Brian why is it hard to find?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Rich in Washington:

We still haven't found what we're looking for...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm fleep:

This is the stream, I think, sounds streamy
  12:13pm John from Florham park:

@Fleep so far no drop outs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Rich in Washington:

Oh, I hear something show-like now!
  12:15pm John from Florham park:

@Rich yes sounds good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Carmichael:

Heya Mary and forlorn souls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Rich in Washington:

Left my coffee travel cup behind so have been fighting phantom coffee syndrome during my entire commute - reaching for my cup and it's not there. MADENNING!
  12:22pm John from Florham park:

@Rich that really sucks sorry to hear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Webhamster Henry:

Ken was having internet connectivity problems this morning vis-a-vis the playlist update and occasional tiny dropouts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Rich in Washington:

@Webhamster Henry: Has the dropout problem been happening also on the Motherstream as well as the Otherstreams?
  12:25pm John from Florham park:

@Webhamster that must cause our fearless leader to tear his hair out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Rich in Washington:

@JfFp: I made some triple strength espresso here at work so I have caffeine coursing through my veins again.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm doctorjazz:

Hi folks!
  12:31pm John from Florham park:

@Mary on one of the other streams last week one of the DJs was having massive problems, think it was the sheena stream
Avatar 12:36pm Mary Wing:

Yes, the internet is getting cranky in it's old age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Rich in Washington:

The internet's almost old enough to be going through its spiritual crisis.
  12:37pm John from Florham park:

@MW I think we are all getting old and cranky:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Rich in Washington:

If you go back to the Arpanet era, you could say it's going through its mid-life crisis! Uh oh! Watch out! The internet's going to get hairplugs and a Mini Cooper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Rich in Washington:

Both the Sheena stream and the Drummer stream seem to be having these little dropouts that just trigger the auto-stream but then returns. It's a bit maddening. But is it also happening on the main WFMU stream?
  12:42pm John from Florham park:

@Rich as far as I know no
Avatar 12:42pm Mary Wing:

I don't know, Rich, but if there were dropouts, it would just be silence, not an auto-stream track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Rich not that I've seen/heard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Rich in Washington:

oh, you're right, Mary! I didn't think of that! My sole experience with WFMU has been through its streams.
  12:46pm Mark R:

This Shacks track is rather dreamy and pleasant.

Hi Marry and whatever
  1:15pm rw:

Good morning!!
Speaking of classical, I have a baby boomer aged friend who once said about classic rock, “I liked that stuff as a kid but I didn’t know I would be doomed to listening to it for the rest of my life!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Michael 98145:

( you don't -have- to )

Avatar 1:16pm Mary Wing:

I should point out the pledge banner at the top of this here playlist; we need your financial support to keep going for the rest of the year so please make a pledge to keep freeform radio going strong!
Avatar 1:17pm Mary Wing:

Hiya rw! Michael is right, plenty of non-classic-rock offerings here at WoofMoo Central.

  1:24pm John from Florham park:

@Mary it gets a little old when you hear stairway to heaven for the 1000 time and a Beatles song that you have heard a million times, same with The Who and the Stones
  1:25pm John from Florham park:

@Granny miss you on Facebook ale and bake
Avatar 1:25pm Mary Wing:

Howdy, John from Florham Park. It is true, i've been sleeping instead lately. Hope S.A.M. is doing alright!
  1:28pm John from Florham park:

@granny missed Sam too this morning was a bit of a sleepyhead
Avatar 1:28pm Mary Wing:

True, John, but on Michele's show yesterday, she was playing "guilty pleasure" songs, and, while most of them were overplayed at the time they were released, I liked hearing most of them. Most; not all.
  1:28pm John from Florham park:

@Granny it was medson last day on the show and barbikat made an appearance
  1:29pm John from Florham park:

@mary loved that show yesterday was really great to listen too and I can’t believe anyone would play lady Gaga
Avatar 1:32pm Mary Wing:

I have no problem with Lady Gaga, but that Shallow song is just not that good. Maybe it needs to be in the movie to give it more context.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

Irrelevant snack note: I just opened a jar of raspberry preserves that has "contains no preservatives" in small print on the label.

Ok, got that off my chest. Returning the message board to relevant chat about music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Ike:

I knew that had to be a 70s (or 80s) shirt as soon as I saw the FM frequency on it. The shirts never have the FM frequency (or frequencies) on them anymore.
Avatar 2:10pm Mary Wing:

Heh, yeah, how last century to mention FM frequencies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm ɛɨk:

I think that's ridiculous. Just my opinion but why spend money to get 91.9 FM and then not at least put it on all the dang shirts? Oh well, c'est la management.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm ɛɨk:

Although maybe with 91.1, 90.1 *and* 91.9, the designs would get too cluttered, I guess?
Avatar 2:14pm Mary Wing:

Well, the folks in Europe will get confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

this is indeed a very special version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

Some commenter here encouraged me to read Richard Hell's autobiography because my aunt Cookie appears in it, and he can definitely write. It was pretty entertaining for the most part except for some sexism, though it's not always clear if he still approves of the way he used to act with the ladies. And the book doesn't really give a sense of how he drew people that way -- but maybe that's just the inexplicable animal nature of magnetism with some people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

How much more does 2-sided printing cost? Might look good to have a single line in relatively small print with the frequencies at the base of the back of the collar, like these shirts www.fairfaxscreenprinting.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

ⓘⓚⓔ: ah, yes, charisma. these days we call them narcissists…
Avatar 2:21pm Mary Wing:

Some folks don't like 2-sided shirts, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Rich in Washington:

I was surprised to learn that there was a precursor to Hell's Blank Generation song, that it's sort of a take-off of Bob McFadden's Beat Generation.
Avatar 2:23pm northguineahills:

Wow, "Blank Generation", a song I've actually heard before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

ⓘⓚⓔ: and is your aunt Cookie Mueller? That "Edgewise" bio about her is truly stupendous.
Avatar 2:24pm βrian:

Back from the Bi Bim Bap excursion. Too yummy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm ɨkɛ:

Ah, but are all charismatic people narcissists? And are all narcissists charismatic? (Genuinely asking -- I have no idea.)

@GST, yes that's her. A little embarrassed that I still haven't finished "Edgewise" but I'm glad to see someone else here likes it! Also some of Cookie's own legends were more apocryphal than the book might admit, but that's how Cookie liked it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Mary & All. Loving this 3OaK. Feeling somewhere between "Blank" and "Beat" on this sultry afternoon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

ɨkɛ: It seems "Edgewise" is the perfect way to remember a legend like Cookie. I have a friend who says he was "babysat" by Cookie in his childhood, however i think may be a… generous way to describe the reality of her relationship with kids.
Avatar 2:32pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Kevin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

This is starting to mutate into "Stray Cat Strut"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Ike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Ike was Cookie part of Waters' social entourage? He and his entourage crashed a party my friend and I were hosting in Charles Village in the early 80s. Would be wild if I actually had met her (or asked her to leave ;-))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Webhamster Henry:
