Might run over a minute or two, Bill. Trust me, I will flog my unpaid intern over this.
Avatar 11:47am Bill Mac:

No worries Doug. I may run under a minute or two. It always works out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Studio B! That means Zzzzzzero Hour should be at least 15% better!
Avatar 12:05pm Brian in UK:

Hey Bill. Electric Landlady?

Hiya, Bill, fellow travelers, all.
Avatar 12:07pm Bill Mac:

Hey folks.... I pressed a button and you all popped up
Avatar 12:10pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Bill & Zzzzzzero people
Avatar 12:11pm Brian in UK:

Bill, this what I had in mind when you mentioned Larry Wallis.
  12:13pm rw:

Three Live DJ buttons to choose from this morning, but my allegiances are here. Good morning!
Avatar 12:14pm Bill Mac:

Hey CC!
@Brian do you know anything about Gravitar? I know he had some affiliation with Stiff records But I don't know whether he was a performer or producer at the time
Avatar 12:15pm Bill Mac:

Hey rw! Yeah, and it helps to have Mr Schulkind as a lead-in
Avatar 12:18pm Brian in UK:

Bill, not really but it might be a French connection.
  12:19pm rw:

Bill, I wasn't going to mention that, but yeah... Looking forward to catching most of the Zzzzzzeroes this morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm chresti:

Hi zzzzinky hour and Bill!
Avatar 12:23pm Bill Mac:

Heyo Chresti! Que tal?
  12:23pm rw:

Ween was on Shimmydisk? I missed out on an entire decade. Not sure what I was doing.
Avatar 12:24pm Franco Twinkie:

Ha! You're the substitute teacher today? I feel compelled to misbehave and make you question your career choice.
Avatar 12:24pm Bill Mac:

One album. It was where I met them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm chresti:

I still have some ZZZs in my brain @9:21 am
Avatar 12:25pm Bill Mac:

@FT I'm now flashing back on on subs that I abused. Karma is a birch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Parq:

I'm changing the name of my next album to "Flogging My Unpaid Intern".

Avatar 12:28pm Bill Mac:

Doug dropped a few pearls of wisdom on chat this morning
Avatar 12:29pm Looms:

Hello Bill & Zzzzzzheroes! It's been such a while...
Happy to be here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Parq:

Of course, when Bill loaded the comments, Doug's remark was lost in the shuffle, leaving my post a complete non sequitur. Oh well.
Avatar 12:29pm Brian in UK:

@Parq who do you think you are, Vivienne Westwood?
Avatar 12:30pm Sem:

.Better than "Flogging My Unpaid Dummy." @Parq.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Parq:

Brian, you realize I had to google Vivienne Westwood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm chresti:

I missed Doug due to excessive ZZZs this morning
Avatar 12:34pm Sem:

Didn't Oscar Wilde have a son named Vyvyienne?
Avatar 12:35pm Brian in UK:

Parq, I do now.

LOOMS, how are you doing? Long time.
  12:37pm rw:

I had to look up V. Westwood too. Weird that fashion is suddenly mildly interesting to me. I guess it's the times we're living in. Not sure I like it.
Avatar 12:37pm Brian in UK:

Sem, REALLY. He is not as other men.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Stanley:

Hi Bill. What a nice surprise.
Your question to Brian reminded me of this:
it's 1976 and we're back after the hols for the last year at Grammar School and there's this kid in our class causing a storm in morning assembly.
Never forget his name - Chris Jezitis. There he was - skinny trousers, bootlace tie, ripped jacket, Doc Marten boots and spikey hair, surrounded by a sea of drab long haired boys and all eyes are on him.
The fucker had spent the summer stuffing records into sleeves at Stiff in Soho, London.
He could be your Gravitar.
Avatar 12:41pm Bill Mac:

Interesting tie in there... I'm glad someone has a possible tie in to the Larry. According to the Wiki he's tied into a number of very interesting characters from that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm chresti:

I didn't know Pettibon made a record
  12:49pm frenchee:

Billlllll ZEEEEEE, this is so vintage 1980. in other words, I love it.
Avatar 12:49pm Bill Mac:

Surprised me too. They got new additional shelving downstairs in the library so hidden vinyls gems are revealing themselves now... That one caught my eye.
  12:50pm frenchee:

uh, I meant Bill MAAAAAAC, ZEEEEEEERRROOO hour of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Stanley:

Many of the early acts on Stiff weren't 'punk' at all - Larry Wallis, Nick Lowe, Wreckless Eric, Costello, Dave Edmunds, to name but a few. Things changed when The Damned were signed.
Avatar 12:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Raymond Pettibon is such an odd and funny guy, I would see him at some event looking like he ran all the way from home - sweaty and disheveled with a bottle of water stuffed in his front pocket. A compelling artist as well as a true contrarian.
Avatar 12:53pm Brian in UK:

From Pub Rock to Punk.
Avatar 12:53pm Looms:

Brian, I'm doing pretty good. I hope you do too and even better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Stanley:

