Got my medical card today and am theraputically celebrating. These tunes have been very good for my health so far.

there's nothing ethical about the us prison system or the judicial system for that matter. it's a big, malicious business, and a sadistic, fascist one.

Early to bed tonight (on the west coast); tomorrow I have to go to my familys for two of my siblings’ bdays. Whew.
  9:54pm andrewb:

The thing that got me hooked on fmu 5000 years ago was a dj playing a kiddie 45 off center and instructing listners to "crank it to the max"

Avatar 10:22pm javakid:

nice segue from Walker Brothers to Spiritualized
Avatar 10:23pm coelacanth∅:

i was completely unaware of Scott Walker and barely aware of the Walker brothers in the 70s.
in fact i didn't explore Scott Walker's discography until soused came out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm common:

Greatly appreciated, marty
Avatar 10:24pm coelacanth∅:

(so, like 4-5 years ago)
  10:25pm andrewb:

noice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Scraps:

Seriously, though, I have heard “The Electrician” thirty or forty times, and I never noticed the Dream Weaver similarity... and you noticed it too. There’s a cloud of Seventies vibe in here...
Avatar 10:27pm coelacanth∅:

wow Scraps that makes it even cooler
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Scraps:

spooooooky
  10:28pm greatb:

i too was among the unfortunate being that the first face i put to scott walker's name was Wisconsin's horrible ex-governor

Avatar 10:32pm coelacanth∅:

haha yeah. once when i used google (which i generally don't do now) to look up Scott Walker and this douche in wisconsin came up first i was like c'mon gooble you're spying on me and you give me this guy first?! you know better!
  10:34pm Carmichael:

I listened to Mark Hurst and use Duck Duck Go now.
  10:35pm greatb:

exactly coela! at first i hoped they were one and the same and the douche would be able to call upon his Past Better Self, but alas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Scraps:

Ha. Google finds at least two people who notice a similarity to The Electrician and Dream Weaver.
  10:36pm greatb:

wise, Carmichael!
Avatar 10:37pm coelacanth∅:

that's what i use Carm. i have to type most things out completely. big deal. it's worth it to not support gobble.
Avatar 10:38pm coelacanth∅:

Scraps how do you look for something like that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Scraps:

I searched: “scott walker” “The Electrician” dream weaver
  10:40pm greatb:

Death could be talking about today! prescient in so many ways...
Avatar 10:41pm coelacanth∅:

and it came up with this conversation?
- or 2 other people...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Scraps:

Actually, I should have searched “walker brothers”. Probably would get more hits
  10:42pm greatb:

"scott walker" busts "the electrician" 's union ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Scraps:

Sorry, other people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm Scraps:

Though tomorrow it probably could come up with this conversation
Avatar 10:44pm coelacanth∅:

(that's probably a good thing)
Avatar 10:45pm coelacanth∅:

haha i hope not!
  10:45pm greatb:

between walker, death and sabbath, we got some gospel to spread!
Avatar 10:46pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Scraps:

I don’t think WFMU says to google don’t use these conversations..... I think I’ve came up with WFMU conversations when googling. Not sure though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Tome:

Volume 4 got a lot of play ona worn our cassette too <>
Avatar 10:49pm coelacanth∅:

(although someone was about to knock on my door once when mogwai was playing because the bass was rattling the house, but the track ended and i heard him go back downstairs)
Avatar 10:50pm coelacanth∅:

Scraps -definitely. i have too.
  10:51pm greatb:

they are onto us mates!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The funnest part about playing live must be to go "Thank you! Good night!" and walk off the stage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm chresti:

Last time we had a downstairs neighbor, she would complain about the blender when I was making a smoothie for my son
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

She must have thought Bryce's show was on and marbles would be soon going in.
Avatar 10:55pm coelacanth∅:

or Ken, in the case of john lydon in pil at the end of a show "you ever feel like you've been ripped off?!"
Avatar 10:56pm coelacanth∅:

hahaha! (Ken)
Avatar 10:58pm coelacanth∅:

i'm pretty careful in choosing an apartment. being able to make noise/play music is a high priority.
i made a big blunder choosing this apartment though, in other ways.
Avatar 10:59pm coelacanth∅:

miller highlife?
  10:59pm greatb:

some Sapporo tall boys or something
Avatar 11:00pm JakeGould:

There are liquor stores and then there are “craft beer and/or wine” places.
Avatar 11:01pm coelacanth∅:

i'd rather drink miller, schlitz or genesee cream ale than heinekan.

  11:05pm greatb:

yeah it is yucky coela
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The TV just showed an ad for some kind of lite beer brewed with orange peels.
  11:05pm greatb:

a cheap 6-pack at Key Food
Avatar 11:06pm JakeGould:

Ahh, Frank Booth would not be into four packs of craft beer. youtu.be...
  11:06pm Scraps:

In Washington — well, at least King and Snohomish Counties — the grocery stores now can sell serious alcohol. This also means, no liquor stores anymore. None. It’s really weird, at least if you’re me, which I admit I’m not sure anyone is.
  11:07pm yippie:

American beer sucks compared to the Belgian brews
  11:07pm ?:

Titos, juice, and carbonated water for me tonight
Avatar 11:07pm coelacanth∅:

i do like expensive beer; but not "craft beer".
scottish ales; irish stouts and that...
Avatar 11:07pm javakid:

@JakeGould - that's the scene
  11:07pm greatb:

what's driven me crazy recently is these "fancy" 4-pack glass bottles of cream soda... one after another, no regular generic cans
Avatar 11:07pm JakeGould:

@Ken: Have you ever objectively looked at how many unwanted/undesired/unnecessary beers there are out there? Triumph did the best take on it… youtu.be...
Avatar 11:08pm Marty McSorley:

  11:08pm yippie:

but free beer is one of the best kinds also
Avatar 11:08pm coelacanth∅:

what was that?! Marty did you call in to your own show?!
Avatar 11:09pm JakeGould:

Michelob was fancy when I was a teen.
Avatar 11:10pm coelacanth∅:

and haha!
Avatar 11:10pm Marty McSorley:

cause Jeffery gave me a bunch of free "shitty" beer this week. and he deserved a dedication for that. and you gotta call to make it official
Avatar 11:11pm JakeGould:

I was called snotty for liking Moosehead as a teen.
Avatar 11:13pm coelacanth∅:

i remember "mick" being fancy. i tried someone else's once when i was maybe 16 and thought it tasted like bud...which is terrible.
...molson was very good when i was a teenager, and i know just when it started sucking because the production went up too fast.
  11:17pm Scraps:

I like european beer and craft beer (though my god too much IPA, enough already) and cheap (shitty) beer, as long as it’s good. (That means, sure I’ll take Budweiser. But not Coors.)
Avatar 11:17pm Franco Twinkie:

Marty,Marty Marty, why do you make me repeat myself? But shit dude, I LOVE THIS RECORD!!!
Avatar 11:18pm Marty McSorley:

yeah man one of my all time favs
Avatar 11:19pm coelacanth∅:

when i drink beer in the bar i drink genesee cream ale. it's good and it's $2. if they had miller i'd choose that instead.
they also have the "surprise" - $2.50/pint. i scope it out before ordering it 'cause it usually is a pale ale or some other shit; but sometimes it's a hardy ale or even a stout or porter.
Avatar 11:19pm culprit:

Sheeeit, Millie, I thought you were gonna do this one clean...
Avatar 11:20pm coelacanth∅:

(she kept the album cover clean anyway)
Avatar 11:23pm JakeGould:

I like Woodchuck Cider and Negra Modelo.
Avatar 11:23pm Franco Twinkie:

