  3:02pm Listener Robert:

I like the enormous chin on the one in the foreground.
Avatar 3:02pm Listening Out There:

Is this thing on?
  3:02pm Marc15:

Any extra time with you Duane is great!
Avatar 3:08pm Zoot:

Ga-roovy! (man)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Carmichael:

Donde esta Irwin? Why isn't the stalling tape playing?
  3:11pm Listener Robert:

It must've been a goiter.
Avatar 3:17pm Listening Out There:

Got a note from your mom that explains why you're late?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

About time, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

I meant "It's Irwin time!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

Artist dude: I paint what I feel, man
Jim Rockford: You musn't feel very good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Michael 98145:

the painting finger moves on
  3:36pm berbo:

Avatar 3:37pm βrian:

We can call him Coyly McCoy to lend him that adverbial something.

(De Rigueur for Irwin's show.)
  3:37pm berbo:

McCoy Tyner is the Keith Richards of Lee Morgans.
  3:39pm Dave Miss:

Howdy Irwin
  3:40pm Bill Bagger:

Irwin, perhaps youve missed your true calling in life as a weatherman?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Irwin:

I put the "meaty" in meteorologist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Stevel:

Meaty urologist.
Avatar 3:44pm βrian:

Meat and Magritte could be a radio show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm zopa:

So much winning!
  3:45pm Listener Robert:

So, new openers. How long since you opened with Raymond Scott? Do you need a pair of jacks or better, and is it progressive?
  3:46pm Scooter:

Irwin makes me feel guilty for ducking out of work early. I get so much done on Wednesday afternoons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm thatpatsmith:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Phillippe Bastille:

Damn Irwin, thank you for unearthing this. Individually, I'm pretty tired of these songs, but mashed-up, yummm
  3:54pm berbo:

Bill Malone played Toby Keith on his radio show (WORT) this morning, and if its good enough for the guy who wrote the book on country music.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

So, what does one call a person who studies meteors, a weatheroligist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm mb:

Thanks for the MMW, Irwin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Itzall ClearD'me Nåu:

Funny coincidence. I played M.M.&W.'s "Shack Man" last night for the first time in maybe 10 years. Still sounds great. Can't recall ever hearing them on WFMU, but then I'm a "newbie" of maybe 4-5 years. Great show, as always.
Avatar 4:02pm βrian:

Workmates don't like me clapping to Irwin's bed music ...
  4:05pm beetlemuse:

I just bought this album, still waiting to get it in the mail :D
  4:06pm Glen but also Luis:

Machines is a Manfred Mann cover! welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm zopa:

The first album featured a notable "robotic" cover of Manfred Mann's UK hit "Machines" (composed by Mort Shuman), which Capitol released as a single.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm zopa:

Plan 9 did a cover in 1985 according to Secondhand songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Irwin:

Did MM first record the song?
  4:11pm davidjbrown:

Hi Irwin! Dave here (formerly at SECCA where we worked with you on a show of sound from Songs in the Key of Z!. Don't know anyting about Lothar and the Hand People's Machine work...but I did see them play live at the Atlantic City Pop Festival in 1969. The dates ere AUG 1-3...but maybe you knew that by playing them now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm zopa:

@Irwin: It would appear to be so. Mort's version was released in 1980 on Philips.
Machines / La Drôle De Folie Que Je Vis
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Irwin:

Thanks, all. I found it, will air it shortly.
  4:20pm Listener Robert:

Any of you catch the program on WMFU this morning that started before 9 and ended after noon (but before 1)? I and my housemate here (who's a newbie to WFMU, not like my original housemate who listened since the 1970s) liked the selection very much and would like to know who to thank. And can we knock out power in Mount Hope more often so we can hear this compilation?
Avatar 4:20pm Fredericks:

Toots Thielemans on harmonica?
Avatar 4:21pm Fredericks:

I was referring to the Mantler piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Irwin:

That was Keili filling in for Ken.
  4:22pm ignatatus666:

Ohhh yesssss
Love this version!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm chris:

  4:24pm Listener Robert:

No, Irwin, it was not Keillidh. She went out on the main streams and presumably on 91.1, but 90.1 was different. It was not DX like, say, Binghamton, it was Mount Hope. And none of the WFMU alternate stream playlists fit it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Listener Robert if you liked Keilidh, you can listen to archives of her show here: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Phillippe Bastille:

Sorry Robert, posts passed in the airwaves..
  4:26pm spodiodi:

hooray for Irwin! sounds good. thank you.
  4:34pm Dave Miss:

Hey Irwin,
Do you know saxophonist John Ellis? He used to play with Charlie Hunter, and a whole bunch other people. I know Him from New Orleans and here in Brooklyn. He has some new music out FYI
  4:35pm ?:

@Irwin: Since you're playing the definitive (original) version of Machines, perhaps you should consider playing the song Lothar and the Hand People DID make famous, their legendary and immortal "Space Hymn."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm zopa:

Can't find any listing of the session players on this version of machines:
  4:42pm Bill Bagger:

This is some of the best hardcore, fast & furious, head banging acid jazz I've ever heard!
Avatar 4:50pm Fredericks:

Septeto Tipico Oriental needs to turn up the cowbell!
  4:54pm Listener Robert:

Maybe it'll be the one where Ken let a mouse loose in the studio. That's the first 7SD I can remember, but I understand they were doing the show about a year before I started listening.
Avatar 5:08pm Fredericks:

I want to hear the 'RIOT ACT" episode. Never heard it, but the description I read sounded very funny.
Avatar 5:11pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irwin, everything in hunky dory over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

gotta run, great show Irwin!
Avatar 5:14pm Fredericks:

Are the aliens we’re going to free from Area 51 invited to the cookout or nah?
Avatar 5:20pm Brian in UK:

A Swinging Safari.
Avatar 5:30pm Sketch:

This is almost as good as the reggae version
  5:42pm Grubbus:

sounds good as usual even up here in Rhode island!
Avatar 5:45pm TigerSoul:

Brilliant playlist this, "eclectic" doesn't begin to describe the wide ranging mix of tastes & styles. It's like the deejay raided my music collection. Too bad I only started tuning in after I clocked out of work at 4:45p...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Irwin:

Howdy. Grubbus! Nice to see you on the boards.
  5:46pm Sean:

I would be curious to hear Irwin's review of Scott Pilgrim vs the world.
  5:56pm listener Christoph:

Listening in from Cape Cod!
  5:59pm spodiodi:

thanks, Irwin!
