Evening Creamo, London checking in. Greetings all Blastards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm TomDash:

Is this from the double live LP - bought it when it came out and bummed I lost it somewhere along the way -
  3:09pm John from Florham park:

Hello fellow spun age blaster fans
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm TomDash:

ahhh, it is NOT from that dbl live LP...lovely regardless! Here for the trip...
  3:10pm Rich in Washington:

I still have Double Live on cassette! I can't seem to part with it since I bought it at a Buttholes show.
Avatar 3:10pm Chris from DC:

More yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm ultradamno:

I've still got a cassette of it too.
Avatar 3:12pm thormagma:

Great day to have blown down in my car on lunch break.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm TomDash:

Rich - I'm pretty sure I bought my vinyl copy of double live at one of their shows too. But could be mistaken. And this is lovely...
  3:12pm Rich in Washington:

I used to have that Nothing Butt comp, but I think I stupidly sold or traded it off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm ultradamno:

Up there with Sonic Youth and DOA for non-local bands I saw the most times. It was the eighties, everybody was crazy for Buttholes.
Avatar 3:14pm Chris from DC:

I wish I could go back and see the Surfers in their prime. Never got the chance.
Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Manana:

Does one say "thanks much" for that double dose? Real Miss Manners situation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm TomDash:

wait, you're getting Sabbath for a live set on your show??? DAMN!
Avatar 3:18pm Creamo Coyl:

I only fuck with the greats. Ozzie owes me one. Long story. Involves prison, a suitcase full of what I can't say, and also the Alamo (which doesn't have a basement).
  3:19pm Rich in Washington:

was fortunate to have seen them a few times in the mid 80s. An utterly life-changing experience. Saw them a few times in the 90s and they seemed strangely lacking in vitality by comparison. Say no to just saying no(?).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

1st album recorded for nothin' in no time @ all.. .How I loves EarlySabbaths...
  3:20pm Rich in Washington:

Sabbath after Butthole Surfers seems strangely appropriate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm TomDash:

Yeah Butthole Surfers in the 80s achieved cult status for sure. Some of the more far out and intense shows I've ever seen. Never saw them in the 90s, but would have liked to see their reunion tour with original members (did that hit the States? or just Europe?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Note Smithereens song by same title. Influences made not always obvious!...
  3:23pm John from Florham park:

wow heavy show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Lovecraft - 'Beyond Wall of Sleep'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm DocBlueDog:

FIrst saw the Buttholes at the Cat Club in Manhattan in 85. Saw them dozens of times since all the way up through the last tour and then the last show at the Growler’s in Long Beach almost two years ago now.Def my second favorite band. Those live tracks came on just as I was getting in the shower for some prostate massage / healing. True story? TMI? Fuck it ... it’s the surfers. Cheers. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm ultradamno:

Two fliers from BS shows I went to, The Metro one was my first, from when they still played all the early hits twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm ultradamno:

Did Silver Jews ever cover this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DocBlueDog:

Sweet flyers....This Buokan Boys track has a sweet groove. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DocBlueDog:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm ultradamno:

Big Boys next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm sphere:

Avatar 3:38pm Chris from DC:

@ultra, sounds like a plan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm sphere:

wow, this Membranes sounds like they are back in the day! nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm David (in London):

Ah, my old friend Rob Haynes on drums here. Great guy, great player.
Avatar 3:55pm Chris from DC:

Digging Tiny Holes a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm ultradamno:

Had an interaction with Nick Blakey on Twitter yesterday, he drops a couple of trivia crumbs about Pere Ubu playing a junior high dance if you follow through the thread. twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm crateslinger:

Hey if any of you mid-westerners remember 11,000 Switches from Cincinnati in the 80's, they're playing a gig on October 19 at Murphy's Pub.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm sphere:

Wasn't the first Velvet Underground gig at a school?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm ultradamno:

@crate Is Heather Prescott still on board? I always got on well with her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm ultradamno:

11000 Switches live footage www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm crateslinger:

I'm pretty sure she is, but I cannot guarantee this.
Avatar 4:04pm thormagma:

Is this the gay kiss from AZ?
Avatar 4:06pm Creamo Coyl:

Avatar 4:07pm thormagma:

Hell yeah a homie of mine used to live with a few of the guys a few years back.
Avatar 4:07pm thormagma:

Also hell yeah more weaz!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm ultradamno:

