Peeking in early—hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Michael 98145:

well, okay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm coelacanth∅:

hey Julie!
Avatar 2:03pm Linda Lee:

Julie! i remember when moviegoers found the violence in 'Clockwork Orange' incredibly disturbing. mild stuff relative to what's given out today, i suspect.
Avatar 2:04pm Linda Lee:

thanks for the sounds. honestly, quite necessary on this day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Julie:

hey guys! You hearing the tunes okay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm chresti:

Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm listener james from westwood:

Hearing things AOK! Including this surprise cover!
Avatar 2:07pm Linda Lee:

perfectly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Michael 98145:

sounds good. but quit making me smile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm chresti:

Loud and clear.
Avatar 2:08pm Linda Lee:

some of these modern working folks would *love* working strictly 9 - 5.
Avatar 2:08pm Linda Lee:

they're basically on call 24/7 now, aren't they.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Julie:

just a headsup playlist is gonna go down in about an hour for maintenance, you should still be able to listen though so don't run off. Hopefully brief interuption
Avatar 2:09pm Linda Lee:

Suzi's fadin'! eek!
Avatar 2:10pm Linda Lee:

volume's dropped by about a third just now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Julie:

it was in the red before, way loud
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Julie:

trying to even things out a bit. hopefully no more drastic changes
Avatar 2:11pm Linda Lee:

aha! :-D
Avatar 2:11pm Linda Lee:

no one noticed but me, apparently. :-D
Avatar 2:14pm Linda Lee:

fabulous!! it's Cherie & Brie! they sound great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Julie:

Hey there everyone! I think I'm finally situated. I've gotten very spoiled not having anyone in here before me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Julie:

yes! album coming out in August, so excited.
Avatar 2:16pm Linda Lee:

sounds fine!
Suzi Q's sister Patti played with Brie's former bandmates in Fanny. nice circle, there.
Avatar 2:16pm Linda Lee:

always love hearing some Fanny, if you feel like it, Julie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Julie:

not prepared for that today I'm afraid, but they are a band I need to explore more for sure.
Avatar 2:18pm Linda Lee:

lovely set so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Julie:

thank you Linda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm listener james from westwood:

Lost Patrol <3
Avatar 2:21pm Linda Lee:

Fanny was absolutely amazing. the first all female band to be offered a recording contract for a full LP. amazing musicians, for sure. they put many of the guys of the time to real shame. Bowie was a big fan! he told Rolling Stone in 95 that they were incredibly important & incredibly good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Julie:

fanny predates pleasure seekers? Goldie and the gingerbreads? You sure?
Avatar 2:21pm Linda Lee:

June Millington was an amazing guitarist. still is, at 70! :-)
Avatar 2:22pm Linda Lee:

as far as a full album deal, yes. for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm doctorjazz:

Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Julie:

that's awesome. Hi Doctor Jazz! I'm afraid I have no jazz for you today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm doctorjazz:

I'm fine with the songs I've been hearing!
Avatar 2:33pm Linda Lee:

can't help thinking of you as 'doctor sax', doctorjazz!
Avatar 2:34pm Linda Lee:

hadn't heard that fitzgerald quote. a great one. he knew those dark nights, for sure & many of us can relate.
Avatar 2:37pm Linda Lee:

Last Poets!
Avatar 2:38pm Linda Lee:

ah! wrong! gosh it's close though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm doctorjazz:

Been called worse, Linda Lee.
I'm a usual Thursday listener, but I'm working, don't have time to post much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Julie:

I know that was low hanging fruit but how often do I have an excuse for that
Avatar 2:45pm Linda Lee:

it's a fabulous track though!
Avatar 2:46pm Jeff Moore:

Hey, Guys! Julie has heard about this, but I don't know if y'all have heard – we're doing a migration of the server which hosts these playlists, so things will get funny (as in, the playlist just dropping dead and going missing) for... as short a time as Kenzo and I can manage, starting very near 3PM Eastern.
Avatar 2:48pm Linda Lee:

thank you Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks to you and Kenzo for all you do, Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Dropof Goldensun:

Hey Julie and listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Julie:

hi there Dropof
Avatar 3:04pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Everything's going away for a bit soon. And then it will be back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd laugh if everyone's avatars were all swapped around then things resume.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Also: Hello, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm listener james from westwood:

Back online!
Avatar 3:47pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Feels sorta like that, doesn't it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm listener james from westwood:

And I've always dug that Genesis tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm chresti:

So, it took about a half hour
Avatar 3:53pm Jeff Moore:

Time was dilated while we were doing it.
Avatar 3:53pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yeah, I cry. But, omg everything is way better for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Do the DJs need to refresh or take other action to resume the playlists? Currently, they're still showing the last track before the update began.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Dropof Goldensun:

At least we didn't lose the audio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Julie:

Hiiiiiii!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Julie:

Well it took me a while to figure out it was back on! sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Julie:

yes..I had to refresh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Dropof Goldensun:

Yeah, made me have to log in again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Julie:

i had been refreshing and of course when I gave up, it came back without my knowing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Julie:

thank you Kenzo & Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Julie:

here's something brand new, literally came out at 5am this morning.
  4:04pm Mark R:

Why are you playing this golden oldie--don't you have anything that was released this afternoon? Yawn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Julie:

well, hey there Mark!
  4:06pm Mark R:

Hey Julie--Nice to hear you on a Saturday! How's the A/C working in Studio C today?
  4:07pm Mark R:

Man, how bad does my math have to be to get the math answer wrong?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Julie:

A/C hasn't been great in here but I've got two fans going and they're doing the job
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm listener james from westwood:

Revolution version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Julie:

these originals make me so happy
  4:16pm Mark R:

"Originals" I thought really shed light on some of these songs. I liked "Nothing Compares 2U" a lot.
  4:18pm Mark R:

Speaking of "Lost in Space," I wonder if that Dr. Smith guy ever cut a vanity record, a la Shatner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Julie:

oh I wouldn't be surprised
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Dropof Goldensun:

Oh the pain!
  4:24pm Mark R:

I actually prefer the instrumental--I can better appreciate Brian's cool arrangements. I also read that the label kind of "suggested" that they include this song on the album because they didn't hear a single on "Pet Sounds" as it was. But I think "Wouldn't It Be Nice" or "God Only Knows" would have both been smash singles. I guess they were also afraid of any song with "God" in the title, unless it was like, "Praise God" or something.
  4:26pm Mark R:

See Drop-of, we've already got a title! I bet you and I could knock that one off faster than John & Paul cranked out "I Wanna Be Your Man" while the Stones waited.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Julie:

there is a fab french version of Sloop John B I play sometimes by a female artist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Dropof Goldensun:

@Mark R - Ha!! Maybe we can work in an alternate spelling for pain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Dropof Goldensun:

I love Kate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Julie:

She's the best!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Dropof Goldensun:

@Julie - I am diggin' the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Julie:

thank you! my show is consistently inconsistent. This sounds nothing like my show from Thursday. Hopefully keeps things interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Dropof Goldensun:

I totally get it. I'll give a listen to your Thursday show in the archives. 12 to 3 on Thursdays is rough for me but who knows. I'm listening from work now but I'm pretty much alone on Saturdays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm listener james from westwood:

Yay for this "Major Tom" cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Julie:

If I recall, he's playing everything on this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Julie:

Gina is coming up after this, with some live guests from Nashville!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Julie:

after me, I mean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Much enjoyment today, Julie. I believe Mary Wing fills in this time slot next week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm listener james from westwood:

Many thanks, Julie, and enjoy the break!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Julie:

ah, oops! Thanks Ken. I will barely even have internet or cell while I'm gone, and surrounded by my family. I hope I survive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Julie:

had to debate whether to go with Elton, kate's version or the movie version. I figured I'd go with the movie.
