'mornin' folks - Happy Woodstock50!!!
Avatar 12:06am javakid:

Total Control is such a good band - don't have the album you are playing from but really like.
Avatar 12:11am Franco Twinkie:

True story: Right after Woodstock my parents bought a set of World Book encyclopedias. I asked the salesman if Woodstock would be in a future edition. This caused howls of laughter and much eye rolling. My parents never let me forget it. I haven't checked, but I'll bet it is now.
Avatar 12:12am Franco Twinkie:

This was a big record for me 40 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am TomDash:

Ha Franco...great story!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am diciassette:

oh my gosh everything sounds so good
Avatar 12:23am coelacanth∅:

Franco i'm sure it's in there now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am diciassette:

Total Control by the Motels? That would really impress me.
Avatar 12:32am coelacanth∅:

hey, you have pasta on your head!
just thought you might like to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am diciassette:

where is my pasta!
Avatar 12:34am coelacanth∅:

oh, my mistake. i haven't seen it.
Avatar 12:34am coelacanth∅:

now, where's my fork?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am diciassette:

dov'è la tua forchetta
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am diciassette:

Dark Entries is a bay area heroin of mine.
Avatar 12:44am coelacanth∅:

more food. and i can't find my fork.
hummus and pasta can be quite good.
  12:47am Carmichael:

Is this Ian Matthews? Excellent choice.
Avatar 12:47am coelacanth∅:

up here we refer to the town of woodstock (which of course rejected their town for the festival at the 11th hour, after it was all supposedly set)
as weirdstock.
...there *is* a reason!
Avatar 12:50am coelacanth∅:

agreeing with Carmichael. it's beautiful and i don't think i've ever heard it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am TomDash:

Yes Ian Matthews - I learned today that this song went to #1 in the UK
  12:51am Carmichael:

He’s a Fairport alumnus, so he had some street cred.
Avatar 12:52am Franco Twinkie:

Coel, boho weirdo or something more sinister?
Avatar 12:53am coelacanth∅:

pretty things every week!
Avatar 12:54am coelacanth∅:

...(oh, excuse me! that's a thing from another show. one of the rare other shows that i might hear the pretty things on)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Scraps:

hey h’lo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am diciassette:

ahoy scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am diciassette:

oh you pretty things
Avatar 12:59am coelacanth∅:

Franco no not sinister! just that woodstock is jammed with old poseurs who act like they're representin' when they're just colorful capitalists;and stores marketing their junk or their mediocre-at-best food with hippiehype to young tourists and college students from new paltz...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am Scraps:

h’lo diciassette cheers
Avatar 12:59am coelacanth∅:

hey Scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am Scraps:

coelacanthø cheers h’lo

holy shit. This is my uncle Frank's band.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am diciassette:

I could be wrong. But I also could not be wrong.
Avatar 1:05am coelacanth∅:

great song! never heard this version.
Avatar 1:05am coelacanth∅:

...and that tripsichord song is excellent as well. i hope it's your uncle's band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Scraps.:

Goddamn, that’s uncle ray and uncle dave !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am TomDash:

Hey folks, thanks for tuning in...some tech issues, so playing a little catch up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Ken From Hyde Park:

The article mentions Frank Straight on guitar: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 1:07am coelacanth∅:

hey Unca D whatcha doin' on the radio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am diciassette:

Uncle Frank!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am diciassette:

It's about time for a N. Young remix
  1:09am sufferwords:

wasn’t gonna smoke any weed tonight but you’re kinda forcing the issue here Tom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am Scraps.:

I wasn’t going to drop the brown acid but you’re forcing the issue, man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am diciassette:

pass the ___ on the ___ hand side, scraps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am TomDash:

Ha - let the journey take you where it wants to go, man...
Avatar 1:13am coelacanth∅:

hey you can take it with however many grains of salt you wish, but i heard the brown acid is not specifically too good.
but it's your trip.
Avatar 1:15am coelacanth∅:

so it says Uncle Frank moved to utah and was in another band called free spirit.
does that sound right? and was it a "spiritual" band?
Avatar 1:17am Franco Twinkie:

This set really captures the lost Saturday night augmented by some light blue tablets found in the pocket of a suede jacket left in the backseat of a 1962 Ford Falcon in Isla Vista.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am Fuzzy:

A toast to freedom in memory of Captain America!
Avatar 1:19am coelacanth∅:

this is like a wonderful cross between country joe and the fish and the velvet underground
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am diciassette:

Uncle Frank came from Manila, with (most of) the rest of my aunts and uncles on this one boat, which was called the "S.S. Hancock." They landed in Santa Maria and the rest is history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am diciassette:

"My Uncle was in a psychedelic Mormon band" (this never gets old)
Avatar 1:21am coelacanth∅:

Franco those blue ones never did a thing for me.
-maybe 'cuz they were 16 years old by the time they got to me.
Avatar 1:23am coelacanth∅:

i love psychedelic mormon music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am TomDash:

Went a little heavy on this set to clear the mind a bit! Glad you're digging it...next set will be searching for a little space....
Avatar 1:28am Franco Twinkie:

These kind of bands would play next to the merry-go-round in Griffith Park on Sunday afternoons in 1972.
  1:33am BH:

it sorta goes against the spirit of Hendrix's Woodstock contract to play Woodstock stuff and not play the Hendrix stuff last.
Avatar 1:36am coelacanth∅:

you could look at it another way, because it was held on a weekend and the dates only deviate by one day; so 50 years ago tonight, on (the nearest) saturday night, who was playing between 12mn and 3am?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am Scraps:

All of Crosby Stills Nash & Young are still alive. And Crosby is still an idiot asshole (haven’t met any of the others)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am TomDash:

BH - I didn't actually PLAY any Woodstock stuff...
Avatar 1:38am coelacanth∅:

(or, 50 years +/- 1 day)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am TomDash:

Coelacantho - I am going by actual dates - Aug 15-18 (it was Friday to Monday) - 50 yrs later, this week it falls Thursday thru Sunday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am TomDash:

...another fun fact, because stuff got so backed up Saturday night, The Who headlined at 5AM! They played all of Tommy plus a few tracks from 5-6AM! crazy...
Avatar 1:48am coelacanth∅:

i know. i'm saying that giving a 1 day allowance is another way to look at it because it's like -what are we doing on this saturday nigh; what were THEY doing on this saturday night?
(...probably is a more interesting distinction on monday morning though)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am TomDash:

ah - gotcha - sorry the music is making my mind all fuzzy and stuff...
Avatar 1:51am coelacanth∅:

this is fuzzmaking music.
  1:54am diciassette:

Does your Crosby look like this * ?
Avatar 1:55am Franco Twinkie:

According to the unimpeachable crap you read on the internet, The Who never forgave the Grateful Dead for not getting their stoned asses off the stage when they were supposed to, so The Who could go on at the reasonable time of 3AM! And with that, I'm going to bed. Thanks Tom, Coel and all you other history buffs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am TomDash:

Thanks for tunin' in Franco - glad you dug the tunes...
  1:58am diciassette:

Obviously I am only trying to help comme toujours
Avatar 2:02am coelacanth∅:

seems likely to me that the dead would've done that.
i doubt any members of the who will carry/carried that grudge to his grave though.
i hope not!
  2:14am BH:

I was kinda disappointed that they didn't try to do Woodstock 50 because it would be very authentic to have that be a logistical disaster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Scraps:

Love Etron Fou Leloublan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am TomDash:

BH - indeed!

Avatar 2:32am Hubig Pie:

I am a baby boomer and my Woodstock experience was watching Carol Burnett in my PJs in the living room. That generation lasted 25 years
  2:38am diciassette:

God bless Carol Burnett « You lock the orphans in the closet. They love it! »
Avatar 2:40am coelacanth∅:

i've got to sign off
Thanks Tom Great program!
good night hippies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am TomDash:

thanks as always coealcantho!
Avatar 2:50am Hubig Pie:

Hiippie dancing is dangerous, you could put someone's eye out with your elbow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am TomDash:

Thanks for tuning into the show, all you dirty Hippies! Really appreciate it. See ya next week!