Toy Killers...there is not enough documentation of this band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm sphere:

i think Weasel Walter reissued some Toy Killers.
Avatar 4:11pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

omigod you guys, you guys. you guys.
Avatar 4:11pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

also: hello.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm ultradamno:

@sphere According to this, "It was the first show the Velvets played for money" dangerousminds.net...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm sphere:

gotcha. thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm ultradamno:

Ah, but it claims to be unlistenable, dog frequencies? :D www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm sphere:

Weasel Walker has that kind of humor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm David (in London):

@ultradamno - Angus had already made his feelings on this topic very clear. hadn't he..? "I'm off."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm ultradamno:

Heh, heh. I love that he "didn’t want to be told when to show up and play"...like it should just happen when he's ready.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm ultradamno:

A week late for National Radio Day, but it's the thought that counts.
  4:35pm rw:

Afternoon! I just realized ROIR must stand for Rock in Opposition Records but then realized if that were the case it would be RIOR instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Rich in Washington:

It's funny that they were Reach Out International Records when they were only selling cassettes. I used to get their catalogs in the 80s and drool over the cool.
  4:38pm rw:

Mostly checking in to say hello and that I haven't had any actual realizations.

Oh! Reach Out Int'l Records. Thanks RiW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm ultradamno:

But many Rock In Opposition bands did come Recommended.
  4:42pm rw:

Dang. You guys are way too smart and clever. I'm getting a complex here. Nice one ultradamno!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm sphere:

I got a tape of Welsh dub reggae from ROIR (Llwbyr LLaethog).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm ultradamno:

I always like the Prince Far I one they put out, and that Brother D. & Silver Fox.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm sphere:

The ROIR MC5 collection was also good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm David (in London):

@sphere - I remember buying that MC5 ROIR cassette in Rough Trade in west London eons ago. I was so excited I could hardly speak. That 'noise' version of 'Looking at You' is still a highlight of rock music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Babes In Arms'
Avatar 4:59pm Creamo Coyl:

Fuck yeah it's got "Gold" on it, which is one of their best. And the alt versions of album material. Used to have that CD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm ultradamno:

So many good ones, that MC5 is definitely up there, Neubauten, Mekons, NY Dolls, 8 Eyed Spy, Suicide, Tetras, Branca, Lounge Lizards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm David (in London):

And five second on the Wayback Machine reveals... soundcloud.com...
Hell yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm TomDash:

The Dictators "Fuck 'Em If They Can't Take A Joke" live from 1981 is a ROIR fave too - first time I ever heard "Loyola"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm ultradamno:

Oh, and the NY Singles Scene, damn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm David (in London):

I gotta check out now. Great show tonight Creamo. Adios Blastards.
Avatar 5:09pm Creamo Coyl:

Cheers, thx fer lisseniinnnnn

'ave a good one
  5:20pm tmtealium:

What was the last track? I want to track it down to play on my show.
High Head?
Avatar 5:21pm Creamo Coyl:

Joe Posset/____ Ulyatt duo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm sphere:

gotta go and commute home. see you on the flip.
  5:24pm tmtealium:

cassette huh? Looks like it will be a while before I can play that.
Avatar 5:25pm Creamo Coyl:

It's on bandcamp too.
  5:25pm tmtealium:

thanks for the info
Avatar 5:25pm Creamo Coyl:

cheers, spheres.
  5:28pm tmtealium:

cassettes will outlast digital, when humans are gone the aliens won't know what to do with hard drives and CDs but they will understand analogue
  5:33pm Jane:

Is this A band from 70s -but releasedi n 97? With Paul McMahon, David Salle, Dan Graham, Barbara Kruger , Eric Fiscl and maybe Wharton Tiers?
Avatar 5:34pm Creamo Coyl:

No. It's a UK improv group w/ Richard Youngs and whoever else.
Avatar 5:34pm Creamo Coyl:

I did play a song from that single recently however.
Avatar 5:45pm Marshall Stacks:

"Musik dari Jalan" means "music from the street" or "street music," like you said. The "minyak" chant was a vendor selling cooking oil.
Avatar 5:50pm Creamo Coyl:

Very cool, thanks!
Avatar 5:50pm Creamo Coyl:

proto-Sublime Freqeuncies action there.
Avatar 5:51pm Marshall Stacks:

Yes indeed.

Great show!