Good ol' Pub Rock
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Stanley:

Brian - I think there's a themed show for someone with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Pedro in Arlington:

Sorry I'm late. I have a note.
Avatar 12:57pm Bill Mac:

It's Pedro!
Avatar 1:06pm coelacanth∅:

(pronounced as sun)
Avatar 1:07pm coelacanth∅:

it's not supposed to be letters but a picture of the sun?
they got the name from the sunn amplifier logo
Avatar 1:09pm Brian in UK:

Stanley, I had Howard 350 out this week to do me some rotavating. Surprised me that it started.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Stanley:

Heading over to Glasgow for Sunn O))) next month.
I loves me a bit of Industrial Nosebleed
Avatar 1:10pm Bill Mac:

O'Malley seems to have his hand in a number of interesting projects... wasn't he involved with the last Scott walker album?
Avatar 1:11pm Sem:

No doubt due to some motivatin'...
The Howard 350, like the Vincent Black Shadow of home gardening?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Stanley:

That Howard 350 will never let you down, so long as you pay it due repect.
Avatar 1:12pm Bill Mac:

Sigh, I miss the gardening humor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Jeff Golick:

The jokes are old but also manure.
Avatar 1:14pm coelacanth∅:

Stanley all those stiff records artists were marketed as punk over here right from the start.
it was punk just because of the image they copped, or that was projected onto them. even squeeze was called punk rock at first! and Joe Jackson. and Graham Parker.
it sounded different to me at the time too, i guess because it wasn't as highly polished as what we'd gotten used to by the mid-70s.
Avatar 1:14pm Sem:

They're not mulch but it's all we have.
Avatar 1:16pm coelacanth∅:

yes more gardening puns! of course some aren't great but we can weed those out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Stanley:

That's the thing, coelacanth∅, I see punk more as a time rather than a music. The overturning of the old music order.
Avatar 1:17pm coelacanth∅:

that's a good way to put it Stanley.
Avatar 1:17pm Brian in UK:

Hoe, hoe, hoe.
Avatar 1:18pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 1:18pm Bill Mac:

No - hoe, hoe
Avatar 1:18pm coelacanth∅:

uh, i mean.....no that's right...?
Avatar 1:19pm Sem:

Weeding has taken on a whole new meaning since Legalization here a year ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm chresti:

I've been enjoying this show very mulch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Jeff Golick:

I'm gonna hedge my bets and plot my escape... (Hey, Bill!)
Avatar 1:20pm Bill Mac:

Music AND comedy.... thanks again Jeff!
Avatar 1:22pm coelacanth∅:

Jeff it's good to plant ahead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Stanley:

Yay Pink Fairies.
Good one Larry.
Avatar 1:24pm Sem:

...especially when it's a head full of ideas driving you insane.
Avatar 1:26pm coelacanth∅:

(i've got one of those)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Stanley:

Nice though all this is, I'm due down the pub.
Winklepickers on, 'phones on and laters, all.
Avatar 1:27pm coelacanth∅:

holy shit speaking of stiffs records (and motörhead) Larry Wallis died yesterday
Avatar 1:27pm Bill Mac:

Stanley, great seeing you!
Avatar 1:28pm Bill Mac:

That's why the Pink Fairies tune
Avatar 1:29pm coelacanth∅:

i hadn't heard. (and i didn't know he was in pink fairies)
Avatar 1:29pm Looms:

We have to leave.
Indian food and a supposed to be great SF movie with BP is the plan for this evening.
Thanks for the great music, Bill! As always :-)
Peace on Earth!
Avatar 1:30pm Brian in UK:

Stanley, take it steady.

Sem, we have so many William pears compared to the handful last year. Tend to be on the small side, bigger on quantity than quality.
Avatar 1:31pm Brian in UK:

Looms 'see' you soon. Enjoy the film.
Avatar 1:32pm Sem:

Have not heard how our Pears in a Bottle fared...what w/ Hurricane Dorion blowing through two Saturdays ago.

Did you not do some pear tree pruning last year?
Avatar 1:32pm coelacanth∅:

take care Stanley, and Looms
Avatar 1:32pm Bill Mac:

See you Looms don't be a stranger!
Avatar 1:34pm Brian in UK:

Sem, I did prune but due to the way they were chasing the light from the overhanging trees it was not radical. Funny, the Bramley apple was prolific last year, minimal this year.
Avatar 1:35pm Franco Twinkie:

My favorite Stiff Record: You Got To Loose by Richard Hell. A good philosophy and operating manual to navigate through life.
Avatar 1:36pm coelacanth∅:

my sister's peach tree (that i take care of) has finally produced peaches that are ripening -and a zillion of 'em! (for a <5-year-old tree, < 8' tall) the squirrels haven't touched them.
maybe my strategy of putting dog hair under it is working.
Avatar 1:36pm V Priceless:

Heya Bill! 'zup? Fish!
Avatar 1:37pm Sem:

Hmmm, hair of the dog...might be onto something there, coel.
Avatar 1:37pm coelacanth∅:

hey Veep!
Avatar 1:39pm Franco Twinkie:

Peaches! My passion. What kind - Last Chance?
Avatar 1:39pm Brian in UK:

S'funny how some trees mainly apple can be alternating years in producing volume.
Would like to produce some Perry but not got the equipment or the volume of pears.
Avatar 1:40pm Brian in UK:

Is a nectarine a bald peach?
Avatar 1:43pm Franco Twinkie:

No, a close cousin. but a stone fruit with it's own distinct personality.
Avatar 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i don't know, i guess i should try to find out; but i'd bet my sister doesn't remember what she bought.
they're a little smaller than the average commercial variety.
Avatar 1:46pm Franco Twinkie:

Hmm. I'm sure you have types that are specific to your part of the country.
Avatar 1:47pm coelacanth∅:

yeah if i had to pick a favorite fruit peaches would at least be tied for first place.
(blueberries, lemons...)
Avatar 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

right,Franco but the name you suggested makes sense here, considering that they're just ripening now and the ones where i live, only 75 miles north(west) of her, were done by late july.
Avatar 1:49pm Brian in UK:

For some strange reason, Drachen Theaker came to mind the other day.
Avatar 1:50pm Franco Twinkie:

We're still rocking the O'Henry's for a week or so. Then the Fair Time, which has a mild flavor, almost bland, and a light yellow flesh.
Avatar 1:51pm Bill Mac:

Wasn't Carl Palmer in a later version of Crazy World of Arthur Brown?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Parq:

"Make the Cowboy Robots Cry" is my new favorite album name.
Avatar 1:55pm Brian in UK:

Bill, they all mash together nowadays.
Avatar 1:57pm Bill Mac:

Drachen Theaker stayed for the 1st album, Palmer came in after he bailed on the tour - Palmer became a permanent member .... who needs a brain, I got the internet
Avatar 2:02pm Brian in UK:

Bill, Theaker also played on a handfull of tracks on Love's Four Sail.

Avatar 2:19pm V Priceless:

@ Bill - Arthur Brown was actually doing double duty on his recent tour, taking time from his own gig to go and sing with Carl Palmer's Legacy band at a nearby gig!

alright Bill
Avatar 2:21pm Brian in UK:

Grilling mackeral for our anniversay dinner. going out to the pictures and dinner tomorrow.

Avatar 2:27pm V Priceless:

@ Bill - no! I must! Actually been pretty heavy into Rosalie Cunningham's new solo record as of late - great proggy, sabbathy, psychedelic stuff! Do you know her? Used to be in a band called Purson (UK)

Avatar 2:30pm Sem:

Stampfel explained the origin of the name:

We kept changing the name. First it was the Total Quintessence Stomach Pumpers. Then the Temporal Worth High Steppers. Then The Motherfucker Creek Babyrapers. That was just a joke name. He was Rinky-Dink Steve the Tin Horn and I was Fast Lightning Cumquat. He was Teddy Boy Forever and I was Wild Blue Yonder. It kept changing names. Then it was the Total Modal Rounders. Then when we were stoned on pot and someone else, Steve Close maybe, said Holy Modal Rounders by mistake. We kept putting out different names and wait until someone starts calling us that then. When we got to Holy Modal Rounders, everyone decided by accumulation [sic] that we were the Holy Modal Rounders. That's the practical way to get named.

Avatar 2:31pm Franco Twinkie:

Dr. Demento or something!?! It was no place else but.
  2:33pm Dean:

It absolutely was Dr. Demento. That's when I ran out and bought my copy of the 7".
Avatar 2:34pm Franco Twinkie:

You bet. We all have a giant dept. to Barry Hansen.
Avatar 2:37pm Sem:

Yodelling hitting the spot this pm.
Avatar 2:39pm Bill Mac:

Fast becoming one of my go to songs
Avatar 2:40pm Franco Twinkie:

The original show was on KPPC in Pasadena. Barry was a guest on The Obsene Steven Clean show, who was another legendary nut case on the right side of the tuner.
Avatar 2:42pm Bill Mac:

Is there any proof of the Obsene Steven Clean show out in internets land?
  2:43pm Dean:

KPCC also devoted an hour to an Ian Whitcomb show, which prompted me to give money to the station. Then they canceled the show.
Avatar 2:46pm Franco Twinkie:

I found an air check at the flea market. This guy named Terry has tons of the most amazing shit. I think that's where Tarintino found the KHJ stuff he used in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Avatar 2:49pm Franco Twinkie:

Dean, That was a different station. KPPC, not KPCC. I'ts an understandable mistake, but worlds apart.
  2:49pm Dean:

Oh, wow. Except for the fact that they were both broadcasting from Pasadena, KPCC and KPPC are unrelated.
Avatar 2:50pm Brian in UK:

Bill, lovely to hear your voice on the raydio. Next show is good timing for us over here in Brexit La La Land.
Avatar 2:52pm Bill Mac:

Glad you guys are here... Brexit... when's turnover day?
