I loved the People version, but it kind of scared me as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Uncle Michael:

And to answer your question about the Sugarcube...yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Matt Clarke:

Oh yes. Dave Davies monster. COME ON NOW
Avatar 10:16pm bigplanetnoise:

You have one too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm WR:

Tequila time Bob? I must admit I over indulged last week and had a hang over Tuesday work day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

Bob, I'll make you a needle drop of I Love You from the comp I've had for 35 years, just for reference.

No...YES, you're the only person crazy enough!
  10:17pm Jay S.:

Agreed Bob, the People version was a little scary
Avatar 10:17pm bigplanetnoise:

WR - tomorrow!!! Already thinking about it!!!
  10:17pm Doug in Boston:

I've said it before and I'm saying it again -- this is better than anything Netflix has to offer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

Dude, this is the SIXTH WB b-side, as far as I know!!!!

Avatar 10:18pm TDK60:

the Kinks B tune fits in with the 'Tired' theme, as if she's shown up after Side A.
Avatar 10:18pm bigplanetnoise:

Uncle Mike - glad we got it for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 10:18pm Gina Bacon:

Thank you, Doug!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Gaylord Fields:

Johnny Franz was one of the few UK producers (pre–Roy Wood) who knew his way around the Wall of Sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Uncle Michael:

I loved hearing about that period in 30 Century Man.
Avatar 10:23pm TDK60:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Gaylord Fields:
