I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Happy Saturday, all :)

Hello Vertigo-go and Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Mayuko and all! Swimming through editing but happy for this audio lighthouse to indicate where the shore is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm chresti:

Autumn is almost here, I'm stoked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm redkayak:

Moomins! What are Moomins?
  12:03pm Alessandro from Italy:

Hello from Milan, dear 真由子
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm redkayak:

@chresti - I'm with you, autumn is my favorite season....
  12:04pm JosephB:

Hello Mayuko and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm chresti:

Is that image the Moonmins?
Avatar 12:05pm fred:

One of my bosses has a Moomins mug (he lived in Finland for a while)
Avatar 12:08pm coelacanth∅:

Good afternoon Mayuko and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm chresti:

I was reading a list of "ways to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox" on WikiHow, one of the suggestions was to stay up all night
Avatar 12:11pm coelacanth∅:

was that supposed to end abruptly or are we hearing the drummer stream now?
Avatar 12:11pm coelacanth∅:

oh i see!
Avatar 12:12pm Mayuko:

Hi my radio family fred, happy saturday to you too, redkayak! Welcome, chresti, it is indeed from Moomins!
Audio lighthouse is appropriate since Moomin family have lived in a lighthouse!!
Avatar 12:12pm Mayuko:

Thank you for tuning in, Alessandro, and Joe B, and coel!!!
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

Yes it was me who is supposedly a professional radio DJ but forgot that track was going to end abruptly.
Avatar 12:15pm coelacanth∅:

haha ...well if the track ends like that then it was actually a good segue!
Avatar 12:17pm Mayuko:

@redkayak It's a series of books and a comic strip by Finnish artist Tove Jansson. Moomin family are fairy like creatures live in Moominvalley.
Avatar 12:23pm Mayuko:

@chresti Yeah, that image is botanical researcher Mr. Hemulen surrounded by Hattifatteners, a scene from Moomin TV series. I was just revisiting this episode this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm redkayak:

@Mayuko - - Thanks! I will have to look them up. Love the music!
  12:26pm Rickwaukee:

@Mayuko can't wait for your announcing this track - HAW!
  12:31pm Rickwaukee:

wow, Ande is really feeling it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm chresti:

Yeah, he's frying his yoik
  12:32pm Rickwaukee:

and we all know how painful that can be
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mayuko and 'mins. I wonder how familiar Dan Bodah is with Ánde Somby.
  12:34pm Rickwaukee:

Unrequited love is my guess
Avatar 12:34pm coelacanth∅:

Daniel Blumin played this Ande Somby song a while back; you could just play the archive of him saying it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm chresti:

Hearts & Livers
Avatar 12:38pm Mayuko:

It is very challenging day in terms of pronunciation. Going back in Daniel's archive is a good idea. Even better, Ande made a guest appearance on his show, I believe when that album came out so 2016. Most accurate to hear the pronunciation by Ande himself!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:41pm Mayuko:

Hi Ken!!! Thanks for tuning in!
Avatar 12:41pm coelacanth∅:

'twould be best but you may have to listen to the whole interview and even then he may not mention that track
Avatar 12:41pm fred:

Mary Lattimore toured Europe recently. But didn't stop in Paris, sadly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm listener james from westwood:

Thought that might've been ML!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm listener james from westwood:

Howwwww is 69 Love Songs 20 years old already? It just came out, it feels like!
Avatar 12:50pm fred:

It works fine
Avatar 12:50pm Martinibomb:

Hello Mayuko
  12:56pm Rickwaukee:

I Am Moomin, hear me Roar
Avatar 12:57pm coelacanth∅:

i think that's what happened to Roy Orbison.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm chresti:

hmmm... Finland in December, Brrr!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm listener james from westwood:

Ewige Blumin-kraft!
Avatar 1:06pm fred:

Avatar 1:07pm Mayuko:

My favorite
Mic breaks
Avatar 1:09pm coelacanth∅:

Mayuko the last track before your mic break wasn't entered on the playlist. (only mentioning it because i liked it and would like to know how to spell it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Ivan:

I heard many Japanese visitors to Canada want to go to Anne of Green Gables house, I think it might have been required reading in school there. Great show btw I think I need to start watching some moomin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Mayuko and all playverts!
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

Hallos, my radio family Sem!

Dave in VT: Mayuko's Moomin Mic break about Magic?
Avatar 1:18pm Mayuko:

Thanks coelcanth!!! I managed to add that song!
Avatar 1:25pm Mayuko:

@Ivan Yeah, Green Gables! I only read books but think it was the anime series (it's always anime) that made it hugely popular. Isao Takahata from studio ghibli directed that.

& Thanks for listening!!!
Avatar 1:25pm Mayuko:

Doug!!!!! Welcome!!!!!!!
Avatar 1:36pm fred:

For some reason this reminds me that I saw a great dance show this week, with a specially commissioned soundtrack by Charlemagne Palestine (it used bell sounds)
Avatar 1:38pm Mayuko:

People danced to big bells? That sounds like a great idea.
Avatar 1:45pm fred:

There was a big bell on the stage, raised then lowered during the show. It was quite minimalist and abstract/geometric, but also very physical and immediate. I loved it, but it's clearly not for everyone (the audience was clearly not as much into it as I was)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm chresti:

Mouse on Mars, on my daily playlist for years...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm chresti:

Sounds nice and dramatic @fred
Avatar 1:51pm Mayuko:

I think they need to do a participatory bell dance time before watching the performance. So that people can feel it for themselves how it feels to feel that physical resonance in their bellies, like they are becoming bells themselves moving their bodies along with it. I guess I am just saying I wanna join things like that!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm fleep:

Greetings with bells on!
Avatar 1:53pm coelacanth∅:

don't know why it took this long to dawn on me but isn't there a listener on the comments boards sometimes called "dances with moomins"?
Avatar 1:56pm fred:

In case she ever comes your way, the choreographer is Maud Blandel
@coel: yes there is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm doctorjazz:

Goo. Been here, but no time to post. Thanks, Mayuko!
  1:57pm JosephB:

Thanks again Mayuko! Going to have to check out some Moomin over the weekend...
Avatar 1:57pm fred:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm chresti:

Thanks Mayuko! What's that word Mayuko?
Avatar 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

first thing i think about when i think about finland is very dark death metal. now i'll think about moomins too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm chresti:

For the ghostly figure you were talking about?
Avatar 2:00pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mayuko! Brilliant as always!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm chresti:

Ah thanks!
Avatar 2:02pm coelacanth∅:

Mayuko that listener i mentioned has a picture on his (?) profile page that might be the story you mentioned about a mommin looking like a human
Avatar 2:03pm Mayuko:

Sorry about the sudden Groke Talk out of blue, haha! Thanks again everyone for listening and commenting! See you next week!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 2:03pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 2:06pm Mayuko:

@coel You too!!!
  8:47pm mmzzmmm:

Hey Mayu, I found Finland was the most expensive country in Baltic country. Just 2 cents. btw, Helsinki has community saunas that you shouldn't miss. Helsinki was pretty hip city.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Mayuko! I was my niece's wedding all day, but if you ever get back to Moomin music, you have to play the Mika Pohjola/Johanna Grüssner Moomin Voices Songs (available in Swedish and Finnish).
  12:03pm Marie:

Hi Mayuko, I just finished "The Summer Book" by Tove Jansson and loved it. I had never heard of the moomins until I saw them mentioned-- Great show, thanks!
