Nice start this morning Joe

This is the horniest intro (sans Barry White) that I’ve ever heard

You must love a torch song don't ya Joe?
Chet.... that reed like, haunting voice.
Slay me.

The end of summer and the coming frost
the thinning trees and a hint of bare branches.
the close of the regular baseball season and the inevitable collapse of the Mets.
Oh Autumn,
you are the season of loss.

Dope Keely Smith cut.

Good morning Joe! Thank you for this music! ❤️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am

Nice set. Love Bewitched.
Mike Wolf:

Yeah, thanks for that Keely song Joe. I was lucky to see her with Sam Butera (Louis and Keely’s old saxist) in Vegas in 1994, then got the chance to interview her in the early 2000s for Time Out — she was so generous with the stories and (as far as I could tell) did not sugarcoat any of it. Great woman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am

early autumn! (90 degrees in greater Jersey City today -- ack!)
Avatar 9:32am

Oh, no. Things don't slow. They become frenetic. I mean, cold weather's coming!
Mike Wolf:

Joe, whose version of “Early Autumn” is this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am

@steveo that makes me feel better about the 85 degrees here in Maine. I don't mind it except for the fact that I already tossed my window fan because it was broken in a way that made it impossible to dissemble and clean.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 9:34am

Autumn makes me want to hear the Misfits covering Doris Day. Joy Division covering Doris Day is also acceptable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am
The Oscar:

Mornin'! Back in my record store days we had to make handwritten placeholder cards for sealed CDs to put in the racks, and it became a game to quickly and accurately recreate the album covers on post-its. My two favorite people to draw were Chet Baker and Hank Williams; both had sharp features and beady eyes that were immensely satisfying.

@Andrea: Right? It just seems like time needs to SLOW DOWN.

I agree Joe. I am happy to live in a four seasons locale, but no other season takes the edge off and says cool like fall. Autumn. The other climate change. Ask for it by name.

Oh hey, also I had a nice moment listening to a (very good) Bethany archive over the weekend. That Terry Riley piece was on and thought it reminded me of some Who song and I checked the comment board and there you were mentioning Baba O'Riley, "but of course" and I was like haha me too.

Enjoying the idea of a crisp autumn morning here on the south coast of nowhere. I missed hearing the artist/title of the instrumental interlude between Doris and Lee as I was preparing my morning coffee...Thanks for the lovely sounds

@Brendan: I think you've hit on some DNA there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am

And then there was this comment made by some reader named "Stu", saying that he liked what he was listening to but he got the feeling from the song that it was in the 70's and was "a little too "lonely" for today, although of course I was wrong. But I figured Stu was probably older than a lot of me and is like me, so I thought it was time to revisit Baba and I'm just going to give it a whirl. In any case, now you guys know why I like it so much.

"His early playing career was with the Hawaiian Serenaders in 1959, for whom he played a triple neck Fender lap steel guitar. He converted this to a pedal steel by adding an accelerator pedal from a tractor connected with bicycle brake cable."