I like to bookend Caught Up with Web Of Sound by The Seeds. It makes for lively and provocative dinner conversation when we have people over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm Jinx:

just opened a Fat Tire with my WFMU bottle opener.
  11:27pm greatb:

never got into Modelo, till moved to NY

Avatar 11:30pm coelacanth∅:

Back in my drinkin days, Dos Equis XX was my thing, smooth enough for one big gulp
  11:33pm Carmichael:

He he coel ...
  11:34pm greatb:

chase with tequila and repeat
Avatar 11:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Tequila, Harp lager, weed and cocaine on top of a big pile of beans and pork guisado at an early age made me the temperate drinker I am today.
Avatar 11:42pm coelacanth∅:

maybe i should've used that formula.
...but i hated tequila back then. (and didn't like harp that much; and didn't do coke...)
  11:43pm Carmichael:

I occasionally have a shot of Irish whiskey, but it’s all beer nowadays. Can’t remember the last time I got high.
  11:44pm greatb:

Well said FT, I respect that! (fist up emoji) I went from beer tequila cigs and weed to soder pop and weed... I forget which chased which coela! :)
Avatar 11:44pm culprit:

G&T, Babes, G&T.
  11:44pm greatb:

Oh man I heard the birds and my first thought was GRANCHESTER MEADOWS lol
Avatar 11:45pm coelacanth∅:

i drink jameson 3 out of 4 times i drink, which averaged out through the year is about once/week.
Avatar 11:46pm Franco Twinkie:

I always preferred drugs to drinking as a youngster, and now at my advanced age, I don't even like drugs anymore.
  11:46pm greatb:

what kind of G culprit,, or does it matter?
Avatar 11:46pm culprit:

Is weed a drug?
Avatar 11:47pm culprit:

Absolutely matters. Good G. I like 209 out of SF when I can get it.
Good T, too, like Boylan's
  11:47pm Will:

i feel like you're toying wit me, Marty! This show is too good. Always #1.
  11:47pm greatb:

No more than say Xanax which is to say substantially if not considerably
  11:48pm greatb:

what about the gin with botanicals culprit?
Avatar 11:49pm coelacanth∅:

i used to drink gin (sapphire or ten) but never tonic.
Avatar 11:50pm coelacanth∅:

yeah i don't consider herb any more of a drug than say, hot peppers, coffee or sugar...
Avatar 11:50pm culprit:

Love those. 209 is one of them. St George another. was forced to buy from Safeway when I ran out, so got Uncle Val's, which is good, but not 209
Avatar 11:51pm culprit:

Agree coelcantho. It's legal where I am.
Avatar 11:51pm coelacanth∅:

yeah, shit i'm just gonna star this whole show already! been clicking everything anyway
  11:51pm greatb:

yeah i was a Bombay guy. except for gordon's in my gin jello shots!
Avatar 11:52pm culprit:

EEk! Haven't had jello since 1965
  11:53pm greatb:

it's surely worse now culprit!
Avatar 11:54pm culprit:

I was but a wee rugrat and used to eat the powder straight
  11:54pm greatb:

yeah THC can be dependence forming but so can caffeine!
Avatar 11:55pm Franco Twinkie:

Culprit, I like a Boylans grape and a sausage roll after I've been crate digging in the Lower Haight.
Avatar 11:55pm coelacanth∅:

haha just last year i did a couple free jello shots when the promo babes came around with a tray. i don't even know what liquor was in 'em!
(before that it was decades)
Avatar 11:55pm culprit:

I'm talkin about jello powder!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Jinx:

enjoy your beer, Marty!
  11:56pm greatb:

they are a fun project at home to try as an adult!
Avatar 11:57pm culprit:

Twinkie I'm across the bay where the weather is better. Public transport here is a joke, the bridge is a nightmare, so I haven't even been over to the City by the Bay yet.

Avatar 11:57pm coelacanth∅:

boylans soda? i like that they're cane sugar but why the hell they putting artificial color in the birch beer?!
