CannedHeat 'On The Road Again'
45 RPM - property of oldest sibling
one of earliest Musical / Cultural memories
...w/ rainbow on black label
- perfectly coincident w/ opening & closing scale of Mystic harmonics...
& incomprehensible forlorn & mysterious ancient Blues words on modal transporting trance tale of the ages...

Also Canned Heat in 'Monterey Pop' film every year on TV growing up - relentless going for it past all pretensions Blues...

Avatar 7:11pm Franco Twinkie:

I once took an informal survey of the musician I knew at one particularly loud show about hearing loss. One guy told me when he was in high school he stuck his head into a Larry Taylor's bass cabinet at the Whisky and things have never been the same since.
Avatar 7:12pm Bill Mac:

Scraps, hulloe!
Avatar 7:13pm geezerette:

Franco, sounds like a deleted scene from"Spinal Tap".
Avatar 7:15pm Franco Twinkie:

Geezer! Hot, or what?
Avatar 7:15pm geezerette:

Scraps! How ya doin?
Good to see you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Scraps:

i hate people (and there are lots of em) who play so loud that you can't discern the music. even apart from the hearing loss, why do that? just because you can? manly thing? grrrrr.
Avatar 7:17pm geezerette:

OMFG, you could cook carnitas on the sidewalk!

Ginger Baker Trio :
Ginger, Bill Frisell, Charlie Haden !

...Have never been able to interest anyone in this ...& never understood why... :

Avatar 7:18pm Franco Twinkie:

Scraps, That is the main reason I no longer go to many live shows. I'm trying to preserve what is left of my hearing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Sizzzzzzling out there, huh?
Avatar 7:20pm Bill Mac:

I'm watching the movie about him in pieces this week, In the opening scene he pops the interviewer in the nose with his cane.... draws blood
Avatar 7:20pm geezerette:

Ken, it's increasingly surreal.
How about Hyde Park?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm fleep:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's not too hot today (maybe 81° F), but it's kind of a monsoon week. Crazy thunderstorms that come and go.
Avatar 7:23pm geezerette:

Fleep, stay at the bottom where it's cooler. Maybe even add ice cubes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Scraps:

Franco Twinkie, when I was in new york, (the last time I went to many shows), I mostly went to jazz (and classical) shows because of that
Avatar 7:24pm Franco Twinkie:

RRR. I will watch it later. I like to figure out exactly what Ginger was doing to make him sound that way. Multiple time signatures for one.
Avatar 7:24pm geezerette:

Ken, thunderstorms sound very good to us right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...in that Trio video - you will note Charlie Haden far from the drums & electric gittar...hearing made him perform behind plexiglass...

Avatar 7:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Watch Gingers feet! He could set two counter ryhthms against each other on his kick drums like no one else. 1969 Blind Faith in Hyde Park he is wearing buccaneer boots. 2005 at The Albert Hall his feet are shod in sensible loafers.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ginger didn't have as much variation as Moon or Mitch Mitchell
- but he was interesting, himself, & had that stamina, yeah!
Watch that Ginger Trio link - & he's with total Jazzbos - lacking nothing.

Clive bunker wasn't no slouch!...eh???...
Avatar 7:48pm Bill Mac:

Yo Chas I didn't think so... nor Phil Collins
  7:48pm CC:

Oh yeah... that solo on Dharma for One at Carnegie Hall was really the bomb!
Avatar 7:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Bill, I saw Little Feat playing outside on afternoon when Roy was in the band. He was wearing striped slacks and a Mexican serape. I asked him if they would do Dog Breath, he was real nice but said that's another bands material. Just then, Richie Hayward jumps in front of us like a monkey falling out of a tree and says "We'll do it for one joint, man! You got one joint!?!" I did not have a joint.

Avatar 8:19pm Bill Mac:

Hey hey Parq!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm TheNewLexGofer:

Saw King Crimson (or whatever passed for them at the time) in Columbus. Belew was playing drums. But Levin kicked ass on the Stick.
  8:19pm V Priceless:

Love Mitch too!
  8:20pm Chuck:

oh yes VP!
  8:20pm V Priceless:

Fudge! These guys still rock! Whoa
Avatar 8:22pm Bill Mac:

@LexGofer Only time I saw Crimson was when they reformed in 96 or so. Still a 4 piece with Belew Bruford Levin n Fripp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm TheNewLexGofer:

@Bill Mac: Did Fripp actually play?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm doctorjazz:

Vanilla Fudge always had an interesting way with time...they didn't rock, or swing, they sort of plodded (in a good way...)
Avatar 8:26pm Bill Mac:

He's not a guitar humper that's for sure.
Avatar 8:28pm Franco Twinkie:

Doc, that's why they were also known as Vanilla Sludge.

  8:39pm Dean:

Hello, ms. geezerette and Mr. Mac!

Or should I say, mac 'n' geez?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm chresti:

I can't think of a drummer that I don't like
  8:41pm Dean:

Recently heard Endangered Blood at a tiny bar in the neighborhood. Speed, Noriega, Dunn, Black.
Avatar 8:41pm geezerette:

Hmmm, that sounds pretty good...comfort mood.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm TheNewLexGofer:

@Dean: WOW!!!
  8:44pm Dean:

Yeah, it was kinda shocking. They were spectacular. Same night at a house nearby David Murray played with Khalid El' Zabar. Not a bad decision to have to make.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm doctorjazz:

Cool sounding band, Dean! Seem then inn different combinations...like Speed on clarinet especially.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm doctorjazz:

Not a bad choice to have at all (think I would have gone with David Murray...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm TheNewLexGofer:

Trevor Dunn played in the Melvins, didn't he?
  8:48pm Dean:

I've seen Murray a number of times in various venues, Black (the real draw for me) never. It was a no-brainer, and having no brain I opted for it.

Yep, Melvins.
  8:49pm Dean:

The first Skirl Records release (to my knowledge; it's 001) is The Clarinets, featuring Speed, Noriega, and Anthony Burr. A curious record...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm TheNewLexGofer:

Talk about a rhythm section.... DAMN!
Avatar 8:50pm Bill Mac:

I believe the Melvins are out again starting next month
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm chresti:

In honor of drummers, I drum on the kitchen counter
  8:52pm Dean:

Who counts kitchens these days?
  8:53pm V Priceless:

That was the ‘Melvins Lite’ tour. He played upright bass. They played 50 states in like 52 days. Madness. Great madness.
Avatar 8:53pm coelacanth∅:

i drum on the bar it annoys some people but others like it

correction. It was 51 days.
  8:55pm Dean:

Upright bass at the bar, too, obviously.
Avatar 8:57pm still b/p:
