Hi Fries!
Avatar 7:04pm Third World Man:

for a guy that is so "open minded" he sure does not tolerate contrarian opinions
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm dale:

like this - 1930s? 40s?

free form radio does not necessarily mean free speech.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm chresti:

Ah, I see
  7:29pm JakeGould:

Anyway, I think we need two respect this great interview. Ian has clearly done an amazing job archiving and researching this (pretty much) lost history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm chresti:

Agree!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm dale:

shellac is not rock. shellac can be dissolved quite easily.
Avatar 7:48pm Third World Man:

shellac is soft and brittle
  7:49pm JakeGould:

The Internet — like much of Western culture — is painfully Western even in the focus of when people branch out.
Avatar 7:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Gawd - the UMG fire.
Avatar 7:52pm Third World Man:

Internet was invented by westerners, so its likely to resemble western culture, although a totalitiarian bent has crept in.
  7:52pm Theo:

This is AWESOME!!!
  7:52pm JakeGould:

The UMG fire is dramatic and sad. But the story being told here is how history can easily be lost via neglect and ignorance. And I will even add America’s obsession with immigrants hiding their immigrant heritage leads to people who simply want to live discarding the past to be “normal” (aka: Western).

The positive side of the digital world is it’s opened up the doors for people to do their own DIY archiving without having to find a label or get an LP pressed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm listener 126464:

Enjoying much, thanks Dan and Ian.
  7:54pm JakeGould:

Thanks Dan and Ian.
Avatar 7:56pm Third World Man:

I agree. I have the 2/3 of the Grateful Dead's output on two hard drives. so if Rhino lost the masters, the history of the dead lies on many hard drives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm chresti:

Thanks Dan and Ian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Richard S:

Thanks to you both!
