Hello Geezerette! And other incoming. Hope it's not too hot where you are. Cooled off considerably here in Montreal this week but still toasty. Tell me weather stories. Fan is on medium now with a pitcher of water.

Avatar 6:04pm Mr Fab:

Yo yo Otis, and friends of Friendly Persuasion. Or as it might be called here in LA, FIRE-endly Persuasion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I m ducking out now, full of Thai, but diving back into the archives tomorrow. Stay cool everyone! :-)
Avatar 6:06pm Katya Oddio:

Four hours live? Whoa. WFMU's own Glen Jones style!
Avatar 6:06pm geezerette:

Fleep and Mr. Fab, fellow sufferers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Otis Fodder:

Denise, don't make me pull out Moms Mabley. I might, love her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

DJ GG rules, most definitely.
  6:08pm Martinibomb:

I don't know how GG knocks out that much content but she does.
Avatar 6:08pm Denise in DC:

I would not object.
Avatar 6:08pm Denise in DC:

To Moms.
Avatar 6:09pm Katya Oddio:

Cheers Georgy, see you in the archives, have a wonderful evening.
Avatar 6:12pm Mr Fab:

Ha, thank you all! I actually did not realize we were up to 23 hours. We planned on having a 2-hour show every Mon in the gap between Record Roulette Club and LoriHajiTura, DJ just needs to get his gear sorted, and we'll have moved past the 24 hr mark.
Avatar 6:14pm Mr Fab:

don't know if we're quite up to 20k tracks in the stream, but getting close
Avatar 6:19pm Mr Fab:

Avatar 6:20pm Denise in DC:

Oh my.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Otis Fodder:

Oh Blowfly, nasty nasty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Holy shit, that album cover is so amaZING.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Otis Fodder:

There is a documentary on Blowfly, if anyone has not seen it. Very good, from a couple years ago.
Avatar 6:23pm Mr Fab:

Weirdly enough, seeing Blowfly (on a double-bill with Rudy Ray Moore) was one of the most star-studded shows I've ever been to. Recognizable faces all around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Otis Fodder:

Oh wow, I think I remember you mentioning that before Fab. Crazy!
Avatar 6:24pm geezerette:

Otis, got any Redd Foxx?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Otis Fodder:

G - I do, Redd Foxx's 'You Gotta Wash Your Ass' haaaaaaaa.
Avatar 6:26pm geezerette:

Avatar 6:31pm geezerette:

heh heh, thx Hopey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Otis Fodder:

Can you believe it, I don't have any Rusty on Vinyl at this time. Just put a note on a sticky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Otis Fodder:

Haaaaaa haaaa awwww Redd!
Avatar 6:33pm Katya Oddio:

Lunch is over. Back to the grind -- no double entende! LOL Cheers to you, Otis, and to Sheena's

Avatar 6:46pm Jason Elbogen:

Hi, Otis+associates! I'm glad my wife isn't a native speaker of English right now.
Avatar 6:47pm Jason Elbogen:

The double entendre onslaught is lost on her.
Avatar 6:49pm geezerette:

What does she mean? :)
Avatar 6:50pm geezerette:

Jason, how do you explain why you're laughing?
Avatar 6:50pm Mr Fab:

Hey Jason! But what does your wife make of Chief Kooffreh?
Avatar 6:51pm geezerette:

This is a very educational show.
  6:51pm Bill:

Claudia Wheeler - Never Saw A Crack Like That Before
Avatar 6:52pm Jason Elbogen:

Mr. Fab--I've been careful to keep the Chief and her far apart. For the sake of the marriage itself.
Avatar 6:56pm Mr Fab:

Thx Otis, wonderful set. I try to buy any stag-party records I can find (just might have the complete Rusty Warren), and I don't have ANY of those records you played. Must hit the shops!
Avatar 6:58pm Jason Elbogen:

S.O.S. were Hawaiian, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Otis Fodder:

Yes they were Jason. Found out on Discogs they were a part of the Fabulous Echoes before. Totally new to my ears and love this.
Avatar 6:59pm Jason Elbogen:

Actually think I have a live lp by them somewhere in my mess-o-records
Avatar 7:00pm Mr Fab:

Hawaiian lounge legends. Were around for ages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

This totally brings back memories! Was Columbo included in this series?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Rich in Washington:

Columbo. That's also where Columbo came from. I knew there was just one more thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Rich in Washington:

Yep, Hopey!
Avatar 7:16pm Mr Fab:

The girl on the cover is frowning and holding her ears. Ah c'mon lady, it's not so bad...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Rich in Washington:

Wow! This is fantastic!
Avatar 7:17pm Mr Fab:

featuring WFMU's own Devin E Levin, but of course.
  7:19pm Martinibomb:

Wait! I didnt realize they had an album out of this crazy
Avatar 7:19pm geezerette:

Really distilled that sound!
Avatar 7:21pm geezerette:

Hey, Martinibomb!
  7:22pm Martinibomb:

  7:29pm Martinibomb:

I'm in Oregon and for whatever reason we are having one of the coolest July's I've ever experienced. No complaining tho. I love it! Perfect weather right now
Avatar 7:30pm geezerette:

Cooling just to hear about it! :)
  7:30pm Bill:

this is a dreadful version, but it is a demo
Avatar 7:33pm Mr Fab:

Fun-to-Know Fact: the Peterson sisters of the Bangles are Valley girls who went to my grade school (no, i didn't know 'em - they were a few years older than me)
Avatar 7:36pm slocker:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Rich in Washington:

Oh man! This is incredible, Otis! How have I never heard of this before?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Otis Fodder:

Rich I have something for you next. Bob Larson on tape from a Cure bit that was on 365 Days +++
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Rich in Washington:

@Martinibomb: I know what you mean. It's been rather nice. My wife sort of wishes it'd warm up so she can get some river swimming in - the water's still really cold.
At least it's not like the past two Summers, though!
  7:38pm Laura L:

Hot in the Airport sounds as fresh as ever, thanks, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

I should pull out my stupid 70s Bob Larson LP where he plays guitar on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

The musicians on this deserve some sort of medal.
Avatar 7:41pm Mr Fab:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Rich in Washington:

I was a pretty avid WFMU BOTB reader, so still flummoxed as to how i missed that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Rich in Washington:

although I go look at some WFMU blog entries and am surprised to see that I've left comments on it, but have no recall of it. Derp!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Otis Fodder:

Mandy is my hero.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Otis Fodder:

I forget actual 365 Days songs that... I posted up. Ah, memory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Rich in Washington:

Bob's such a condescending wanker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Otis Fodder:

Total wanker.
  7:49pm Martinibomb:

This kid rules!
Avatar 7:49pm geezerette:

Smart girl!
  7:50pm Martinibomb:

He's literally arguing with a child and she's making a better argument. Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Otis Fodder:

Bob is a total dickwad.
Avatar 7:51pm geezerette:

Like she'd know who LW was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Otis Fodder:

Found that photo of his usual look. I know more than you. You are wrong. Mmmmmm.
Avatar 7:51pm solo mon:

what a loser
Avatar 7:52pm geezerette:

So funny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Otis Fodder:

You will hear no Degarmo and Key in Sheena's Jungle Room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Rich in Washington:

The Bob vs Boyd Rice debates are really hilarious. While I find lots of Rice's extracurricular activities problematic, esp nowadays, he really takes the piss out of Larson, even making him look like more of a fool in front of his own radio audience.
Avatar 7:54pm solo mon:

He is soooooo negative he is more negative than robert "love cats" smith
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Rich in Washington:

Gawd, what a dickweed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Rich in Washington:

Gotta head home, Otis! Will be listening in my car. Later!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Otis Fodder:

Get Mandy a show on WFMU today!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar 8:03pm solo mon:

  8:03pm Martinibomb:

what disgusting human Bob is
Avatar 8:03pm geezerette:

Really, such a predator.
  8:03pm Martinibomb:

this is hurting I can believe he turned this around on her
Avatar 8:04pm solo mon:

And mandy grew up to start a band called Voluptuous horror of karen black!

Avatar 8:55pm Mayuko:

Hola! Finally got home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Mayuko. Welcome to home and Sheena's Jungle Room. :)
Avatar 9:01pm Mayuko:

I see I missed the blood-boiling moment of 太陽にほえろ!. But glad to get to listen the last hour live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm Otis Fodder:

I just found that album last week. It had a sticker on it someone wrote, funky japanese soundtrack. Listened in shop and took it home and was very excited to look on Discogs and found out that it's with members of The Spiders. Love GS bands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm Otis Fodder:

Not sure if Spiders would be considered Group Sounds. I only know the tip of that scene, but love it.
  9:05pm Martinibomb:

Hello Mayuko! Aaa I still need to catch up on your archives
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Otis Fodder:

I love long songs like this. I just did both the trash and recycling for tomorrow. Gonna put it on the curb now.
Avatar 9:11pm Mayuko:

@Otis I know nothing about it, but that TV series went on for many years, and I remember from my childhood that kids would sing the opening theme song changing the lyrics. I thought the show was funny because everything (acting and music and all) seemed really over the top. Was a bit too young to really understand the story, though.
Avatar 9:13pm Mayuko:

Hi Martinibomb!! Same here! Too bad I'm usually working until pretty late on Wednesdays with no access to the radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Otis Fodder:

Oh wow, it was a TV show. Just picked up the album last week. It's a keeper. Will search out more info on it. Thanks!
Avatar 9:20pm Mayuko:

By the way I'd be happy to help if/when any of you Sheena's DJs need help to find info or translation for Japanese music. Please feel free to email me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Mayuko! Ha, I spent like 2 hours putting this up on Discogs last year. Flying blind but I got it, www.discogs.com...
  9:24pm Martinibomb:

oh gotta send this to a friend who has a show called castles in the air
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Otis Fodder:

Cover of The Bugaloos!
  9:27pm Martinibomb:

once you see sid and marty kroft it just gets burned in. you can be like 2 and mind blown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Otis Fodder:

So mind blown. Lidsville was the kicker. Maybe THAT'S the reason for the radio and bran?!?
  9:35pm Martinibomb:

I remember loving Elektra Woman and Dyna Girl that was Markie Post?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Otis Fodder:

I saw they made a movie recently but have not seen it. The original theme song is so good, all those soundtracks were pretty cool.
  9:36pm Martinibomb:

nope was not markie post.. dunno why I thought she was in that show hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yea, they did Land of the Lost too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Otis Fodder:

Well, that would have been cool. Stepping stone to Night Court.
  9:38pm Martinibomb:

Our old Pug, Otto, used to flip out every time we would play my land of the lost DVD. He'd go the windows and check for dinosaurs. Hilarious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar 9:39pm Denise in DC:

Back from dinner and glad you're still here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Denise, just another 36 hours to go. Ha.
  9:40pm Martinibomb:

So I didn't mention it today but Maxx Bass opened for People like Us in Portland once back in the 90s he was part of an electronic/experimental duo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Otis Fodder:

Still alive and looking forward to ice cream with mango top of the hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Otis Fodder:

Oh nice, what was the duo name? Do you recall?
  9:42pm Martinibomb:

I can't remember and I can only vaguely recall it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Otis Fodder:

That's cool. Visited Portland a few times (after moving to Seattle) but that was late 90s, 1997 and on to when I left in 2005. Saw a number of shows but did not catch PLU until 2005 while in San Fran.
  9:49pm Martinibomb:

Portland is a cool place it's got some growing pains right now and a seedy underbelly in it's history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Otis Fodder:

Last visit is when I played there and we met up in 2010.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Otis Fodder:

I have been following the news on Portlandia though. ;-)
Avatar 9:52pm Mayuko:

That Domenique Dumont was really lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yes, I loved an EP by Dumont a couple of years ago and there is a new album I have not heard yet but plan on picking up.
  9:58pm Martinibomb:

that's the one
Avatar 9:59pm Denise in DC:

Thank you, Otis!
  10:00pm Martinibomb:

AND The good news is you can go as long as you want because she does't trim the end! SO GO another HOUR!
Avatar 10:00pm Denise in DC:

  10:00pm Martinibomb:

I think you gotta do an encore now man.
  10:01pm Martinibomb:

Otis! Otis! Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, I totally could. But couch and ice cream with fresh sliced mango awaits. The reward system is very important.
Avatar 10:01pm Denise in DC:

Gooooodbyyyyyyyyyyyyyye . . . goooooooooooodbyyyyyyyyyyyyye. . .

Maybe one week MB, we should just jump on Skype and catch up at 10pm EST. Ha, I could do that weekly, just call someone.

You are welcome to go on for another 3 hours. But, thanks for the music, Otis!

I like the random-phone-call idea!

That would be really fun. Could do it top of the last hour at 9pm EST. I also thought of calling Ken & Andy as our shows are at the same time. That would be funny. Just call them weekly to check in and ask stupid questions about how to use the playlist or if I can say poop on the air, is that FCC regulated. Ha, I might!
