Franco Twinkie:

I saw Ornette Coleman & Prime time years ago at the Westwood Playhouse. The stage was dressed as a suburban living room with hot sitcom lighting. Ornette was flanked by symmetrical rhythm sections with him blasting away in the middle.

Franco Twinkie:

Wait! before I get into it, a bit about my mom & me during better times: I went to the federal building, also in Westwood to get a passport. My documentation was not exactly ship shape, so they told me to come back with my high school year book and my MOM! The day me & my mom went back, Snoop Dog was at next window taking the oath. My mom didn't know who he was so I said "watch this." Ignoring protocol and been down right rude, I said " Hey Snoop, gonna do a little bit of traveling?" Without missing a beat he says - Yeeeeah. After that, my mom would see him on T.V. and then report to me she saw "that Snoopy Dog" talking to whoever. This went on for years.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm

is "oops" an almost universal expression? used in most languages and cultures and meaning basically the same things?
Avatar 9:13pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

except in cultures where they don't make mistakes
  9:15pm
Dean:

OED is uncertain, but suggests it's perhaps a shortened "upsadaisy" or "whoopsie." But it also acknowledges it could be an imitative or expressive formation. OED declares "ouch," for example, "ultimately imitative." Add that to the band name short list.
  9:17pm

Mmmm... can't get enough of that busy horn blowing!!!

James Joyce in Ulysses: "Hoopsa! Don't fall upstairs."

And "Leaning Toward Whoopsie" is a candidate title for the Great American Novel.

I'm confused. LTW is the title of CHNR...or CHNR is the title of the GAN?
Avatar 9:24pm

"oof" sounds to me like when your galoshes get old and loose, and you stumble on the rug.

What a brilliant summer of Tuesday evening radio from Mr. Gottschalk! But if you thought you've heard the last of the Minotaur, oh ho ho, are you sadly mistaken.

Miniature Minotaurs will be filling in for Bodega Pop Live on here on the Drummer Stream on consecutive Wednesday evenings, October 2 and 9 (both 7-10pm). Thanks, Kurt!!

i think of OOF as when you have to pick up your drunk friend off the bathroom floor and he/she's heavier than you thought.
OOPS more like oh i meant to tell you that that toaster will fling your english muffin to the ceiling but i forgot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm
chresti:

hahaha
  9:36pm
Dean:

I love OED. Here on "oof": Representing the sound made when expelling breath loudly through the mouth, and hence expressing various emotions conveyed by this action, such as alarm, annoyance, wonder, relief, resignation, etc.
  9:36pm

Great dBs record/track!
