Hey everybody! I'm back! :)
It's amazing how quickly this stuff disappears from the short term memory lol

Hey Rich. Do you still have your dads 'shop class projects'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm

No, but he might! I should ask!

I mean, I once looked into my parent's junk drawer once and they still had the (wired) remote control for our first ever VCR and it had been gone for decades.

Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Doug, thanks for everything!

Franco Twinkie:

Rich, long time ago I was 'escorted' to a police station in Flagstaff to pay a speeding ticket. Inside by the front desk they had a display case of some of the more spectacular stuff they had confiscated. Among the prize booty were several zip guns and a hand grenade.

TDK60:

I still have an old phone answering machine with the tiny tapes, from about 1998 if I recall. I don't use it but there it is, up there in my closet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
Webhamster Henry:

I live in a storeroom of busted and outdated devices.
Avatar 7:18pm
TDK60:

This sounds like a journey of some sort.

Rich in Washington:

I wish I still had my 90s answering machine tapes. I made some real silly ones. I figure if anyone knew me, they'd play along - if someone hung up, I probably didn't need to hear from them.

Rich in Washington:

Usually some soundbite or bit of dialog from a movie, then me saying 'leave a message'. My favorite one was the Brian O'Blivion monologue from Videodrome. Once I was seeing a shrink and he had to call to confirm a cancellation and all he left for a message was him laughing.
Avatar 7:41pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Of course, O'Blivion isn't my real name. Soon, all of us will have special names: Names designed to cause the cathode ray tube to resonate.

Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Kenzo!

I would hook up my answering machine to my receiver, and play cuttups, mr. rogers and reading rainbow...etc
Avatar 7:50pm
northguineahills:

@TDK: the name of the album is viaje, so, you are basically correct....
Avatar 7:51pm
TDK60:

... 'viaje' means voyage in Spanish. of course, pero, donde estamos?
Avatar 7:54pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

I have almost all my answering machine incoming tapes - which I never rewound to recycle. They make for an interesting audio biography!
You all know about these outgoing ones because I post about them frequently.

this sounds nearly exactly how a heater fan in a car i had sounded (the squeaky part) -when it was warmed up a bit.
before it was warmed up it sounded more like people screaming.

i have (as far as i know) all my incoming answering machine tapes. i have used some in sound pieces but not nearly enough; and some of the best ones remain ideas in my head.
