Yuka C. Honda played at Monty Hall this past Thursday for Plants and Synths. She played in two parts— first with Kahimi Karie on tuning fork and then with her laptop duo ON/IN with Akio Mokuno. We’ll hear the whole set on Monday. Go see ON/IN perform at The Stone Brooklyn on Oct 18/19!

From Yuka:
October 18th (fri): ON/IN my duo with Akio Mokuno will be performing with Greg Fox on drums.

Greg, Akio and I performed together this March for my Opera “No Revenge Necessary” and LOVED it. We are really excited to make this happen again.

October 19th (sat): My new project called “Ash Glaze” will perform. It’s a quartet with Grey Mcmurray on guitar and voice, Devin Hoff on double bass, Kahimi Karie on tuning forks.

If the 18th is the fire, the 19th will be an ocean music. It will be my first show featuring Grey (super excited for this!), Devin and I go way back— we’ve perform together with Cibo Matto, Nels Cline projects, and have done various adventurous gigs together. Kahimi Karie, even though she is most known for her popular song hits in Japan (Shibuya-kei), will be playing tuning forks including famous crystal pyramid.

@Olivia: The show was great! And if anyone wants to adopt a plant (ie: purchase) them from WFMU I am pretty sure a small nursery of noise-exposed plants now exists somewhere, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm olivia:

yep! If you live in these parts and can come pick it up, there are a couple plants available with your donation to WFMU! $20 donation and higher will get cha one.... Email me at olivia@wfmu.org if you are interested.

Not that it's too important, but they pronounce it in a very Americanny way: [mont-PILL-yer] with nothing cut off at the end -- don't drop the "R". Heh.
Avatar 4:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Mont - PEEL - yer - Verrmont

@Ike I just say it however Harty White says it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm ɨkɛ:

In any case, I enjoyed that set even more the second time! (I was having a minor out-of-body experience when I heard it in person on Thursday night. But not the drug kind, just the mental-health kind.)

You know Olivia, as I sat down to eat my franks and beans - listening - I could have institively switched on CNN - but that's not the news anymore. Didn't fel like anything else and then I got a wave of gratitude that WFMU exists and makes all sorts of audio that I can get taken away with. So thanks - good job!
  5:34pm John from Florham park:

@brian as someone who really does not watch the news anymore I know you mean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Michael 98145:
