Sounds from the archive of the future, sonic drilling into the past, dissonant rumbling, lyrical melodies, noises (human, animal, mechanical, digital) inscrutable yet honest, desultory but consistent.

'Evening, friends. Good to see you...
Avatar 9:11pm northguineahills:

The WFMU family now has a Dave Sewelman (GTDS stream) and David Suisman (whom has been here quite a while), pretty soon, I'll need a David spreadsheet for WFMU djs….
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm chresti:

My trousers are comfy, thanks to Sansabelt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm doctorjazz:

Hi Dave! Sounding fine!
Avatar 9:12pm coelacanth∅:

at least 6 Daves/Davids
Avatar 9:13pm Franco Twinkie:

The Lumpen was The Black Panther band, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm doctorjazz:

The less known Franklin! Great track!
Avatar 9:16pm Franco Twinkie:

Doc! Work hard in the daytime, rest easy at night.
Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Jinx:

"Use Me" never gets old. Great song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm chresti:

nice follow up to Use Me
Avatar 9:23pm TDK60:

I'm eatin' Spanish tea cookies. Hola!
Avatar 9:25pm northguineahills:

@coel: and those are the ones that have been active in the last 6 months.
Avatar 9:27pm northguineahills:

No more cooking until I leave my abode for me until I leave, I need to clean, and I'm a messy chef. Cheap takeout food for me for the next few days, but, I still have my garden chilis, herbs, and spices to help out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm chresti:

Spanish tea cookies sounds good, never heard of them.

Hummis? @ngh
Avatar 9:30pm coelacanth∅:

ngh you're right. here's 8... Suisman; Sewelson; Dichelle; Weinstein; Mandl; Bombay; spazz dave; Emory
Avatar 9:30pm TDK60:

"Dave, take a stress pill..."Daisy, Daisy..."
Avatar 9:31pm coelacanth∅:

has Bombay done a fill-in not too long ago? i feel like he has; leaving only Dave Emory having not been on for a few years
Avatar 9:32pm coelacanth∅:

(i don't remember his show title)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm doctorjazz:

Hey, Left Coasters! How goes!
Avatar 9:35pm northguineahills:

No chick peas, chresti. (just pizza and subs, but I don't eat much, so it will last me the next four days).
Avatar 9:35pm TDK60:

Kim Sorise's show is fun, mostly jazz, in the Drummer corridor.
  9:36pm BH:

the guy who suggested the Army Recruitment Record Club idea probably felt really smart for a few weeks
Avatar 9:36pm coelacanth∅:

Kim's premium cds are always killer too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm doctorjazz:

I wouldn't call Global Grease mostly jazz, though she does play it. Lots of world music, R&b, great mix.
Avatar 9:39pm coelacanth∅:

intentional segue Bill Withers > army recruitment record? (Bill having served and being present on at least one army radiospot album)
Avatar 9:42pm TDK60:

..thanx for clarity, doc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm doctorjazz:

(I don't know an FMU show that's mostly jazz (but I haven't been able to catch them all). Jeff Golick's Destination Out is the closest, but he hits on many other styles as well. I wouldn't mind an all or mostly jazz show, but there are other places to get that, I suppose.)
Avatar 9:46pm coelacanth∅:

d.o. is majority jazz, but not mostly jazz.
music for a free world is mostly jazz, but not mostly music.
Avatar 9:48pm coelacanth∅:

(although i've probably missed 1/4 of Sewelson's shows so i'm not sure. i think i've only caught one that wasn't all or mostly jazz)
Avatar 9:53pm TDK60:

this sounds like it could be good march music, for some odd surreal procession... right?
Avatar 9:54pm northguineahills:

@doctorjazz: I wouldn't mind either, but even I get bored if a dj plays the same genre, even if every selection is flawless. Hence, me heart woof moo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm doctorjazz:

Music For a Free World is the closest, true, and it's a great show. But, it does have a focus on a particular corner of jazz, leaning on Sewelson's being a free jazz player himself. (Seen him many times playing in The Microscopic Septet, where he's a subversive force).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm doctorjazz:

@ngh, I'm with you, which is why I'm here and not at WBGO, say, which can get samey. But there's so much different jazz out there, it should be possible to not do a show of all bebop, say. If I ever retire, I'll br available... :)
Avatar 10:04pm coelacanth∅:

dr j i guess that's true about Sewelson's niche. i happen to prefer "free" jazz and along those lines by a large margin so it doesn't seem that way to me; but yeah i think you're right.
...(and, envious of your having seen him perform)
Avatar 10:05pm TDK60:

I'm on a Kim S. Robinson big book now.
Avatar 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

ngh i'm cooking a frozen pizza right now and i cut up a pepper from my sister's garden on top. she does not and i do not know what kind of pepper it is but the intensity was challenging when i was cutting it up! wish me luck!
Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Jinx:

never heard this song. so good!
Avatar 10:20pm coelacanth∅:

TDK you're referring to Kim Stanley Robinson?
...i'd never heard of him but just read a bit about him and i'm intrigued
Avatar 10:23pm TDK60:

Coel: yes, imo: an incredible sci-fi writer. I first got into him via his epic Mars Trilogy; now reading New York 2140.
Avatar 10:26pm coelacanth∅:

this guy sounds really cool
-added to my list. hopefully i'll live long enough to get to 1/2 the books on that list
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm !ke:

Hi folks! I've never been able to get into Robinson but I quite like The Expanse series (both as books and TV). Also right now I'm reading a great novelette called "Her Silhouette, Drawn in Water" by Vylar Kaftan. Before that, "Terminal Alliance (Janitors of the Post-Apocalypse, Book 1)" by Jim C. Hines, which was quite amusing.
Avatar 10:29pm coelacanth∅:

right now i'm reading "Love in the time of cholera" -quite a different adventure! (and quite different than the other Garcia-Marquez books i've read) next up i think is finnegan's wake
Avatar 10:30pm coelacanth∅:

(i like old books)

Skeeters are minimal but it pays to swim back inside once we lose the light. We use repellent from Healin' Hollers.

This set is super, David of Many Davids
Avatar 11:23pm Inner Ear Detour:

glad your diggin it, fleep...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm chresti:

Does it work? @fleep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm fleep:

chresti it's made of pennyroyal, citronella, and eucalyptus and works as well as the chemical stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm chresti:

Pennyroyal, the one we have is missing pennyroyal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm chresti:

I find that I have to keep applying herbal repellents
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm chresti:

Have to step away from the comments center, still listening, thanks David! Goodnight everyone!
