Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm Scraps:

Love the first three Defunkt albums so much.
Avatar 8:08pm Bill Mac:

Another gap in my knowledge. I only know Defunkt.
  8:09pm steve from gberg:

"Hillbilly Hostess in Haunted Harlem" a grand song title
  8:09pm Jeremy:

There was a line in a Jethro Tull song that said 'it's an overwhelming responsibility,.. being a parent is like that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm Parq:

Hi, Bill. A rare chance for me to listen live to a whole show. Sounding good so far!
Avatar 8:14pm Bill Mac:

Hi ho Parq! First time I got to catch my breath all day... it's nice in here!
Avatar 8:14pm Bill Mac:

Where are my manners? Hiya folks!
  8:16pm Jeremy:

Oops, I thought I was over at Ichiban, my bad!
  8:17pm The Butterman:

Oh I’ve been obsessed with this since someone first played it one night when The Bombay Disco cd came out. So good.
Avatar 8:18pm Bill Mac:

Hey Butterman yeahs this has been around since 2014...
Avatar 8:21pm TDK60:

Ho, almost stumbled into the room..
Avatar 8:22pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm fleep:

A fill-in? How Zzzzzzzplendid
Avatar 8:23pm Bill Mac:

A two hour jaunt, I'll be gone well before I start irritating anybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Jinx:

vas deferens Organization is one strange band name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Parq:

Why sweat the vase? Hell, Spazz gets a new Ming every week.
Avatar 8:29pm coelacanth∅:

hey Bill, Zzzzzzeroes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm Scraps:

Mickie Most reminds me that Minnie Mouse died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Parq:

Great to hear the Persuasions.
Avatar 8:31pm coelacanth∅:

yet the vas deferens organization album cover gives no indication of anything strange
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Parq:

Oh, man, I didn't know that about Lawson. What a presence he had on stage.
Avatar 8:35pm coelacanth∅:

...not quite the eye balls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Fuzzy:

  8:37pm David Colangelo:

Come on...vas is for sperm transmission...hence, vasectomy...not quite the eyeball
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Scraps:

The Penguin!
Avatar 8:42pm Bill Mac:

@David Ah yes what I always needed concerning this topic - a diagram - I stand corrected
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Scraps:

The second Defunkt album, =Thermonuclear Sweat=, is acknowledged as excellent as well as the first. The third album, =In America=, I think is fcking great. But mostly I’m alone on that, and yes it’s a little slick. After that it’s mostly downhill, but still, pretty good sometimes.
Avatar 8:45pm TDK60:

..did someone put something in my martini?
Avatar 8:46pm Bill Mac:

That period of music reminds me of other vital jazz-ish type musicians of that time - James Blood Ulmer
Avatar 8:46pm coelacanth∅:

i did. it's just an olive.
  8:48pm yippie:

groovy baby
Avatar 8:48pm coelacanth∅:

(i know. it looks like a tiny alien craft; but it's really an olive.)
  8:49pm Carmichael:

It’s Bill on a blistering Sunday, 107 here in NorCal.
Avatar 8:51pm Bill Mac:

@Carmichael Woof! I hope you're in pleasant climes or underground
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Scraps:

Yeah, I love New York eighties jazz-funk. Love all of it. Kelvynator, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, etc etc
  8:56pm David Colangelo:

Is this like Albanian Cake. ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Scraps:

This is nice. Never heard of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Scraps:

Albanian Cake!
Avatar 8:57pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm fleep:

Rinsing lettuce in "cold" tap water started to wilt the lettuce, had to add ice cubes
  9:07pm Carmichael:

Being the suburbanite that I am, it’s pool time.
  9:09pm Jeremy:

I'm back, this song makes me think of Yoko Ono?
  9:09pm David Colangelo:

How ironic...mr waits wealth...while taking a pre set smoke, Chicago PD arrested him for vagrancy...early 80’s I think...
  9:10pm Jeremy:

This song makes me think of John Lennon?
Avatar 9:12pm Bill Mac:

Did lennon have a rockabilly phase?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Jinx:

this is a good song for a Sunday night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Jinx:

was referring to I Know I'm Gonna Die Tonight.
Avatar 9:14pm Bill Mac:

I was thinking it sounded more like a Saturday night song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Scraps:

Lennon rockabilly phase: little bit of =Rock ‘n’ Roll=?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Jinx:

i was just thinking that it's getting out of going to work on a Monday. thanks for The Mekons!
Avatar 9:23pm Bill Mac:

I like the way you think Jinx.... bummed that I missed the Mekons this time around. Last show of the tour tonight in Calgary
Avatar 9:23pm TDK60:

'Rip It Up/Ready Teddy' off Lennon's 'Rock n Roll' is real rockin' -and some of the others too, but I feel it's overproduced, too many players.
  9:23pm sinner:

Avatar 9:24pm Bill Mac:

@TDK Beware of Star studded collabs
Avatar 9:25pm Bill Mac:

What up sinner!
Avatar 9:25pm coelacanth∅:

"there's 2 basses in this. 'hope you appreciate that." (Dr. Winston O'Boogie)
Avatar 9:26pm coelacanth∅:

(...in the fade of "just because")
Avatar 9:27pm Bill Mac:

Harry Nilsson?
Avatar 9:28pm coelacanth∅:

John Lennon. the last song on "rock and roll" ...overproduced by phil spector.
  9:29pm dave sustain:

Did Gaylord switch time slots?
  9:31pm Carmichael:

If you keep bringing up Lennon, you’ll summon RevRabbit. Then there’s no going back.
Avatar 9:31pm coelacanth∅:

  9:36pm Jeremy:

Mind Games...you are 'here'!
Avatar 9:37pm coelacanth∅:

hey Carmichael i know you were into me reading finnegan's wake but i've done a bit of research and as i've never read Joyce i've decided to read dubliners first, then ulysses, the finnegan's wake.
'make sense?
Avatar 9:39pm coelacanth∅:

(...i had trouble with Gabriel Garcia-Márquez at first then used the strategy of reading a collection of shorts first and it did the trick beautifully.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Tome:

nice "see" you again Bill ,, groovy stuff !<>!
Avatar 9:41pm Bill Mac:

Thanks Tome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm chresti:

ha ha Carmichael
  9:43pm Carmichael:

Good move, coel. Dubliners is a kind of a greatest hits (especially the last story), and will give you a good feel for his narrative. Portrait of the Artist is also a good accessible work.
  9:45pm Carmichael:

Life is a Dream is Marquez’ greatest work. It stands by itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm chresti:

Thanks, Bill, very enjoyable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Scraps:

Dubliners, then Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, then Ulysses, then FW, yes, definitely

(Finnegans Wake doesn’t have an apostrophe, by the way)
  9:47pm Carmichael:

And I can’t say enough good things about Josef Conrad.
Avatar 9:47pm coelacanth∅:

cool. i read somewhere that some of the characters found in dubliners appear later in ulysses. that's what i experienced with Garcia-Márquez as well and it was fun putting the pieces together. (i use this example because Garcia-Márquez is another that's known for (if not accused of) being "challenging")
  9:48pm Carmichael:

Joyce will explain what KMRIA stands for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Scraps:

ME TOO. Love Conrad.
Avatar 9:49pm coelacanth∅:

oh i didn't even see your second comment. that's one i've not read. (Life is a dream)
  9:50pm Carmichael:

Early Kinks were so dance hall and shambolic. I loved this whole era.
Avatar 9:51pm coelacanth∅:

Thank you Scraps.
...i have to finish Love in the time of cholera first. (what must be one of Garcia-Márquez' "least challenging" works)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Jinx:

enjoyed the show, Bill. take care.
Avatar 9:53pm Bill Mac:

Thanks Jinx... hey thanks all, gotta start making ready for the next shift... stay cool...
Avatar 9:55pm coelacanth∅:

hmm..."Life is a dream" is not listed in Garcia Márquez' list of works
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm chresti:

That's in Row Your Boat-Life is but a dream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm adampsyche:

  9:59pm yippie:

merrily merrily merrily merrily
Avatar 9:59pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Bill!
