Listener comments!

  3:07am Stanley:

Hey hey. Look who's here.
Avatar 3:08am Bill Mac:

Wow, what are you doing up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09am Scraps:

h’lo hey hey h’lo

The devil came and took me from bar to street to bookie
  3:11am Stanley:

Good morning Bill. I'm on a train to London on my way to France to see the Aged Ps. Very happy to catch you live in your old slot.
Avatar 3:14am Brian in UK:

Hey Bill, Stanley 'n Scraps.
Dog walked, chickens fed and now to paint the stair well. Rather than badly!!

Stanley, are you taking Eurostar?
Avatar 3:16am Bill Mac:

Did I actually do this at one point in my life? I'm already gassed! I think now that I'm in the room things are picking up. Happy Friday all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21am Scraps:

Bill Mac, I’ve been listening to your archive again, and you played Les Crane: I never actually heard “Desiderata” until two days ago when you played it, even though I played “Deteriorata” a thousand times because it’s hysterical. Even though I had never heard the original parodied. It’s even funnier now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am Scraps:

Ah, love Thinking Fellers. Have all of them. I think.
Avatar 3:24am Bill Mac:

Was Deteriorata done by National Lampoon?
Avatar 3:24am Brian in UK:

Scraps, people used to have posters of that text.
  3:25am Stanley:

Hi Brian. Unfortunately not. Stansted airport. It is possible to do the Eurostar journey in one long day getting in at around eleven at night but with no chance of a leisurely lunch in Paris
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25am Scraps:

Phillip Johnston! Well. I wish I could see him (or Joel Forrester) live anymore....
Avatar 3:25am Bill Mac:

Thinking Fellers are one of those bands that fall into the category of musical comfort food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25am Scraps:

N. Lampoon, yep.
  3:26am Vix:

Good morning, what a lovely song to tune into :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am Scraps:

I think =Radio Dinner=
Avatar 3:27am Bill Mac:

I had a renegade music teacher in high school that would give us conduct tests - he more than occasionally played a Lampoon album to try to crack us up.
Avatar 3:28am Bill Mac:

Hiya Vix!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am Scraps:

Brian, they say: but really, seriously, I can’t believe it
  3:29am Vix:

Morning Bill Mac !!! 8.28am friday morning here in scotland hope you have a great day
  3:30am Stanley:

Hi Vix. I'm on the Edinburgh to London train. Where do you stay?
Avatar 3:30am Brian in UK:

Scraps have to confess that the Bridget Bardot on a Harley poster was more to my taste, than turgid words.
  3:31am Vix:

ha no way stanley !! i live in glasgow but moving to Edinburgh shortly , just got a wee flat there !!!
Avatar 3:31am Bill Mac:

I'd have to agree with Brian on that one..... turgid indeed...
  3:33am Stanley:

We've arrived at York, perhaps my favourite station. It has this pub with incredible beer. Front is on the street and the back on the platform. Perfect place to break your journey
  3:34am Vix:

@Stanley yes York is lovely, are you from Edin ? its a nice journey, my fav station is St Davids in Exeter
Avatar 3:34am Brian in UK:

Just about to enter a telephone box to turn into Dynamic Painting Man.

Stanley, I think that Marylebone Station used to have a wonderful bar. Not been for years.
  3:35am Stanley:

I'm in Leith. Great to see the FMU Scottish branch expanding. Look me up when you move.
  3:35am Vix:

Leith !! nice !! we just got a flat in Meadowbank, im from Grangemouth ... you heard of it hahaha
  3:36am Vix:

I love that I randomly found this station and then keep finding people from edinburgh on it, love it !! so good to hear diff music
  3:36am Stanley:

Don't forget the rear view of the tennis player poster from those times
Avatar 3:37am Brian in UK:

@vix. Stanley likes beer if you had not noticed.
  3:37am Stanley:

He speaks...
Avatar 3:37am Brian in UK:

No drawers.
  3:38am Vix:

@brian Stanley is wise !!
Avatar 3:40am Brian in UK:

Bill is Gong's Bez.
Avatar 3:42am Brian in UK:

Stanley, no skanking in the aisles. Bet 95% of travellers on the train are on the mobile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am ausmanx:

evening bill and all, it's actually getting on for dinner time in sydney. diplo played a dj set on top of the harbour bridge this week. sacrilege!
Avatar 3:47am Brian in UK:

Hey ausmanx. Finished your Summer season of house gigs?
Avatar 3:47am Bill Mac:

Hey Ausmanx, don't know much about Diplo, except that he played at a local sporting event. A favorite of the kiddies?
  3:47am Stanley:

Vix. Brian knows my two hobbies. This wonderful station and delicious craft beer. There's a few non hipster places I frequent in Edinburgh, if you're interested (and I must admit a few hipster joints too).

Ride that train, Bill.
Riddim go forward!
  3:47am Vix:

Now that is a song and some title lol
  3:48am Vix:

Oh, I know edin well, my guy is from there, depending on your age, you might know eaach other lol it is a small world.....
Avatar 3:48am Brian in UK:

Just bought a Thomas Tallis record, this puts me in mind of it.
Avatar 3:48am Bill Mac:

Good times Stanley, have a drink on me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am Fran:

Mornin' all - a quick visit whilst working at home and waiting for a telephone conference to begin in a while. I need some light relief before that!
  3:50am Vix:

@Fran Stanley is just getting the beers in, is that light enough ?
Avatar 3:50am Bill Mac:

@BiUK I'll need to check him out later
  3:51am Stanley:

Fran. Long time no see. Hope you are well
Avatar 3:52am Bill Mac:

Hey ho Fran!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am Fran:

Hi Stanley - well thanks and hope its the same with you?
Avatar 3:52am Brian in UK:

Hey Fran 'working from home'. Nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am Fran:

Hey ho Bill!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53am Fran:

Hi Brian - its my version of noise cancelling headphones - trying to tune into a telephone conference in an open plan office is a nightmare!
Avatar 3:54am Brian in UK:

People never drink Light and Bitter any more. Or Brown and Mild.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55am Fran:

Hearing Jarboe on this song reminds me I haven't heard Sandy Dillon for ages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am Fran:

Brian - or laugh at Hale and Pace or listen to Millican and Nesbitt. Duos are so last year!
Avatar 3:56am Bill Mac:

Currently reading a Swans bio. Her story is pretty interesting.
Avatar 3:59am Brian in UK:

I laughed more at Batman & Robin, better duo,
  4:01am Stanley:

Can't complain. Any good gigs lately? I'm sad the McKay/Manzanera tour is off. Poor old Andy's unable to play his sax because of a degenerative hand condition.

Sunn o))), Delphines lined up, gutted I will miss King Gizzard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01am Fran:

Dempsey and Makepeace were also quite hilarious!
  4:01am ignatatus666:

What? What is this thing? When? Where? I want to see Mdou!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am ausmanx:

well, diplo's just got too big... he used to be crazy good, anarchic. now he just makes money. still got some gigs to come in my living room, brian... anthony pateras in a few weeks. the oren ambrachi was huge, and chris abrahams quartet in november will be too. but not sure what i'm doing next year. apart from coming to shropshire...
  4:02am Stanley:

*Delines* sorry autotype mistake
Avatar 4:04am Brian in UK:

ausmanx, might catch you then, if you are passing.
  4:05am Vix:

i used to like diplo but they yeah, he just got too big and just hmmmm ..

@stanley curious now that you may know people that we know lol lol are you around 40?
Avatar 4:06am Sem:

What's all this then?

Good morning, Bill, greets, Zzzzzzeroheads, howdeedo, all.
  4:07am Stanley:

Octopus in boots eh?
Avatar 4:07am Bill Mac:

  4:07am Vix:

@stanley nothing to do with Kelburn at all ?
  4:07am ignatatus666:

Bill Mac
What was that gig you were talking about? With Mdou Moctar
Avatar 4:08am Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12am Fran:

Yes a shame about the Phil and Andy tour Stanley but some good stuff there! My next big thing is Bevis Frond tomorrow and then Tusk Festival in Gateshead with Magma, The Necks, Moor Mother, Jandek, Sunn Trio. Getting the odd gig of my own in again too as the drums are now back out in anger!
Avatar 4:14am Sem:

A change in the Food and Drug regulations here has expanded the kinds of things which can be distilled and called vodka.
Ladies and germs, I give you Vodcow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14am Scraps:

Avatar 4:14am Sem:

...and hello, the FRAN!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15am Kevin-san:

Now we're REALLY up the junction!
Avatar 4:15am Bill Mac:

Hey Kevin!
  4:16am Stanley:

Fraid not, Vix but my younger friends say it's great. Yeah, I'm more at the age for indoor pursuits nowadays. I love the vibe of festivals but it's the discomfort I can't take anymore and I'm not into glamping like some folks complete with fridges teevees etc
  4:17am Colin in Durham, England:

No more nights nappy smelly
Avatar 4:17am Brian in UK:

@vix this is the pensioners show!!!!
  4:18am ignatatus666:

Thanks Bill
I’ll sit this out
Hopefully catch him again in the NY area.
Avatar 4:18am Sem:

I believe I heard a high school band called Nappy Smelly, at one point. Later became Nappy Dread.
Avatar 4:19am Brian in UK:

Hey Colin, it was two weeks ago that our daughter moved from Houghton to Chester. Close by.
  4:19am Vix:

@stanley ah yo uwere the only stanley i could think of that might have known the folk my guy knows, lol he is 41 i am of course younger :) hahaha

  4:21am Stanley:

  4:23am Vix:

Avatar 4:24am Sem:

  4:25am Vix:

Oh that bass reminds me of Cold water kids, hang me up to dry
  4:27am Stanley:

Vix, if you haven't already, get yersel' signed up on FMU friendship thingy and you can "clicky star' tracks you like and they get saved to your favourites to go back to and play again.
  4:29am Vix:

@stanley I have no clue what that is ? if its on this page, I will find it :)
  4:30am Vix:

I just get this error when trying to reg: Sorry, you can't register at this time. Contact WFMU staff for more information.

cannibal holocaust...the most influential film ever....took a class on its implications to all current forms of film...the news reporters deserved the shredding...
  4:31am Colin in Durham, England:

Houghton and Chester! I’ll be buggered
Avatar 4:31am Bill Mac:

Never saw the movie but I believe I had a clipping of the movie poster hanging on the bulletin board in my office when it came out. I'll bet it's on the youtubes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Fran:

Bill - the duos are on the whole pretty awful 70's and 80's comedians (alleged) TV detectives and grim winners of the Opportunity Knocks talent show. I'm sure that with Brian and Stanley we could come up with a virtually endless list of horrors but we would never buy those hours and days back!
  4:33am Stanley:

Vix. Hit up Joe McGasko for the latest on that
Avatar 4:33am Sem:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Fran:

Avatar 4:34am Sem:

Did Iggy always channel Bowie when he sang?
  4:35am Vix:

@stanley whooooooooo ???
  4:35am Stanley:

Fran check out the track by Supersilent on today's Nick Name show. It's one crazy drummer sounding like he's playing in an amusement arcade
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am Fran:

Nice call Stanley I will do that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am Fran:

@stanley thank you

Tip of the beret in your direction, Continental Stanley.
Avatar 4:43am Brian in UK:

vix, Joe is tops very helpful. He has a show on Monday two o'clock our time, Also check the Drummer Stream shows. There is a whole world on this station. It gets under your skin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45am ausmanx:

most important gig of the week here was the tribute show for Damien Lovelock of The Celibate Rifles last sunday. one is still inclined to think they would be revered around the world had they not been SO australian. jello biafra flew in just to do a half hour with them. and i was reminded that "electravision mantra" transitions from the stooges to nirvana with peerless ease. even after 35 years, they were still magnificent
Avatar 4:45am Bill Mac:

Joe's a maniac... when someone asks him to make a comp he'll make you three.
  4:45am Vix:

@brian yeah, i really enjoy this station, love a bit of clay in the morning and modern world with trouble .. thanks for all your help guys ..
Avatar 4:48am Bill Mac:

