NGH! Cmurtha! Hiya, hiya!

Heard Hemingways quartet with Clusone Trio at Victo '98. They took the stage at the same time.
Avatar 1:59pm
Tony Coulter:

On purpose?

Yes. Each ensemble played alone, and then they came together to blow the roof off the venue.

A friend of mine in high school went on to study with Halsey Stevens when he was at USC.
Avatar 2:21pm
Tony Coulter:

I've got his book on Bartok somewhere -- can't say I ever read it, though.

Wikipedia reports he retired from USC in '76, which would have been too early for my friend to study with him, but of course "retire" doesn't always mean "retire."
