A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I kind of cheated with 7SD last night. Was on the phone with customer support, so the radio was on really low volume. The support issue is now resolved, so good.

Random ? For any artist/lefty “historians” on the board.
Is anyone familiar with the Gate Hill Coop started in the 50’s in Stony point? Or an artist named Vera Williams who helped start it?
Supposedly had a relationship to a Christian commune in Glen Gardner, NJ.
Guess a lot of folks that passed thru the Black Mountain School were active there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Phillippe Bastille:

I turned off 7SD after about 5 minutes as well. Too bad I didn't do it after 7 seconds. If the goal was to be annoying instead of funny, they succeeded. Wound up over at WPRB for hours
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am strangegait:

Morning all! Fun times ahead!
  9:57am prudy:

the name Vera Williams is familiar to me...wracking my brain trying to remember...was she a painter or illustrator of kids books, also a feminist...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Vanessa bikes:

What is all this talk of 7SD? I want to know where the painting is? I am very sad about it.
Avatar 9:58am Chris from DC:

I somehow missed this Pastels version previously. Great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am MD:

Optic Nerve??? maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Phillippe Bastille:

@Vanessa bikes They did the same 30 second shtick over and over again. Give the archive a listen after you put away any sharp objects and firearms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Vanessa bikes:

No, I heard it, but it is over and it's Trouble's show, doesn't belong here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Aaron Working In Newark:

Im at 165 Halsey Street.. i am going to go check it out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am The Oscar:

Caught the last 15-20 minutes of 7SD last night. Going back and reading the comments is probably the best part!
  10:06am kevlicki:

prudy, Vera Williams was an illustrator, May have usd other mediums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Passaic River Blues:

@Aaron: that sounds too good to pass up--you don't even have to leave the building!
  10:12am yippie:

do they still have all those loud speakers on Halsey street yelling about pawn shops and buying gold and politicians?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Passaic River Blues:

@Yippie: not all the time but often. That's usually lower down, south of Market near Halsey and Branford.
  10:16am yippie:

yeah I haven't been back in more than a few years since millers bars closed down a couple blocks over
Avatar 10:18am Trouble:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Threemoons:

Avatar 10:24am Dominick:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am melinda:

I have an old mix tape with an instrumental version of Speeding Motorcycle that the Pastels cover reminded me of, but the friend who made the tape didn't list the artist. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Ken From Hyde Park:

Threemoons, if you could fill out your TPS report before you go, that would be great.
Avatar 10:27am Trouble:

yes melinda, i think its the final song on the ep, but it is mislabeled of sorts. does it never really break into the refrain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am melinda:

@Trouble not sure. I wouldn't recognize it as Speeding Motorcycle if it weren't labeled as such.
  10:33am John from Florham park:

Hello fellow troublemakers
  10:34am hugh:

can we possibly hear k mcccarty's cover of "rocket ship"? No big whoop. thanks for the choonz.

Trouble, I know you've worked on your Rhode Island accent....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am The Oscar:

IIRC, wasn't Bowie supposed to appear on the Daniel Johnston tribute album in the mid-2000s, but couldn't make it work in his schedule?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am melinda:

I like David Heatley, cool.

  11:15am peter in SEA:

oh, I missed the Keran Ann on the commute to work will listen in in archives!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am SSS:

@karen eliot - well karen, those of us that are aware of things understand that cats know everything. I believe that, when they are sitting around, almost seeming to be meditating, that it is an actual collective effort, done by agreement within the world cat population (telepathically arrived at of course) that keeps our human world within functional limits of operation. I think it has been proven that we cannot really handle it I think.