@Ausmanx Didn't realize he passed. I just read where Ginger Baker is in critical condition...
Avatar 4:50am Brian in UK:

Used to like Billy Kramer's version. And his song Little Children, well I was twelve!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53am Krys O.:

Hey, Bill Mac! Great to hear ya!
Avatar 4:54am Bill Mac:

Hiya Krys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55am ausmanx:

yes, bill, it was a great tribute, he was pretty astonishing. there are a lot of us ageing out there! but i grew up with the rifles, and they were great people too...
  4:57am BEAVO:

Argus Saw them perform the whole album couple years ago
  4:58am Ian:

blink blink..wink wink...twink twink...
Avatar 4:59am Bill Mac:

This is the only song of theirs I know. I'm not a big fan of the twin geetar attack but I dig this
Avatar 4:59am Bill Mac:

Going up the ladder, hope Jacob is not up there too. Stairway to Heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03am Fran:

Weirdly listening to an almost silent broadcast and following the comments whilst engaged in a telephone meeting. Top multitasking!
  5:04am BEAVO:

They were a big touring act in the 70s never had any hits
  5:04am BEAVO:

It has a great hypgnosis cover too
Avatar 5:05am Brian in UK:

Fran just grunt occasionally.
Avatar 5:05am Sem:

Just don't go knockin' on Heaven's door, BiUK.
Avatar 5:09am Bill Mac:

@BEAVO If BTO could have hits then these guys could definitely had hits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am Fran:

Brian - as there is no visual content I often do other things such as make fine coffee and order CDs online at the same time - but do grunt at regularly frequencies too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13am Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am Nulsh:

Gooooooood mornin'!
Avatar 5:14am Ole 'Rick:

  5:15am BEAVO:

@bilmac That was actually one of the short songs they tended to do long drawn out jam things like the Allman Brothers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am ausmanx:

i do much the same, fran... have to work on subtitles for movies while "listening"; got an icelandic/serbian gangster movie this evening
Avatar 5:16am Bill Mac:

Nulsh & Ole Rick.... we've reached critical mass
  5:16am Vix:

@ausmanx wait , that is your job ??? if so how cool and random !! but cooool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Scraps:

Gravity & Speechless albums were fun, still fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am ausmanx:

vix, yes lovely job (editing translated scripts) and i've been doing it for decades. but the tv station is now run by a bunch of managerial morons, like most places. it used to be amazing
Avatar 5:21am Bill Mac:

@Scraps Gravity is an almost perfect album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Scraps:

You can count on me to exclaim Shrimp Boat if playing Shrimp Boat, probably
  5:23am BEAVO:

Free your mind your ass will follow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Fran:

Agreed Bill - Gravity is a classic!
Avatar 5:24am Bill Mac:

Saying it randomly might seem inappropriate to others
  5:25am BEAVO:

You’re talking about the Fred Fred albums? I’ve got both of those on vinyl I think
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25am Scraps:

Funka shrimp boat delic

Lovin' this, BillMac.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am Scraps:

It’s true that in like 1971 War and Funkadelic sounded a lot similar
Avatar 5:29am Brian in UK:

Great show, Mr Mac, would expect nothing less.
Good weekend everyone.

  5:36am BEAVO:

That was the single version the LP version went on forever before the vocal comes in.

  5:37am Stanley:

Yo ho ho and a nice cup of tea.
Where do you get this stuff Bill?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38am Scraps:

I saw Skeleton Crew with like twelve people in the audience. It was comfy
  5:39am Stanley:

And by the way we're nearing the end of the show and Beefheart hasn't shown up yet. I'm getting nervous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40am Scraps:

Avatar 5:44am Bill Mac:

I'll pander for you
  5:46am Stanley:

Vix. I'm sure we'll *meet* again on the boards, now that you're in the swim.
In the meantime The Dreadnought is my local watering hole of choice and Salthorse for amazing beer and the best burgers and, of course, The Hanging Bat for great beer (with attitude thrown in) but you probably know that one. Take care and good luck with the move
