Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I swear we had about a week of summer after all the predictions of months of desert. I blame Brexit ;-)

Avatar 2:04pm worldsworstrecords:

i know, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Mr Fab:

this is from 1992?! This is the most '80s sounding record of the '90s.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I just typing that!!! lol
Avatar 2:06pm worldsworstrecords:

No, it's a few years earlier... I goofed!
Avatar 2:07pm worldsworstrecords:

I clearly can't cut and paste!

Flowers and Showers is the current view out of my window!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wow - according to the Official Azitis Website (their words!) they wrote a rock opera in 1975.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Rich in Washington:

Hullo!
Avatar 2:13pm worldsworstrecords:

I can imagine some 13 year old had fun in his bedroom knocking this out

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Very well, thank you!!! :-)
Avatar 2:16pm worldsworstrecords:

This isn't sexist or racist at all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Mr Fab:

Calypso Is Like So!! Tho i admit i love the sheer fact of this album's existence more than the actual music.
Avatar 2:17pm worldsworstrecords:

It's a stunning record
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm recreating the Beetlejuice scene in my chair :-)
Avatar 2:19pm worldsworstrecords:

haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Rich in Washington:

Georgy, I envy you living near the shore! I've only been back for a week and I'm already pining for the sea.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

If it makes you feel any better it's currently pouring with rain, blowing a gale, AND we have a sea mist so think that you can't see half of Brighton! :-)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Think? Thick!
Avatar 2:22pm worldsworstrecords:

I love Brighton: haven't been for years though
Avatar 2:24pm Linda Lee:

i'd love seeing Brighton, me. married a Brighton bloke some time back & never met the family!
hello!
Avatar 2:25pm worldsworstrecords:

Hi Linda!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

We need to meet in the middle and do a London coffee :-)
Obviously not that place where you had the ridiculous contraption. lol
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hey Linda! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Rich in Washington:

Brighton sounds lovely. I'd love to visit it someday. We stayed in Oregon town Seaside, which has a carnival feel to it, a promenade, boardwalk, lots of amusement park type stands. It was somewhat crowded, but a real Summer holiday feel to it.
Avatar 2:25pm worldsworstrecords:

haha! I may well come down to Brighton soon. I want to do some interviewing for my next book
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Mr Fab:

re: that Isabel Baker, I do recall the "folk masses" of my youth, where the girls with the long straight hair parted in the middle would play their acoustic guitars. Haven't been a church-goer in decades, so wonder if they still do that..?
Avatar 2:26pm Linda Lee:

my hero! hello! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Mr Fab:

they probably have hip hop masses now, ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Rich in Washington:

That was amazingly horrid! I loved it!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love that there's a town called Seaside :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Linda Lee!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Please do come to Brighton - coffee and cake on me! :-)
Avatar 2:27pm Linda Lee:

my god. i actually do remember Ricky Segall. this is incredible.
  2:27pm Martinibomb:

Guest today.. so getting ready for him. Just ordered a pizza!
  2:27pm Martinibomb:

sounding great loving the show
Avatar 2:27pm worldsworstrecords:

ohh.. exciting MB
Avatar 2:27pm Linda Lee:

bet on it, dear! i'll be there as soon as i possibly can.
Avatar 2:27pm worldsworstrecords:

Cheers mate
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ricky Segall, Rodney Allen Ripley, and Mason Reese. The banes of my childhood ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

There's also a Rockaway Beach in Oregon. I spent a lot of time there as a kid, with long visits to my grandparent's little cottage on neighboring town Manhattan Beach. Did the early settlers all come from the East coast, or what?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

WEIRD!!!!! You read my mind!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

I forgot about Rodney Allen Rippy!
Avatar 2:29pm worldsworstrecords:

haha! Sympatico, GG
Avatar 2:29pm worldsworstrecords:

ohh.. it jumped!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

Did Mason Reese ever record any music?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Which one was the DQ kid? Rodney?
Avatar 2:29pm Linda Lee:

my god. Rodney Allen Rippy.
do think they did, basically, Rich. the europeans.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:30pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Not sure about music but Mason Reese was on a reality style show with his fiancee who ppears to be super young and not at all a gold digger.
Avatar 2:30pm worldsworstrecords:

Yes, Rodney ate the burgers, the tubby little git
Avatar 2:31pm Linda Lee:

Mason Reese had to be one of the homeliest child stars ever produced.
Avatar 2:31pm worldsworstrecords:

Classic Dentist next
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Rich in Washington:

Lots of Scandahoovian logger settlers in that region. A fair amount of Finns. The Oregon coast has an interesting history. That's where my father's side of the family hails from.
Avatar 2:32pm worldsworstrecords:

family: it's lovin' time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Rich in Washington:

He's a sort of frightening adult now, Linda Lee.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

DENTIST!!! :-)
Avatar 2:32pm Linda Lee:

not even appealingly homely, like a basset pup. just butt ugly.
not that i can cast stones, really. but still!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mason Reese looks like someone grafted his small boy face on a middle aged man :-(
Avatar 2:33pm Linda Lee:

ouch. unpleasant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Rich in Washington:

Child actors are like Easter ducklings. It often doesn't end well.
Avatar 2:35pm Linda Lee:

that's doubly odd, GG, 'cause as a child he had an old man's face!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Rich in Washington:

He's the same age of me. I not only feel old, but also feel much better looking, so there's that. THAT doesn't happen often, so I'll take it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Rich in Washington:

DEATH DISC! Hurray!
Avatar 2:36pm worldsworstrecords:

glad you approve, Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Rich in Washington:

Ha! Radio Shack! They're rarer than white rhinos now. I saw and photographed one on my trip last week. It was in Clatskanie Oregon, if you are needing a 40' headphone extension cable.
Avatar 2:40pm worldsworstrecords:

God, do they still exist? I thought they'd gone bust
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Now you've made me want a 40' headphone extension cable!
Avatar 2:40pm Linda Lee:

well, i love this stones cover.really appropriately messy.
i'm also hearing 'honky tonk willy'.
Avatar 2:40pm worldsworstrecords:

The British side of the chain was called Tandy: they disappeared from the High Street years ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Rich in Washington:

I think a few of the independently owned ones are sort of hanging on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Mr Fab:

Ferlin Husky is one of the greats from the classic country era, but WOW. that was hilariously awful. Kudos to you again, Darryl (I think?) for finding this stuff.
Avatar 2:41pm worldsworstrecords:

haha! All I can hear now is Honky Tonk Willy!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Tandy were Radio Shack??? I did not know that! God, I remember Tandy tho ... :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Mr Fab:

I was reading about Radio Shack a while ago - pretty interesting how they had a corner on the PC market in the '80s and let it all slip away.
Avatar 2:42pm Linda Lee:

i'm sorry, Darryl.
Tandy products were sold here, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Rich in Washington:

Yes! Tandy! Radio Shack has a really interesting history. Also one of the most spectacularly poorly run franchises around.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

A Leicester Fiesta?? lol
Avatar 2:43pm worldsworstrecords:

Don't be sorry, Linda - that's hilarious :-)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oh!!! That is actually what they're saying! LOL!!!
Avatar 2:43pm worldsworstrecords:

We do love a Fiesta in Leicester
Avatar 2:43pm Linda Lee:

brilliant.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't stop laughing!!! This is FANTASTIC! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Rich in Washington:

My first ever stereo as a kid was a model Clarinette by Realistic/Radio Shack.
Avatar 2:44pm Linda Lee:

early video games were by Tandy, am i right?
Avatar 2:45pm Linda Lee:

wow.. this 'Governor George' record is just appalling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Rich in Washington:

I think Tandy/Radio Shack/Realistic had a lot of rebranded knock-off stuff made by bigger manufacturers, so I am pretty sure they had things like their own version of Pong, etc..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Rich in Washington:

My brother and I bought a synthesizer that was built by Moog but with Realistic branding. It was wonderful.
Avatar 2:47pm Linda Lee:

his friends did not call Dr. King 'Martin Luther'. do think he's singing about the german professor.
Avatar 2:47pm Linda Lee:

that's lovely, Rich!
Avatar 2:48pm worldsworstrecords:

I think he's using some artistic license, Linda
Avatar 2:49pm Linda Lee:

i think he was a passive-aggressive racist. :-D
Avatar 2:49pm worldsworstrecords:

haha! Maybe!
Avatar 2:49pm Linda Lee:

but this 'real pros' record is fabulous!!
Avatar 2:50pm Linda Lee:

oh my god. here we go. let's swish again like we did last summer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Rich in Washington:

I just introduced the missus into the wonderful world of song poems.
Avatar 2:51pm Linda Lee:

phenomenal!!!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'd rather swish, frankly! :-)
Avatar 2:51pm worldsworstrecords:

I LOVE the Camp Records output... just insane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Rich in Washington:

Swishin' the night away!
Avatar 2:51pm Linda Lee:

too bad the label wasn't Rough Trade. :-D
Avatar 2:52pm worldsworstrecords:

If you think this was the US in 1964 it's incredibly out there
Avatar 2:52pm worldsworstrecords:

Did you know that label issued a 45 called Rough Trade, Linda?
Avatar 2:52pm Linda Lee:

i'll *always* swish by preference, myself.
Avatar 2:53pm worldsworstrecords:

www.discogs.com...
Avatar 2:53pm Linda Lee:

no! just know the record label.
Avatar 2:53pm worldsworstrecords:

haha1 How funny!
Avatar 2:53pm Linda Lee:

& of course he's the personification of rough trade..
Avatar 2:54pm Linda Lee:

this is fabulous.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm going to be setting up in the background - thank you for a wonderful show :-) This has been fabulous :-)
Avatar 2:55pm worldsworstrecords:

last record next... can't believe we've almost come to the end of the hour
Avatar 2:55pm worldsworstrecords:

"get her! get her!"
Avatar 2:56pm Linda Lee:

amazing. just amazing.
Avatar 2:57pm worldsworstrecords:

Glad you liked it, Linda
Avatar 2:58pm Linda Lee:

yes! loved it. i must show up earlier next time!
  2:58pm brainiac:

Thanks for the great show, DW. See you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderful show, Darryl! Top drawer bottom of the barrel music!
Avatar 2:59pm worldsworstrecords:

Cheers Rich, and thanks too Brainiac
